[ As per usual when a holiday he celebrates "approaches", France decides to address the network! After all, around this time of year is when April Fools might be, right--? He's wearing a cute pink dress for the occasion, and he's also all shaven and with his hair nice, looking quite pretty. This holiday is an excuse for him to look as he pleases, after all! ]

Bonjour, Asgard! It's come to my attention that some here do not know of April Fools, either! But I suppose now that's to be expected when it comes to Earth holidays, and the different timeframes we've all been pulled from, oui?

Well, you are in luck! Big Brother Francis shall explain April Fools Day to you now! You see, it occurs on the first of April, around springtime! And it's a great day for playing practical jokes on everyone!

[ he winks and twirls about in his dress. ]

I particularly like wearing dresses on this day myself, oui [ or nothing... though fortunately for the network, he doesn't bother mentioning that ] -- though others may have different ideas in mind when it comes to tricks and sharing good humor! Just remember you want to laugh, oui? That is actually also how this celebration can help Asgard -- how could laughter not help bring the color back?

So! As for tricks I've played in the past -- I often took pictures of my fellow friends [ cough, coughs ] -- in embarrassing situations! One of Arthur even looked like this! [ and he holds up a sketch showcasing a particular situation of England... sleeping, and cuddling a teddy bear. ]

There's all sorts of pranks you can play, so just be sure you have fun with them, non? Even if some are annoyed with you, the whole point is to laugh!

[He stands, looking away from his viewers. He is uncomfortable to be here, does not understand the purpose of why he has been brought, but knows more than he did before thanks to his ... House mate. At least that is something. Taking a breath he speaks. It took him long enough to figure this out, he shouldn't waste his breath.]

Hello. I am told that you are called Asgard. This is a network, is it not? Communicative magic. I have seen such things before, though not on a large scale as it operates here.

[He pauses, deliberating, choosing his next words carefully. Atem is always careful.]

Though I already know the consequences of taking the bracelet off I still have so many questions ... I want to know many things, like what I am supposed to do here. I was already told that it is my choice, but this world is new to me and I would like second and third opinions. As I have found back home it is always best to receive such opinions with grace and dignity. It is why any good king does not rule alone and upon his own power.

[He crosses his arm over his chest..]

I just do not like to take action without being informed.

[ Last "Halloween", it was treats, this "Valentine's Day", it's flowers. Specifically, roses. France is beaming as he aims the bracelet's camera at baskets among baskets of red roses in full bloom. ]

Mes amis, perhaps you would like a rose or two, or three, to give to people you love this Valentine's Day, oui?

Or maybe even a full bouquet?

The rose is one of France's very favorite flowers, I assure you, so everyone will be bound to love them as much as I do!

And you surely would love a magnificent Valentine's Day, oui?

[ video/action for baldr. ]
Okay, so it's been what — a day, since I got here. And it isn't so bad I guess, if not kinda boring.

[ There's a beat, and the sound of a piece of paper ruffling can be heard off screen. ]

That's not really what I wanted to talk about, though. I know this is supposed to be some different world, something along those lines, but I was wondering—

[ The moment he tries to hold up the sheet though, Arcanine decides that it's a good idea to suddenly interrupt and attempt to press her face against the camera like so. Thrown off guard by the sudden attack, the paper flutters off somewhere in the distance. ]

—Wha?! Hey, what do you think you're doi—

[ The video cuts off there, and it'll be a good five minutes before the next portion shows up. If anyone happens to be outside Baldr at the moment, they may be able to catch a disgruntled Blue trying to calm down the way too excitable Pok
émon. ]
[ text. ]
… Ignore the video from before. Technical difficulties. [ Except not really. ]

But this is actually what I wanted to show earlier. It's something that comes from my world, and I wanted to know if I was the only one or not. If it means anything to you, let me know?

[ Drawing is one of the few things Blue doesn't pride himself in. Though, a Pokéball is simple enough he thinks — and far more universal than an actual Pokémon. Else, he'd just showcase his Arcanine. … But that had already happened, didn't it. ]

05 February 2013 @ 05:37 pm
[ Today's video finds two faces (familiar to some) sat beside each other at the corner of the kitchen table in the New Camelot household, Arthur's hands folded comfortably across the wooden surface. He's done this a million times before, though it's been awhile since his last formal address. ]

Travellers to Asgard - friends, allies, and strangers alike - a good day to you all. It has been some time since we first stepped foot on Asgard's soil, and given the recent ... changes, in population, I feel an introduction may be in order. [ A smile, cordial. ] I am Arthur Pendragon, King of Camelot, and to my right is my idiot manservant -

[Merlin leans in toward the screen, temporarily blocking Arthur from sight.] Friend. He meant to say "friend."

