[Today Riley can be found hanging out in the back of Needle in a Haystack. She's sitting on top of a pile of boxes, leaning back on one hand as she smiles at the recording she's making. Today she's feeling pretty good about things. Especially about the thing she wants to ask about.]

Okay so people in the past of my world used to celebrate birthdays a lot. They apparently had parties and all that to go "whoo hoo! I lived to see another year!" Now, where I'm from we've pretty much lost that because, well, reasons.

[She shrugs like "Apocalypse. What are you gonna do?"]

But here's a question for all of you. How do you celebrate your birthdays? Parties? Presents? Food? Nothing? I wanna know because I want to know all that stuff that I've been missing out on all these years because like hell was anyone going to be celebrating the grand existence of me. Even if they totally should have.

[That makes her laugh a little.]

Tell me about your birthday stuff. It's time to share again!

[Riley is sitting in the middle of her room at Loki. She's got a candy bar in one hand and a sheet of paper in the other. Grinning, she takes a bite of the candy then shifts about to lean back against her bed. There's boxes all over it.]

Okay... [Yes, Mags. She's talking with her mouth full again.] Fo. We've ha' fum... [She swallows.] ...shit storms recently. I think it's time to lighten the mood and ask a really fucking serious question.

[She puts on a serious face and points at the paper with her candy.] Would any of these... [She points at the world at large with the candy.] ...work on any of you?

[With that, she clears her throat and looks over the paper before giving everyone her sexiest look.]

Hey, baby. That's a nice shirt. Can I talk you out of it?

[Her lip trembles as she tries not to just bust up laughing.]

If you think you feel good, you should feel me.

[She lets out a snort.]

Hey babe! There's a party in my pants and you're invited!

[Okay no. She's done. Riley busts up laughing because all of these are so bad!] Who the hell uses this shit? It's more likely to get you punched in the face!

Good god, you lot again, is it? Still fighting your war, eh? It's only been three years since I last saw you, what? If you were so set on cowering in the trenches, you might have asked Basher Moran to take care of those beasties for you on his own.

Damn shame you had to whisk me away when you did, though. If you'd waited just a mo I would have been able to accurately describe to you the sound of a freshly shot man rolling right over a waterfall.

I suppose you all missed me terribly. I can't imagine you've been getting on well.

[Although she's calm and composed, the cold anger in Maribelle's eyes is enough to tip people off; she's genuinely angry. Furious, in fact.

For a few moments, she doesn't speak. Instead, she holds up the note and the pink locks of hair she found, and Yuiko's bracelet.]

I found these in the park, and this. Now, I'm uncertain as to whether or not the natives here did such a thing - a note is easily forged, and not the best evidence - I do know that my dear friend Yuiko has gone missing, and that whomever has done this shall have to deal with me.

If anyone has any information on this, I would be most grateful. I shall care for her reinhare, as well, so there's no need to worry for the poor little thing. As for whomever did such a dastardly thing, I have but one thing to say.

As a good friend of mine would often say in the heat of battle... Pick a god, and pray.

I've been here almost six months now, with nothing except a bit of a lost bracelet situation to call a holiday, and anyone would think I'd be exhausted. I am, a little, but mostly I'm worried. I do want us all to come out of this alive, even if it takes a lot of hard work and a lot of effort.

[ Because, really, optimism is all she has left. After everything that's happened and with everyone that's come and gone. ]

Would anyone like to spend some time somewhere quiet, maybe? Things have been so strange around here lately that I've barely had time to go and read, or make any new friends. It's better late than never, though, I think.

And, um. Has anyone seen Spike? I think he might have... Let me know.

[ It shouldn't be too noticeable, but this particular incarnation of the Doctor is appearing just slightly rattled right about now. The whole experience of whatever happened to him is just weird. Of course, he's learned more about what happens to people who have lost their bracelets, but experiencing it for himself is another thing entirely.

And, on top of that, he's just come back to his house, only to find that it's completely empty. The feed will show him standing in an empty room, circling twice, and then shrugging. ]

Right, so, it seems I've lost some time, which is something, coming from me.

[ No point in saying anything about Ianto and Jack. He knows what this means; they're missing, and not only from the house. He doesn't trust himself to speak on that subject, so he goes for another angle. ]

What've I missed? I don't need a long speech, but a summary is alright.

[The name that accompanies the message is now Evelyn O'Connell, not Evelyn Carnahan, but otherwise, the writing style might be familiar.]

Are there any documents available for briefing oneself on what has happened within Asgard lately? The network is, of course, available, but as I am not sure how long I have been away by Asgard's mark, it may prove unwieldy.

Additionally, are classes still being held?

If there is anything else one ought to know upon arrival these days, I would be obliged if you would inform me.

18 September 2014 @ 03:09 pm
maybe it's time for a little heart to heart, asgard
especially in the wake of all that nasty business with satan (was his name a self-fulfilling prophecy? things to consider..)

would you do something bad if it meant being powerful?
would you betray your friends if it meant having more control?
would you betray a group of complete strangers?

have you ever done something you aren't proud of?

...
( the message ends, just like that. )

I am aware that there have been some issues, lately, within the city, but I have something important to request.

