[Instead of the normal happy go lucky Finnick, the device activates to a more somber one. He is fiddling with a piece of cloth that looks so wrinkled he must have used it for knot tying practice. His eyes have a far away look before he shakes his head, forcing himself to come out of what he was trying to say. He gives a slight uneasy smile. There is a reason that this is filtered from Katniss and Annie particularly.]

So. I have a really good question for you all today.

Let me start off by saying that there are several really hard headed girls from my world here. I need some advice on how to deal with a problem where talking doesn't seem to work with either of them.

[He sits back and pinches the bridge of his nose.]

One girl is too eager to fight, and the other wants me to stay out of the fighting. But, I can't, and I can't communicate that to her. I'm going to do what I can to stay safe, but it's not something that we can see eye to eye on.

How do you deal with that? This is one of the hardest situations I think I've faced. Ever.

[And that's saying something since he's from such a messed up world.]

[While he's been disinclined to address the network as a whole so far, having spent the best part of a month lost and without any firm sense of self only to have his bracelet returned to him and to find that things had become infinitely more interesting during his absence has left him feeling a little peeved. While he can't say he's disappointed to have been excluded from the number who died, he's never liked to be left out of current events. He may like to keep people at something of a remove, but the fact remains that its human interaction - in one form or another - that he thrives on. And so here he is, attempting to make up for his month-long stint of forced abstinence]

Seems like things really escalated around here, huh? The threat of war may have seemed like something distant and entirely removed from you before, but I guess this recent attack must have really hammered it home. Ah, it's kinda scary, and I can't say I'm sorry to have missed out on it regardless of the circumstances.

I wonder, though. I know there were a lot of people who were content to stay here before, but is that still the case now? And how about the rest of you, have your opinions on being here changed? This is likely just a taster after all, things could get a whole lot worse from here on out.

Alright. Here's the deal.

[Nick's looking a bit more serious today, probably because that whole illness thing shook him up, though he would be loath enough to admit it. Being so helpless and watching people die around him- really, it's not like he cared, but the fact that he couldn't be in control while what was clearly an attack on the city was quite the horrible feeling indeed.

[But enough about that. He's making this post for quite a different reason. He hasn't figured out this filter thing yet, so he has to do the next best thing.]

I'm going to do a little poll right now. You see, I realized that when I got here that I wasn't the only inhuman species roaming around the place. So, here's the thing I want you to do for me- if you're not human, respond to me and tell me what you are and what's the deal behind your species, because I'm curious. Maybe there's something similar out there to what I am, I don't know.

...That being said, if you're homo sapien, human, whatever you call yourselves nowadays...don't bother answering. I've had enough of your kind enough in my life, alright? Get lost.

No, really.

[ooc: Nick is just trying to do a poll of how many inhuman species there are in Asgard, but feel free to have your human character comment too! Just because Nick is a jerk doesn't mean that I don't want all the CR for him. Open to all! :Ib]

[The device starts up with Finnick sitting on his couch, his cheeks filled with air and eyebrows knitted. It's almost as if he's nervous about something, but as he releases a slow breath through his teeth. He stands up looking uncharacteristically serious, pacing back and forth for a moment.]

So.

There's something I want to do, and it's not like I can't but I'm going to need a lot of help to do it.

I don't even know why I'm nervous...

[He continues to pace for a second, before he stops and just grins at the camera. It's like a light bulb has gone on in his head, and his brows raise up as his grin gets wider. He drops onto one knee.]

Annie Cresta! I love you! Will you marry me again?

[He winks at the camera and points at it.]

Hey. All you guys are invited. The more the merrier right?

[ Good afternoon, Asgard. You'll see a boy on your bracelet screen, wearing a gracious blue school uniform, staring intensely at the screen. When he notices how he's gazing at it, he'll blush and look away briefly.