[ And Arthur shoves him right back into place with a hand to his face, still smiling. ] - my completely imbecilic and utterly useless manservant, Merlin. Recent times have found us in a rare period of relative peace within the city walls, giving us time enough to find our bearings and breathe a moment's tranquility.

[Arthur gets a jab to his side for his troubles, Merlin smiling all the while.] That's why we thought this might be a good time for us to hold a tournament. Well, two, actually. One for magic and one for non-magical combat. According to Arthur, the knights back in Camelot would use the tournaments to hone their abilities and keep their senses sharp - I think it's all just an excuse to bash each other around - when they aren't waging war. And, well, since we'll be expected to fight when the Giants recover...we could probably use the practice.

[ Arthur inhales deeply through his nose, shaking his head just a little, smile gone tight. He mutters something about 'should've written a damn script' before knocking Merlin's knee with his own beneath the table and grinning charitably once more. ]

Which makes it my distinct pleasure to announce the Tournament of Worlds, your opportunity to stand amongst your peers and let your abilities shine to their fullest. The tourney will commence on Day Two-Hundred and Nineteen; you have until the day beforehand to register your name for combat. Further information can be found attached at the end of this message.

Oh! And-- [He'll just be nudging Arthur out of the way again, thank you very much.] There'll be a festival of sorts outside the Arena the day before the tournament starts. The Natives are going to be setting up some booths again, and you're all welcome to join in, too.

[ ffs this time, Arthur's just going to grab Merlin's head and shove it under his arm, driving his knuckle into his scalp while grinning at the feed. ] So! Give us your best, Asgard. We hope to see the whole lot of you there.

[ And somewhere amidst Merlin's flailing and Arthur's noogeying, the bracelet gets knocked off the table to show their feet kicking at each other until they both fall out of their seats, still wrestling with each other, and the feed ends. ]

Uh, hey there! Some weather we're having, huh? It never gets this chilly where I'm from! This place sure is different from Shinjuku. Is this normal?

[Oh boy, speaking to a network of nearly 250 people is just a little bit intimidating, especially since Takato already knows that he's one of the youngest Travellers. A bit of sheepish laughter won't make anything more awkward, will it?]

I'm Takato, and I still have a lot of questions about.... uh, everything. I already know what happened, but is that why there aren't many people in the Freyr house? I mean, why would you have a slide on the second floor if almost no one lives there?

[He's alluding to Freyr's sacrifice, but bringing that up may be a bad move. A really bad move, considering what he's seen thus far.]

Anyway, what I really want to ask about is the drawing power! I mean, it's really cool but I think I'm doing something wrong because it doesn't always work the way I want it to. Is that supposed to happen or am I having technical—er, magical, I guess, difficulties? I like to draw for fun too, but I haven't seen many other people doing it. I can’t be the only one, right?

Oh, and I was wondering.... has anyone heard of Digimon before? [He visibly flinches without warning, and unsurprisingly, another round of sheepish laughter follows.] I mean the card game! The Digimon card game! I have a bunch of cards with me but I can't play by myself.

Man... I really gotta keep tabs on this thing.

[ the feed turns on to Hilda muttering to herself and holding her head in one hand. she seems to be in some kind of pain - enough to momentarily distract her from the fact that she's recording. but once she brings her gaze back to the screen, she manages a smile. ] Hey, everyone. Miss me?

I guess I kind of dropped off the face of the earth for a little while there. Sorry. [ a chuckle. ] I've never lost my bracelet up until now, so this is kind of new to me. If anyone has a remedy for a splitting headache, could you let me know? My healing's kinda weak right now.

Oh! [ she's remembered something, and it's enough to make her perk up! ] About Poketopia... We've sort of lost some of our workers over the past few weeks. That means we're a little short-staffed, and we could reeeeeally use some more help! We'll be holding a sale in the next few days, so you should come and check us out if you're interested in getting a job at a cafe! You won't regret it, promise.

[ PRIVATE to Pokemon Trainers ]

The house is totally empty! Where'd you guys go?

[ PRIVATE to Hope Estheim ]

So... How's the egg doing?

I... I don't understand...

[The small, slender Japanese girl with the high ponytail and downtilted eyes might be familiar to some. She's standing in front of Heimdall House with a newcomer's letter in her hands, dressed in the same uniform as the first time she arrived, but it doesn't quite fit right anymore - she's gotten taller since she made it, started to fill out a little. At least in Asgard, which proves that she hasn't been completely reset.

The confusion on her face starts to contort into alarm as her words confirm that truth.]

