Where I'm from there're lot of boys who've left a bit of their brain on the battlefield. Good respectable men. Men who now lose their senses from time to time...believe they're whizzbangs...Smash things...Scare people.

Frightening thing when the brain goes.

[There's the soft sound of a striking match as he lights a candle in his room]

What i'm getting at is...what exactly will this place do to the brain if we're 'ere too long?

[Adachi looks like hell; like he'd been run over by a bus multiple times, patched up a little, and then tossed under the bus again. He's extremely disoriented, and his face is pressed up against a pillow as he focused his bracelet on him.]

Okay... serious question here, guys:

...how much time actually went by between everyone going nuts and right now? Please tell me it was at least one month?

[Because anyone that went looking for him the day previous would have found him sleeping, and unable to wake up.]

[[ooc; Adachi's been canon updated to the end of his story line in Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, so he's lived half a year while sleeping one Asgard day. He's a little disoriented. Just a little.]]

Those who knew Bunnymund, the rabbit's gone home. And you know what they say, if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all.

It's just you lot and me now.

[He doesn't care, but this might stop someone from accusing him of elaborate foul play.]

[On screen today - Kanji's trying to look the smartest, coolest and calmest he's ever looked. It's definitely not perfect, though, but he starts...]

Hey.

I realised, yesterday... It's been a long time since I came here. And people here have done a lot for me. I know it wasn't, really, but it feels like it was just a coupla days ago a load of you helped me out when I was just a kid. It meant a lot to me.

So - I wanna pay folks back.

Do somethin' to help out that ain't just my job, you know? And what I can do is sew and fix things. Clothes are damn expensive at the moment. With the way things are, we've all gotta try and get by.

What I'm thinkin' of doing is runnin' some kinda - uh, workshop to show anyone who wants the basics of sewing things. How to fix buttons, how to fix basic holes and that sorta thing. I can do some'f the more complicated bits, too, if anyone wants.

So, anyone interested? Come by Everyday Sunshine later. If this works, an' nothing gets in the way, I might do a few more'a these. What d'you think?

[Anyone who does follow him up on his offer will find him setting up a couple of tables of sewing and craft equipment, and hoping for the best...]

In the spirit of cooperation, I'd like to offer lessons on shadow control, archery, horseback riding and swordsmanship.

Those who think this is a trap, think again. I don't want to lose any more than you do. Speak up and I'll see what I can do. I'm not going to work with just anyone, mind, and I'm not promising to be what I'm not.

[But... be what this place needs, indeed.]

[ Feferi is huddled underneath a blanket, with it pulled all the way over her horns so that only her face is visible. ]

Okay, but if there is going to be a Welcome Committee, you need to do something more than just parties. They are fun but they do not help very much once they're done.

[ You. Not us, even though she's still part of the group. She's still residually grouchy over the whole ordeal and the cold isn't helping very much. ]

You know, like clothes. Warm clothes. Extra blankets. Maybe toys for kids because I do not think they will hold back on whp they bring here. I know things are tight and no one really has a whole lot to give right now but if anyone has stuff they're not using, you should think about donating it. I think there is already enough to get by, but what kind of welcome is that?

[There's a pause, before Athelstan finally switches over to video. His breath is coming in shuddery gasps, and he's obviously... not well. There are bruises and lacerations scattered across what's visible of his face, healing black eyes, small cuts draped across his forehead. There's not much to see from the chin down though, as the rest of him is covered in an old monk robe, vastly different from the patchwork leathers he had been known to wear before.

Frankly, he looks a bit like hell, but he keeps the video feed pointed toward his torso and face, his arms and legs decidedly out of the picture.]

-I'm sorry, [he manages to breathe softly, before refocusing and forcing a slight smile.] My writing seems to have suffered in my absence.

[There's another pause, before-]

The gods found me again and took me, but they neglected the crook I had been using. I- [He winces, disliking to ask, but...] -I need assistance to get back to my home. I can't... walk without it.

[Which is embarrassing enough. He opens his mouth then, as if to say something more, but he thinks better of it before long and shuts off the video- revealing a heavily bandaged hand, for just a split moment before the feed cuts off.]

Heeeey guys, who else is on the Welcome Committee? And do we have like any idea what we're doing?? Maybe we should figure something out, throw around some suggestions.

For example, I think we should throw welcome parties BUT I don't want to do any of the work so if one of you guys could pick up that slack it would be great.

OH ALSO open question even to non team members still reading for some reason: what's something that would have been nice/helpful/whatever when you first got here? Maybe we'll use your idea and take credit for it!

EDIT OKAY HERE'S A LIST OF IDEAS SO FAR

-put on a play
-snacks
-balloons
-welcome baskets with first aid kits and info packets
-update crappy old welcome brochure
-recruit for other teams BECAUSE APPARENTLY THEY ARE LAZY AND CANT DO IT THEMSELVES
-board games
-throw bricks
-team building

So I guess we'll need to work something out with medics and supply teams

please someone take over doing these things I really feel like making a list is enough from me

[After spending quite a bit of time reading through the network and enjoying the sensation of having a soul, Barty Crouch jr has decided it's time to post to the network. Get it over with, so to say.]

I am back.

[Suitably dramatic? Suitably dramatic.]

Also: Thank you, Will. We should talk.