Sad thoughts have been surfacing in his mind more frequently; he had few friends and Anri was nowhere to be found. All in all, he was burdened with absolutely nothing, and suffered because of that. The excitement in Asgard was dwindling quick, and he realizes it's his own fault -- not getting out much and relying on disappearing others could just be it.
]

I don't know if any of you would care to hear what I have to say, so you can skip this if you'd like. [ A pause as he breathes in and exhales, continuing. ] I've been contemplating my time here, and in the end I've come up with a single question as my conclusion: why am I here?

Newcomers and old travellers alike -- instead of asking everyone around you that one question, I'd like you to ask yourself it, instead. Why are you here? What makes you special? [ A beat. ] I understand the irony of this network broadcast can be a bit amusing, but trust me, motivations have reason. I'm sorry if this has been asked before.

[ Somehow, he doesn't regret posting this un-anon. ]

[The video feed cuts in to Loki smiling proudly.]

Hello fellow other-Asgardians! I do hope this connection to you is more existent than the one of my Starkphone to the internet.

Speaking of which...

[He adjusts the angle of the camera to point at a table, which has a rectangular device sitting upon it. He continues to speak from out of frame.]

I seem to have gotten the hang of my newly granted power!

[There is a moment of silence before the device on the table begins to levitate. The camera is then adjusted again so Loki can speak into it, he looks pleased.]

Hopefully with my mastery of lifting and moving small objects around my room I will become quite useful in the mission of returning color to the gray-ailed ones!

Oh, hello, again, Asgard!

In a short time, I've been learning Italian, I've also have been learning the Jötunheim, Utgard, the nine realms, and the Æsir. To be honest, Utgard, almost sounds like... a mirror world. A looking glass world.

It means "Outyards" and it is said to be the strong hold of the Jötunn or giants. Why, there's even a Loki in Utgard, Utgarda-Loki. Do any of our Lokis know of this? Or do we have a Utgarda-Loki? Who knows what the god of mischief, I doubt either of them will admit to such a thing.

But the most peculiar thing of all I found in the Prose Edda was the "Mead of Poetry" or "Suttungr's Mead". It sounds absolutely dreadful, but wonderfully curious. It call started with a war and the gods seal a truce by spitting in in a vat. To keep symbol of this truth, they added the blood of Kvasir, who was said to be so wise that there were no questions that he couldn't answer. It concludes with Odin stealing it from Suttungr, a Jötunn.

Gunnlod sat me in the golden seat,
Poured me precious mead:
I'll reward she had from me for that,
For her proud and passionate heart,
Her brooding foreboding spirit.
What I won from her I have well used:
I have waxed in wisdom since I came back,
bringing to Asgard Odhroerir,
the sacred draught.
Hardly would I have come home alive
From the garth of the grim troll,
Had Gunnlod not helped me, the good woman,
Who wrapped her arms around me.

Terrible creatures, these Jötunn, and yet, they go quite hand in hand with the Æsir!

I suppose I should thank the dark-haired Loki for this, he's made me quite curious about these nine realms and strongholds of both gods and giants.

[ooc; Brought to you by this song which is about the mead and may or may not be in Old Norse, I forget.]

[When the video cuts on, Finnick is sitting on his bed with his back against the wall. He's wearing a pair of pajama pants barely visible, but his torso is naked showing off his muscular figure. His head hits the wall behind him with a soft thud as he gives a small grin.]

So, I have been thinking about this a lot lately. Who is actually going to stand up and fight a war that isn't even theirs to fight?

Is it worth it to you all to save some place that you aren't even all that attached to?

[He smiles reaching down beside him, the sound of a paper bag rustling before he holds up his hand which has a single sugar cube between his pointer and thumb. He studies it before popping it into his mouth, and then licking his lips.]

I'm just curious. After all, I have to know who is going to stand beside me when the time comes, right?

[Finnick gives a smile and a small wave.]

Memories.

How important are they to you? Specially your memories here.

I heard that when we go home we don't remember what happened here. I don't think I like that.