Isn't - it over? I remember Freyr - when he - wasn't that the end? But now it's like none of it ever happened... the letter, and the maid, and everything looks just like the first time...

[And now edging into panic as she leans against one of the house's walls, wrapping her arms around her middle and shivering.]

What's going on?!

((ooc: and the thing is done ;D))

Is there anyone who likes music, by any chance? Anyone who likes to sing or play an instrument?

I was wondering if it was possible to organize a concert at Draupnir, and if so have the musicians here in the city participate in it -- if they'd like to, at least.

I figured that it would be a nice way to offer a source of entertainment as well as an opportunity to socialize with everyone else.

I've always believed in the idea that music brings people closer together.

You're all liars, all of you.

[While the words are already jarring, out of place, when spoken with Freya's soft voice, they don't even begin to compare to the rest of the picture. Something is wrong. The goddess, usually so cool and collected in front of the travelers, is nothing like that now. It looks as if she hasn't been sleeping in days, since her twin's death, and her slender frame trembles with emotion.

Freyr had always been the friendlier, warmer of the two siblings, but that doesn't mean there is no warmth to be found in his sister. No, Freya loves, just as her brother did. She loves fiercely and boldly. She loves enough to fight for those she cares for.

It just never occurred to anyone that this would be a problem.]

I can still save him. [There's a harsh, hysterical quality to her voice that wasn't there before.] And you, with all your beautiful, noble words, will not help me, despite all he has done to spare your lives.

[She bows her head, hair tumbling down her shoulders and hiding her expression from the viewers.]

Stay within your guarded walls then. I will fix this myself.

[As soon as the video ends, all members of Freya's house will feel a strange, disconnected sensation and have difficulties using their powers as she cuts them all off. This will fade within a minute, and the powers will be returned to normal after that.]

[ It seems France's bracelet has begun recording without his knowledge. He's dressed in this fashionable (?) nightgown, sitting up in bed with an unsettled look on his face. ]

-- Quoi? The other nations were all sent back home?

...Hmph. It's not like Big Brother France needs their help, anyway!

I can help Asgard and get back home on my own! Even if that man's sacrifice was rather worrisome...

[ it seems he's finally realizing just what he's gotten into. ]

And -- it's not like it's lonely without the other nations, anyhow!

[ he crosses his arms with another "hmph", obviously denying that he's just fooling himself. ]

[ and for anyone who didn't know he was a Nation, well, now you know? ]

[A video feed starts on the network, at first seemingly nothing but a swirl of shadows. After a moment, they thin, slide aside, and reveal Hel. Her expression is as drawn as ever, but she looks tired more than angry.]

Now that my work is sorted, a message. We've earned a reprieve. Ragnarok has been delayed.

And only delayed.

We cannot predict what Thiazi and Surt will do now. The ground here is all untested.

[A smile, not entirely humorous or friendly.]

Don't think that we haven't been listening to you. But we can't send you off yet. The war may be at bay, but the grey sickness is not. The newcomers, elves and humans of Vanaheim and Utgard, have begun to succumb. Too much was lost, and it is taking back some of what you'd gained.

It is not, by any means, over. This is only a temporary respite.

Use it well.

[She stares into the screen for a long minute, unblinking.]

Oh, yes, and if you have any questions, perhaps someone is listening. Do try not to be asinine, though.

[The feed cuts.]

[ooc note: War closure and Q&A! Hel's as sweet and friendly as ever, but this really is a post for NPCs to answer questions, and we'll be tagging the post as we can. If you'd like Hel in particular, go ahead and address her. She's otherwise probably not going to be that helpful.]

[ Charles adjusts the camera in front of him, giving a few seconds to look more put-together. Adjusting his blazer before he offers the kind citizens of Asgard an easy mellowed out smile. ]

I do hope everyone is alright given the circumstances of the battle?

Firstly, I'd like to open up this announcement by saying - war can be quite a traumatic thing and not everyone is acclimatized to that. There were a number of horrific sights that transpired, some of us have lost friends and I believe this is an ample time to offer up some of my services.

[ charles still isn't used to the fact he's without his telepathy, but it's not an excuse to stop helping people in his opinion. ]

If you need someone to talk to about anything. My ears and door are always open. I just want to make sure no one does anything brash as a result of what's transpired and event like these weigh heavy on the mind. [ obligatory hi erik comment. ]

Your concerns will be held with the strictest confidentiality.

