I do hope everyone is alright given the circumstances of the battle?

Firstly, I'd like to open up this announcement by saying - war can be quite a traumatic thing and not everyone is acclimatized to that. There were a number of horrific sights that transpired, some of us have lost friends and I believe this is an ample time to offer up some of my services.

[ charles still isn't used to the fact he's without his telepathy, but it's not an excuse to stop helping people in his opinion. ]

If you need someone to talk to about anything. My ears and door are always open. I just want to make sure no one does anything brash as a result of what's transpired and event like these weigh heavy on the mind. [ obligatory hi erik comment. ]

Secondly, I'd like to inquire about the other side of the war. These giants. Does anyone know what they are fighting for? If this truly is a battle between our cause and theirs. I believe in finding understanding. Perhaps if we find a commonality - or bridge the gap - we can find solutions.

[ Charles sort of takes pride in trying to be put together when other people can't be. He wants to be a pillar of support at all costs, even at the expense of it wearing on him. Besides, he can now fully say that this war was nothing compared to his last. But he can't talk about Cuba so he'll talk about other things. ]

[ oh how to answer this question. theoretically, he's not a student of behavioral psychology by any means. he's a professor of genetics by occupation so he gives a pause before answering it neatly. ]

Is a kind act really so strange? People get volatile - not everyone is used to circumstances like that. I think it's important to keep the mind at ease.

[ France usually likes to show he is better than everyone else, and so doing something like seeking out therapy would be unheard of from someone like him. But very few here so far have figured out he is a nation, and few also know of his history as said nation. There's quite a few reasons why he chose to not participate in the war, even, but he had no one to talk to about said reasons. ]

[ And, well, this man seems trustworthy, so he'll sit with his hands folded in his lap and grin brightly at him. ]

Monsieur, any advice for someone who has lost his immortality, and putting him in the line of fire without a battle plan - and strong allies - could possibly affect an entire nation back home were he to die here?

He is not a coward, but he needs to be reassured he'd be supported were he to help out, oui?

[ Charles tries to be trust worthy. He takes responsibilities where he shouldn't. These are stepping stones to growing bald and being professor x but these are the paths he has to take. He can't - sit there and uselessly do nothing and Charles likes guiding people. Charles likes the idea that he can help. ]

[ and then he takes France's concern and takes a moment to process everything. he assumes France is important, not quite the same level of a nation - but important enough to inquire in such a way. So he addresses things slowly, chips off blocks where he can. ]

War is a choice, monsieur. It does not make you coward to have something to lose.

( she would have once said that giants were only in stories. bran loved those ones - the scariest tales that old nan could possibly think of. he had dreams of being the gallant knight to vanquish the monsters and save them all. it's not quite like she might have imagined it as a child, but the prospect of giants going to war ( like the others, the rumors that circulated and were ultimately dismissed ). alayne finds it difficult to be compassionate. she finds it difficult to believe that such a gap could be bridged.

Do you believe that such a thing is possible? To find peace with giants, even after they have laid waste to the armies of Asgard? Perhaps some will find that difficult to forgive.

[ so are mutants in a way. things meant to be only fiction, but charles knows he isn't alone. but charles believes that even a bridge burnt can be crossed somehow and perhaps he's forgiving to a fault. but when asked honesty? he's willing to put what's transpired behind him.

but charles hasn't been through what alayne has been through. ]

There's always the option to be the better men. We attack them because we're adamant on surviving. They attack us because as far as we know, that's how they'll survive.