I would ask that you tell me of your wedding traditions, how those that are wedded complete their vows, for one. Second, I would ask if there is anyone here that has the grace bestowed upon them to offer to join two people. It is important.

You have my thanks.

[There's something different about Hal today. For one thing, he's actually showing his face on the network. For another... well, anyone who's actually met Hal will notice he's markedly disheveled compared to usual. Even stranger, he doesn't seem particularly bothered by it. Instead he almost seems relaxed.]

Would anyone like a pet? Specifically, a dog or an armadillo. Bonus points if you take both.

Is it common around here for people to sleep for inordinate amounts of time? He usually conks out for at least 6 hours a night, but it's getting on 2 days now with no signs of him getting out of bed.

Please don't tell me somebody has to kiss him. Not unless you're willing to volunteer.

08 August 2014 @ 07:38 pm
[The feed shows Castle laying on his bed, looking half-asleep or maybe just bored. He could probably be doing something productive, something that could benefit the war effort in some way, but would rather ask the population at large a question.]

Hey, Asgard - What's your favorite book?

[He's not doing research of any kind, just purely curious. But if anyone asks, this is somehow related to the Welcoming Committee. Don't worry, he'll make it work.]

for those of you who knew him, tom mcnair has been sent home. and for those of you who know me. i'll be at the pub.

[Robb is no stranger to grief and loss, is the thing. He's been here for long enough that he's had to deal with most of his family coming and going, but each time they leave it feels like he's been stabbed through the heart once more.

This is no exception, and it's even worse when he thinks of the fate that will befall her in Westeros.]

For those who knew her, Arya Stark has returned to Westeros. [Again, he's lost his family here. Again, it feels like he's been dealt a heavy blow, all the heavier because this isn't the first time he's lost her. He sends it off as it is, locks himself in his room, and breaks, the tears refusing to stop.

It's only an hour or so later that he finds himself breathing a little easier, enough to at least start responding.]

24 June 2014 @ 03:01 pm
[The screen turns on, featuring a young man looking calmly at the camera.]

Hi. It's been a while. A lot has happened.

[......]

Just a reminder. There's a lost and found at Sigyn, in a building called "Everyday Sunshine". If there's something you found that doesn't belong to you, say jewelry or boots, please drop it off there. They even accept lost bracelets, so in case you find one and there's not a guard nearby, it's an option available that should make it easier for someone who's missing. There's also other services there, so be sure to check them out.

...Also, with the city becoming militarized, everyday life is bound to get more stressful. So if you wish, please drop by Allison's Pet Store and purchase one of our pets. All our animals are very loving and make good companions. We're even training our dogs to be guardians and take part in rescue efforts. If you're interested, we're located in Freya District.

......

[Welp, better get around to it.]

One final thing...it may not be appropriate to ask this, but...could anyone be willing to share some relationship advice?

We are going to war, and people are going to die. Do they always come back?

Does one always become a ghost? In that case, how long does one stay that way?

[ She really did not enjoy that particular experience. ]

So the lines are drawn, are they? [He sighs. He can't be seen, but he's mulling all this over with a glass of bourbon in his hand.]

The end of days, an apocalypse, the infamous Ragnarok. I am actually pretty keen on seeing how that unfolds. But like a good minion, I'm all enlisted, doing my good duty. [It's a laughable notion for anyone who knows him.]

But I'm more interested in the statistics of this; war has always been an interest of mine. So what exactly do we have on our side? Aside from over zealous protagonists... Who is our general? What secret weapon do we have that will rally the troops? I would very much like to hear the heart wrenching and high school football inspiring speech that has every man, woman, and child picking up their swords and running to the nearest battle field.

[He's smiling that shit eating grin, not believing in this cause one bit. Sure, he has things he has back home. Yes, he had mind searing nightmares about his home burning, and yet that isn't enough to cause him to be a pawn.]

[Have the trembling, hesitant voice of a man who's obviously trying to hold it together and failing on so many levels]

Forgive me; I realize it's a trying time for many of us. But my... my friend. She won't wake up and I've tried--

[Hal takes a moment to, basically, breathe. Even if most of it is a long sigh of frustration.]

Tom says she's been this way for the better part of a month. I've been told we have a guild devoted to healing. Can anyone help her? Can anyone at least tell me if this is... Has this happened to anyone else? Recently or otherwise? Please. I need to know if she'll be all right.

[ After several months in the city, Jorah Mormont has never made a post of his own to the network. He never has much of anything to say that someone else can't say instead. The ghosts have been interesting, and the forgotten memories as well, but it takes something a little more personal for Jorah to call attention to himself in this manner.

So, what are we interrupting this program to bring you? Pining, of course.
]

Queen Daenerys of the House Targaryen is no longer in the city. She has not become a specter. She has disappeared entirely and her name has been erased from the list of Travelers.

[ He tries to keep his tone even and largely emotionless, but he essentially fails. The hopelessness behind his words is more of a scream than a whisper. It's a personal situation, you understand. He was aiming for forgiveness and never quite got there. When he goes home, he'll have to start all over again. ]

I understand she was a great help to the healers here on more than one occasion. I believe they would like to be informed of her disappearance, particularly in a time such as this.

She left behind very little, and unfortunately nothing I am entitled to give should a token be requested.