Secondly, I'd like to inquire about the other side of the war. These giants. Does anyone know what they are fighting for? If this truly is a battle between our cause and theirs. I believe in finding understanding. Perhaps if we find a commonality - or bridge the gap - we can find solutions.

cut for visual representation )

[ Arthur hasn't been gone long. Many of you likely wouldn't have even noticed his absence at all. But he is returned now, just over a year older and with a new crown that he may or may not have stolen from Burger King is far more ornate than a Prince's coronet hanging in his hands. He may not be much older but he certainly looks aged. ]

It would seem this realm has not tired of its want for Kings and Queens.

[ A tight lipped smile. King Arthur of Camelot has just come from the middle of his coronation, and he is hardly amused. ]

I would ask a question of you, Travellers, if you care to answer. How many of you believed you would return home following the battle of Ragnarok, as was promised? How many of you were prepared for it? Wished for it?

[ A pause. ]

Are there any among you that held dread for the prospect, and are glad now to remain in this city for however long you might?

[ He did, once. Now, he is not so sure. He rolls the crown in his hands once, shifts. ]

Or - an easier inquiry, if you are not inclined to answer the other. How many have returned to their native realms, despite the unresolved conflict? Those of you that have made my acquaintance or would call yourselves my friends, I ask that you make known your presence.

[ Another beat, another tense smile. ]

I suppose Asgard is not yet finished with me after all.

and some action-y things, yay! )

14 November 2012 @ 03:13 pm
[It's roughly noon. The armies are staring each other down across a field of mud and gravel and blood. It's clear that Asgard and their allies are heavily battered down, suffering from heavy losses and damaged morale. It feels like today is the last day. It seems like there's no chance that anything but the end of the world could come today.

Then a video feed starts on the network, surveying the view from a high vantage point. Freyr isn't on screen, but he's close enough to speak and be heard clearly. But even if he weren't close he'd still be heard. There's a convenient little spell projecting his voice all across his side of the battlefield and through the city itself. It's a stern voice, tense and short instead of the gentle, patient attitude he usually shows.]

Sound the retreat. Get all living things within the city walls. Abandon that which cannot be swiftly carried. Now.

[The video continues in silence while his orders are spread through the forces and followed. It takes little more than ten minutes to move everyone inside at an ordered dash. Supply wagons and tents are left in the field and people and animals are removed until all that remains is ghost town of a camp. Small groups of enemies that try to chase are quickly and efficiently deterred by fire from the flying ship, and eventually all are safe inside.

He wants this recorded. It's more than just to be sure his announcement is heard -- he wants to be sure no one forgets how close they were and how important this battle was. His ship maneuvers to the center of the field, and he takes a graceful leap to the ground just yards from the enemy front lines. At that point, he begins to glow.]

...Do not doubt that all of you would have died this day. This is not a game. It's not a trick. Everyone and everything you love is and has been riding on this. I'm sure, even now, that the war will not end. You will all have to continue to fight, and for that you have my sincerest apologies. You also have my sincerest faith. I have never seen hearts so strong as those who stand for what they believe in when they are so far from home. Whether you hate us or not that remains true. I am sure you will triumph in the end.

Thus, I am honored to have observed true beauty in all of you. Thank you and good luck.

[His voice wavers by the time he's done. He'd like to be emotional, but showing fear and regret won't help anyone and so he holds it in.

It's a distant angle, but the video might just catch a hint of a solemn smile. Then, with a flash like a bomb the view goes white and then blinks out. After that anyone looking out past the gates will see a wide, shallow scar on the land, stretching from just feet away from the city walls to what used to be a point three quarters of the way into the enemy army. In that place, nothing remains but rock-solid round covered in a layer of fine white dust. Not even a bit of metal or a single plant mars that flat surface. For a moment anyone in Freyr house will have their powers flicker off, then back on within a few seconds.

But the enemy is decimated, and shows no signs of coming close again.]

[ooc note: That's it for actual plot events! The enemy army will stay at a distance the rest of this IC day (tonight and tomorrow), and will leave in the morning (Nov 16). There will be another NPC post on the 17th, but other than that from this point on is just cleanup. Characters who died will return on the 17th! Thank you for playing!

Oh and P.S. you can get comments from the other gods, so do feel free to respond to this post to talk to them or just to talk to each other. Threadjacking is A+! It is a free-for-all in this post, even for quick action threads.]

[It's evening, and Nakama has once again been ordered to sleep. Before she does that, though, she has a few things to say. The Arena is visible behind her, the rows of beds and crowds of healers, and she looks ready to drop off at any moment, but her voice is strong and clear.]

So I realized awhile back... even if we win, this'll be goodbye, won't it? Everyone will be going home.

[She pauses, takes a deep breath, and continues.]

There's something a lot of my friends know, but not all of you do, and I think it's time I told you. In my own world, I was already dead - I had to sacrifice myself to save the planet. So that means when I go home, I'll be returning to nothing. I only say this so you'll understand how important it is that I say what's coming next.

