Entry the First

[He stands, looking away from his viewers. He is uncomfortable to be here, does not understand the purpose of why he has been brought, but knows more than he did before thanks to his ... House mate. At least that is something. Taking a breath he speaks. It took him long enough to figure this out, he shouldn't waste his breath.]

Hello. I am told that you are called Asgard. This is a network, is it not? Communicative magic. I have seen such things before, though not on a large scale as it operates here.

[He pauses, deliberating, choosing his next words carefully. Atem is always careful.]

Though I already know the consequences of taking the bracelet off I still have so many questions ... I want to know many things, like what I am supposed to do here. I was already told that it is my choice, but this world is new to me and I would like second and third opinions. As I have found back home it is always best to receive such opinions with grace and dignity. It is why any good king does not rule alone and upon his own power.

[He crosses his arm over his chest..]

I just do not like to take action without being informed.

Well, you're supposed to relax here, that's what I think! If you want to take a job or hang out in the library or... something like that! I don't think it's too hard if there's something you enjoy that you don't get to do much at home because of time limits, you can spend your time doing that!

[ a few seconds later. ]

... A king? I didn't know kings still existed!

[Enjoy? What did he enjoy? Chariot races, hunting, boating up and down the river, board games ... ]

Well, something tells me that there is not much to do here that would fit my interests. I'm afraid it's left to my skills then.

.... Egypt doesn't have a king though. Masuta said all they had was a president? I think it was a president!

I am so used to being the ones to hold festivals, to be able to walk into any temple and prostate myself before any god, that this idea is foreign to me.

[He sighs, running his hands through his hair.]

What is a president? I have never heard that word. In my land they call me Pharaoh, so I am not sure what Egypt you are talking about but it is not mine.

I think you can still have a festival here though! And if it's big enough maybe the gods will come say hi!

[ She's beaming! Looks like your frustration is lost on her. ]

I guess not! You don't have the.. uh, presidenty aura. A president is someone who sort of governs a nation, but they're not chosen by the gods or something like that, they're picked by the people!

... How would one even hold such a thing?

[He was honestly confused.]

Well, I'm not an expert in world history, but at some point people got mad at how kings had "divine" right but they didn't? So by claiming everyone was equal and everyone had the same rights, we abolished mo-monar..monarch? No wait that's a butterfly... but yeah! We got rid of kings and put in presidents instead!

I guessed you were a king because you have that weird headband thingy that some kings have in pictures? I think it's called a circlet.

[He paused, staring at her a moment before offering a small smile at her gesture.]

Well this is just one of my crowns, really. The others are taller, and the most common is actually two crowns, one really tall red one inside this white crown.

You lost me, that all sounds really complicated...

[ Said flatly, because she is very confused about how you can be the son of two people unless that's how adoptions work, but she'll be smiling in return.

[Atem looked at the other for a good minute before answering, feeling slightly like he was being patronized.]

There is a war going on; some choose to fight it, to avoid Ragnarök, which would lead to the rebirth of this world and the ones connected to it - yours.

Recently, the one the Gods are fighting has made contact with the Travelers through this network. I suppose you can try to understand her point of view as well, instead of fighting her.

There is also a sickness - the greyness - that has spread through this city and taken the colors. For the colors to come back, not only to places and things, but to people and animals, along with their emotions, your emotions are necessary.

Or you can choose not to do anything at all, simply live, the way you think it's most fit.

Well ... At least that is something more than what everyone else is saying. I suppose I could find a way to consult the Gods of this world about fighting.

At this point I am better suited to that than I am anything else.

They often address to travelers on this network. i believe they also have what you may call "an inbox".

... What is an inbox? Is that something to do with this strange network of magic? I barely know how to use this bracelet ...

[He sighed, clearly frustrated.]

In a way, yes. You may leave a message to a specific god only, that no one is able to read but that god in question.
