Oh, hello, again, Asgard!

In a short time, I've been learning Italian, I've also have been learning the Jötunheim, Utgard, the nine realms, and the Æsir. To be honest, Utgard, almost sounds like... a mirror world. A looking glass world.

It means "Outyards" and it is said to be the strong hold of the Jötunn or giants. Why, there's even a Loki in Utgard, Utgarda-Loki. Do any of our Lokis know of this? Or do we have a Utgarda-Loki? Who knows what the god of mischief, I doubt either of them will admit to such a thing.

But the most peculiar thing of all I found in the Prose Edda was the "Mead of Poetry" or "Suttungr's Mead". It sounds absolutely dreadful, but wonderfully curious. It call started with a war and the gods seal a truce by spitting in in a vat. To keep symbol of this truth, they added the blood of Kvasir, who was said to be so wise that there were no questions that he couldn't answer. It concludes with Odin stealing it from Suttungr, a Jötunn.

Gunnlod sat me in the golden seat,
Poured me precious mead:
I'll reward she had from me for that,
For her proud and passionate heart,
Her brooding foreboding spirit.
What I won from her I have well used:
I have waxed in wisdom since I came back,
bringing to Asgard Odhroerir,
the sacred draught.
Hardly would I have come home alive
From the garth of the grim troll,
Had Gunnlod not helped me, the good woman,
Who wrapped her arms around me.

Terrible creatures, these Jötunn, and yet, they go quite hand in hand with the Æsir!

I suppose I should thank the dark-haired Loki for this, he's made me quite curious about these nine realms and strongholds of both gods and giants.

I shouldn't? Is the Prose and Poetic Edda something I should not vest my time with?

On that note, I would not be surprised. It seems like an ongoing theme between gods and giants.

I have little care for how you spend your time — just remember that if the truth were told, stories would be far less enjoyable, would they not?

You will have to forgive me, I'm a little skeptical even with both the Prose and Poetic Edda, along with the god of mischief, himself. I simply wish to have a better understanding of what you speak of.

[She finds that humorous, too.] Yes. Much like the Titans and their gods. Giants are very prominent in stories.

I'm sure there's plenty to do if you just apply a little imagination. Not that I think reading up on the mythology surrounding this place is a bad thing, even if there are discrepancies.

I like to think that I am quite familiar with what a mind can do with imagination. It's also not every day I get to speak to a god, too.

You should. They're good. It doesn't all match this place, though.

That entirely doesn't surprise me, the other Loki talks how this is nothing like his Asgard.

If you mean, do we have an Utgard Loki in this Asgard, then yes, he's even posted to the network about a trick he played on us.

If you mean a Traveller Utgard Loki ... I haven't heard met one yet.

I've heard of the one from Utgard. Long ago he kidnapped Karnilla and was promptly thwarted.

[In his opinion she was better off kidnapped, she caused quite a bit of trouble for Asgardia.]

No one has seen the Loki of Utgard since long before my time though, my elderself would know more of him but alas I am not he.

Um, the Loki I was before I was this Loki. He fell with my Asgard and I was brought back by my brother Thor as I am now.

Yes and no. It was one of the Lokis who said this place wasn't the Asgard he knew of and it's true. There isn't a rainbow bridge or any gateways to the nine realms.

Which part? There's so much and I've only scratched the surface.

I never really read up on it back home, so I wouldn't know the difference!

What parts can we go look at, and what are they like? I'm not sure which gates have been opened!

I'm afraid there isn't. At least, not ones I know of and I doubt any god would advertise it.

That's a shame. I'd be interested to see what these other realms held. Perhaps they have magic that this particular place does not.