[As promised, Keine had been looking into all the points raised during her last announcement, and now, it's time for another one. With a poll, this time.]

A very good afternoon to everyone, once again. I am Keine Kamishirasawa, a healer of House Sigyn.

As some of you might be aware, I have been putting in some efforts towards getting our city a little more organized, with the hopes of having everyone be much more prepared in the case of any emergencies that might occur, especially considering how we are at a time of impending war.

With respects to that, I would like to welcome any that might be interested in putting in a further effort towards coordinating ourselves a little better, so as to allow us react appropriately to emergencies and varying occurrences, to come together for a forum and discussion on potential issues we would have to address for such a thing to be possible.

Now, as this would require each of us to have free time on our hands so as to maximize attendance, I would like any who might be interested in such an effort to fill in the following form, as attached after this post.

Thank you.

[[ ooc: whoops, so late. sorry about that, guys! Choices reflect up to Day 129, even though the Darkness Event takes place from 128th onwards. This is partly to show how oblivious she is of the impending disaster. As stated in the previous ooc post, I'm hoping for it to take place before the Event itself, so if it's possible please refrain from choosing 128th's Night and onwards. Also, this is with reference to this. Do voice any other ooc concerns there as well, or on my HMD.]]

[Thankfully Annie's awaken back in her own body. She's still very much unnerved by the experience of being trapped in a man's body for a days on end. It's truly not an experience she wants to remember.

She hadn't even been able to function enough to contact Finnick and let him know what was going on. She hadn't wanted him to see her like that. Someone not herself.

She's wandered to the lake, and is pacing back and forth on the water's edge, her eyebrows drawn together as she shakes her head.]

You all said this place was better! They never turned me into a man at the Capitol! How's this place better? [She might be just a little angry on top of unnerved. She'd believed this place was better. Had truly believed it.] Lies. This is not better.

[He'd practiced with this thing a few times before actually recording with it.  From what he could tell, he'd gotten the hang of it.  The technology behind it just wasn't something he understood, but it was really impressive.  Sort of what he'd imagined technology should be like in this day and age-- or well, his own day and age.  The video starts, and he looks a bit serious.]

My name is Kyohei Kadota.  I've read Norse myths, but I didn't think they really existed.

[And now looks like he's barely containing a grin.  It wasn't every day that something he'd read in a book turned out to be real to this degree.  It actually made him pretty excited.]

The Library [left him speechless] is pretty great.  I think I'll be there a lot today, so I'd like to talk to anybody.  Anything anybody can tell me about this place is great.  How exactly do we bring color and life back here?

[This was great.  It felt like a real quest.]

Oh, one more thing.  If you know of a good job, I'm looking for one.

[Action for Odin house]

[While he knew there was someone in the room connected to his, he hadn't met them yet, only heard them.  Today, rather than spend all his time exploring the city, Kadota has decided to hang around his room and wait for them to see who it was.  He had his suspicions from the clothing, hair things, paints, and items left in the bathroom - it had to be a girl - but he really should find out, at least, a name.

For now he'll be playing with his frost power on the bathroom mirror.  It was cool.  Not just cool, amazing.  It was one of the best things he'd ever experienced; it was really hard to believe he wasn't dreaming.  The grin on his face is just impossible to smother.]

So, I have a quick question.

[There is the sound of a rustling bag and then the sound of someone crunching down on something. Since it's Finnick and he likes sweets, it's probably just a sugar cube. There is a few moments of silence still before he speaks again.]

I've noticed that some people get really surprised when they encounter someone that doesn't want to leave this place. Is there anyone out there that doesn't want to go back to their world? Besides the obvious people I know of course.

We can't be the only ones that want to stay, right?

[This time, Loki addresses the network from perched on a bit of the wall around the castle plaza. He's as relaxed as always, though he looks just a tad irritated as well this time. People near the gate between the castle plaza and Loki district should be able to interact in person, but first he has something to say.]

You know guys, I like you. I really do. But sometimes I think you're all a little dumb.