All of you... if I knew you, if we were close, if we exchanged a few words... if you even saw me on the street and smiled at me... you've given me so much more than I could ever hope to put into words. You've completely changed how I see both myself and the world. You've taught me about hope, and friendship, and caring about myself as well as other people. For all of the terrible things that have happened here, this place has been more of a home to me than I could've imagined possible. And for that, I thank every single person in Asgard. I even thank the gods, for bringing me here and letting this happen.

So, I - I guess this is goodbye. [Her eyes finally start to mist over, but she's smiling.] Take care of yourselves, all of you, in your home worlds. I hope that you'll be able to find peace and happiness. And - I know you won't be able to remember me, but just know for now that you changed the life of one person for the better. Whoever you are.

[With that, she curls up on the floor, closes her eyes, and ends the feed.]

((ooc: There will be no replies to the tags on this entry. Nakama has gone to sleep, and she doesn't want to look back on (what she thinks is) her last farewell. But anyone who wants to leave her one "final" message is free to!))

[ the camera focuses on France and when he's confident the bracelet is working right, he flashes a bright smile. ]

Bonjour, Asgard!

Very soon, I will begin preparations for Halloween! I think that's two days after today-?

[ he's not certain because of the time difference between Asgard and the other worlds, but at least it sounds right to him? ]

The magnifique Francis Bonnefoy, that is, I, shall be making the very best of French sweets for the citizens of Asgard to enjoy! I will also be showing off my fabulous costume and teach about Halloween for those who do not know of it, as well! I expect to see you there!

[Today, Loki is addressing the populace again, from the comfort of his little office presumably in the castle.

But he is not doing so alone. This time, everyone might have to check their blood alcohol levels, as his complete mirror image is with him.]

So, about those animals. Not our fault. This guy thought it was a good idea to fuck around in war time.

But now we’ve got it sorted out and he’s going to help us not die. Conveniently for everyone, this means you can still go shopping for fancy clothes and computers in Utgard. It also means we have one less gate to worry about having breached. Hopefully.

[“This guy”, lurking somewhere behind Asgard’s Loki, gives a cheerful shrug.]

What can I say? Some of you got very nice, useful gifts out of it. Think of it as your friendly neighbor giving you a hand with your wartime shopping.

That’s like kicking someone in their broken leg and giving them a copper. Not even I think that’s funny.

You had a shit sense of humor to begin with. That isn’t my fault.

I had wittier influences. Satire above belching, brother.

If that’s what you want to believe. Your influences haven’t been doing their job if they let you post this monstrosity. I thought it couldn’t get any worse, but I was obviously wrong. Your art’s even shittier than your humor. [He’s embarrassed for you.]

It’s called mocking. I didn’t leave cow pies everywhere. And this is an irrelevant subject for a public address.

A public address to show me off. How flattering. [He gives his twin a look.] Are we done here?

Done enough. Your face is nice enough to look at but I’m sure they tire of your personality.

So anyway, things are going to blow up at any time, we’d like a little help keeping an eye out. Pick a god, but if any of you have time, we’d like a Watch organized in every district. No fighting, just keeping an eye out for trouble. And if you want to help the war medics or the engineers and builders, talk to the elves. That’s about it for now.

[Asgard’s Loki sighs -- but then he pauses, as if he remembered something, and grins.]

But before we go, I believe there’s a pretty girl out there that I owe something to. This is for you, sweetheart.

[And with that he turns and decks his twin.]

[ooc: Asgard!Loki & Utgard!Loki. The OOC post with the leader positions for groups will be up later today!]

[ On the screen appears a rather attractive Frenchman; dressed more casually rather than wearing his standard uniform. France seems rather comfortable despite his current predicament of being new to Asgard. He's found his way around easily enough, however, and learnt the basic information he needed to learn. While he's not so great with computer like devices, he's finally figured out how to get onto the network. ]

Bonjour, Asgard! You may call me Francis Bonnefoy.

I come from the lovely country of France! Have you heard of it?

I suppose I have to accept this mission to "restore the color to Asgard", non? Regardless if I have to or not, I will accept. I come from the country of love, after all!

It'd be lovely if you'd introduce yourselves to me!

[ his laid back attitude changes to a more serious one at this point, though the bright smile he's wearing never leaves his face. ]

Also, by chance, would anyone have information on an Arthur Kirkland?

Seeing as I'm here now... A lot seems to be going on. But first the only thing that wasn't explained to me-

WHERE ARE MY PANTS!?!

[Yes Germany arrived without his pants. Thankfully the video is chest up.]