See, we set this network up. We know what's said. For that matter, we can easily find out anything you're up to if we decide to take the time to check on you. But we don't even have to do much ferreting. You're really obvious with your displeasure, and I'm sure if I looked a little deeper I might find out some of you are making plans to do something about it.

Now the boss man, he's not too interested in whatever you're doing. I, on the other hand, thought I'd run through a few things to get you up to speed. If you're going to rebel, you're going to want to do it smart. So here we go.

[He holds up a finger, clearly intending to count visually all the way through.]

One. We're gods. You don't know how to kill gods, do you? So before you start any plans, you might want to be sure you'll actually be able to do anything other than irritate us.

Two. Say you did take us out. You've all been really hostile against the idea of governments. If you're all determined to never have anyone tell you what to do, you're going to have anarchy. What do you expect will happen then? No regulations, no network, no bracelets to keep you from getting sick, no barriers to keep the monsters out, no one to keep up alliances and trade agreements. You'll have a bunch of armies on your doorstep in weeks and no organization to help you deal with them.

Three. Say you beat us and find a way to get sent home. You're all happy - 'cept the ones who're going home to being dead -- and you can forget all about our crap. And then every world in existence gets wiped out and remade and everyone you love dies along with you. You can take a bet that we're lying about this whole thing, but do you really want that kind of risk?

Four. If you can't beat us, no one's stopping you from running off and joining someone else. But out there in the world you're either going to our allies, who'll send you back, or our enemies, who'll either kill you or take you in and let you fight for them. And they're going to let everyone you love die too. That or you end up with my brother, and he doesn't care what you do as long as you entertain him. He'll make you a lord one day and a slave the next, just to see you get angry.

So here's the conclusion. You'd better be thinking of how to deal with all of those things before you start. After that, who knows. Maybe you'll get to take over a whole city and all its naive, loyal subjects...

In the meantime, how about you guys tell me what you'd want us to do if we decided to follow your orders. I'm pretty sure number one is quit messing with you, but if that's it how about you propose some plans for how you'll generate your own emotional energy? What will you guys do yourselves to make sure things get fixed as soon as possible? I'm sure you could get that bleeding heart Freyr to argue for you... but who says the big guy's going to favor the opinion of Hostage #1?

Oh well. Might as well try, hey?

Yyyyyo.

[it's a new video entry everybody! and it seems to be the home of what is perhaps the most disdainful looking guy a percentage of the population may ever have seen

[ The accounting job at the bank isn't really the sort of calculating that Mycroft is overjoyed with having. He's been a bit spoiled with considering bigger issues in his former life. But gaining a salary is actually of some importance now -don't think it doesn't piss him off- on top of every other worry, especially since he has more than himself to look after (though that's not new). And he needs work; in his own way, he craves it just as desperately as his brother does. This job is just coppers before a king in every manner, but it is something. Unlike his brother, Mycroft is able to settle for less than what he wants for the sake of practicality. But at least Sherlock does have a little project going for him, so that's one thing off the list of complications.

So long as Mycroft makes sure the way is open to him. And he will.

When his shift is over at the Bank of Dvalin, Mycroft collects his bracelet from the office (no chance of distraction or possible conveyance of account information, nevermind Mycroft's memory for numbers is more astounding than his employers might have figured) and makes his way into Heimdall's district. There, he'll proceed upon a leisurely stroll through Freya, and then into Sigyn district, sending out and answering the various texts and replies as he goes. ]

I trust all are having fun dancing to the tune of the gods. [ loki's voice can be heard before he can be seen, and when the video is turned towards him, it's clear that loki is away from the festivities of the olympics — he'd observed the first day and reached the conclusion that it was all he needed to see. at present, he's sat in a café; it's quiet, and primarily unoccupied if the noise (or lack thereof) is anything to go by.

his gaze flickers briefly to the glass just to one side of him — water, presumably — before turning back to the bracelet; his features are set in a primarily detached expression of mild entertainment. ]

Apparent satisfaction aside, I admit to curiosity on several matters: passage into Utgard has been granted, has it not? And the [ the briefest of pauses, a small quirk of his lips — private amusement, a joke only he knows the punchline to. ] king of the giants, Loki, he shares an uneasy truce with Odin, yes? I wish to know more of Utgard, and if there are any who would travel with me to the realm — be it for curiosity's sake or something more — I would be a fool to refuse company.

[ he doesn't truly mean anyone, of course; through a mixture of conversation and observation, there are only a few that loki would even come close to trusting, but the term is used out of a want for the appearance of inclusion, and curiosity as to who would offer. he pauses again, attention sliding from the bracelet to the table ground for several moments, expression shifting to a pointed (deliberate) look of thought and recollection. ]

Queen Thiazi. [ the name is uttered with a degree of deliberation and a hinted lack of familiarity, and after a few moments, he raises his gaze back to the bracelet. ] Ruler of Jötunheim or — I believe they call it Thrymheim here, do they not? [ beat. ] None are aware of a previous king, are they? A Laufey, perhaps, and what his fate may have been? [ a beat, and a genial smile. ] Idle curiosity and nothing more; I shan't mind if an answer is unforthcoming. [ it'd be preferred, in truth; for as much as he detests the majority of the differences between 'his' asgard and this one, the presence of laufey — or more specifically, the death of laufey — would be a particular hindrance. ] But on the matter of Jötunheim, have any been there? Or if not, have any held discourse with her or her kind, be it in person or through these— [ he waves a hand towards his bracelet dismissively. ] toys?

[ a beat, and he sits up a little straighter, leans forward a little more, and his tone gains a touch of earnestness. ] I find myself wondering: if we are here as mere cannon fodder and warriors for gods that care little for our plights, should we not be seeking to avoid the eventuality altogether? Are you all so content to sit and wait for whatever the fates bring you and [ a twitch of his lips. ] Asgard?

[An older man, perhaps about 60 or a little older with a weathered face and a windswept stock of surprising thick hair for his age, is peering at the bracelet with an contemplative, searching expression. He has rather intense yellow eyes that lend his otherwise innocuous features a strange, somewhat disconcerting air. He speaks after a long moment in a voice with a clear British accent and colored by no small ounce of humorless amusement.]

How convenient that I should be provided such an intriguing little device. For all its tiny size, it is clearly, like much of this, not a trifling trick. To change my form to that of a human, to designate me a traveler when I did not, in fact, travel here: I do not consider myself an honored guest and I doubt that I am the only one.

I have many questions that I would ask, should anyone be willing answer.

[His lips move in a way like they should form in a smile, but they simply stretch, showing more of his upper teeth.]

It is, however, a pleasure to see that magic is an integral part of this Holy City of Asgard after so many years of it being outlawed from Camelot.

[After having spent the last month or so doing research on her own, Keine's work has produced results sufficient for her to go on and introduce a governmental-esque system that she has decided would likely work, considering how people might end up disappearing in this city. She'll show up this midday on the feed, her amiable personality outstanding as ever.]

Good afternoon, fellow Travellers of Asgard, new and experienced. To those that might not recognize myself, I am Keine Kamishirasawa, a Healer from House Sigyn, and formerly a historian from Gensokyo's Hitozato, should you know of it.

I speak to each and every one of you today with a purpose, ladies and gentlemen. After my previous post about a month and a half ago, with my proposal for an election of representatives and leaders from amongst us. Now, for such a system to exist albeit the possibility of such elected representatives being sent home at any given time, research and other countermeasures would have to be drawn up to ensure that it would run smoothly. I have done just that, and have drafted up a system which will allow us to do just that.

Cut for length! But recommended reading! )

(( ooc: So there's that. This is her proposal for a Traveller-run governmental-esque system so it will be important for your characters to know what's happening. Additionally, tags will come at a later time, but I'll be sure to get to them! ))