[It might come across as a veiled threat. It very probably isn't.]

Attention, Asgard:

Please exercise caution in approaching the scarab beetles that have descended upon the city. They feed upon human flesh and are capable of burrowing under the skin in pursuit of the same.

[That's not true in Asgard, of course! Here, they only give nasty bites. But Evy's not aware of that key difference--she's not about to let one near her flesh, if she can help it.]

They were very occasionally used, in fact, as a rather torturous means of execution in ancient Egypt. A swarm of scarabs will happily kill its human prey and devour the flesh over months or years. They are also capable of remaining very, very still, or so I'm told; even if a beetle appears to be dead, err on the side of leaving it alone.

I suppose I ought to apologize on my world's behalf for bringing the little beasts into the city. Believe me, we didn't much care for them at home, either.

[The screen turns on, featuring a young man looking calmly at the camera.]

Hi. It's been a while. A lot has happened.

[......]

Just a reminder. There's a lost and found at Sigyn, in a building called "Everyday Sunshine". If there's something you found that doesn't belong to you, say jewelry or boots, please drop it off there. They even accept lost bracelets, so in case you find one and there's not a guard nearby, it's an option available that should make it easier for someone who's missing. There's also other services there, so be sure to check them out.

...Also, with the city becoming militarized, everyday life is bound to get more stressful. So if you wish, please drop by Allison's Pet Store and purchase one of our pets. All our animals are very loving and make good companions. We're even training our dogs to be guardians and take part in rescue efforts. If you're interested, we're located in Freya District.

......

[Welp, better get around to it.]

One final thing...it may not be appropriate to ask this, but...could anyone be willing to share some relationship advice?

PRO TIP!
If your finding all of this war talk kind of heavy too?
It's WAY easier to handle
if you take every sentence and imagine the words "in my pants" on the end.
JSYK!

Also does anyone have a lot of knives

[A short addendum, some time after the post first goes up:]

NO NOT KNIVES IN MY PANTS FRICKIN HELL
IT'S A SEPERATE THING

[ooc: Replies will be anon (for a given value of "anon") unless otherwise stated!]

[When the feed starts, Athelstan is in his room, with one of Will's dogs stretched warmly across his lap. Athelstan rubs his fingers against her ears as he looks over the projection from his bracelet- right, recording.]

...'this is the end'. The tree has been- is being?- destroyed. I am not a commander of men, nor am I any sort of leader, but times are dire and I... [His lips press together firmly as he nudges the dog off of his lap- she makes a soft, indignant noise before skittering out of his room.]

Where I come from, the men worshiped these gods. This tree was their world, holding up everything they held dear. We must fight to keep it standing, we must- I can show you how these gods must be worshiped, I can tell stories of their exploits and wit, if that would give you cause to fight for them.

[There's a short pause, as Athelstan lets out a breath, contemplating his next words.] Even if you cannot fight, you must pray. All of your gods have guided men through their trials for hundreds of years- longer, in some of your worlds. They would not abandon us now.

[The words are encouraging, but his voice is hollow, preaching a message he's not sure if he can believe in.]

[It takes some pretty extreme circumstances to get Adachi rampagingly pissed off; the only time it had (that he knew of, at the very least), was when Yamano had pissed him off, and he gave that bitch what she deserved. Now this entire month had been an excuse to essentially piss in his bowl of rice, and there was nothing he could damn well do about it.]

[Except of course, rant where everyone could hear him. It probably wouldn't do him any good, but at least he'd feel better for a little bit.]

This place is... is just messed up!

It screws with my head for weeks, makes me forget the few people that I actually give a shit about, makes me see everything go to shit night after night, and then it's just, 'Oh well, this is how it's going to be, sucks to be you!'

Fuck that!

[He's shaking, and having trouble keeping the bracelet straight, so he pauses a moment to take it off.]

I didn't fucking ask to be dragged into this! I didn't want to forget Nanako-chan or Dojima-san or anything I fucking did back home! Now it's not supposed to fucking matter anyway, 'cause it's all gonna burn?!

[The bracelet suddenly went flying then, finally cutting out when it hits a wall.]

[No, he's not okay.]

[Alastair is pale, and he looks like he's gone through hell. For those who know him, or at least recognize him, he looks several years older than he did only a few days ago. He takes a deep breath and runs a hand through his long hair and looks directly at the camera.]

For any of you who might still be skeptical about what's at stake, you need to hear this.

[He looks away, bracing himself for what he's about to say.]

All of you need to hear this.

[He looks back at the camera again, and there's a new intensity to it, a desperation. His voice cracks slightly with the despair lurking beneath the shock he's still feeling.]

My home is gone. Destroyed. If you have ever had any doubts before, listen to me now. Your homes are in danger. I watched my world crumble and die and there was nothing I could do to stop it. It withered and died because Yggdrasil is withering and dying.

Think what you will about the gods and their methods but this war isn't for nothing. You have something to fight for, and you need to fight for it or it will be gone. Gone in death and destruction and more pain than you can possibly imagine.

[He swallows and looks away again, the pain crossing his face as he tries to compose himself.]

I know because I watched it happen.

[He takes a deep breath and looks back once more.]

If you... if you have any questions, I'm ready to answer them.

[Hey, Asgard. Have you ever had to hear a terrified feral six-year-old throwing a tantrum?

Unfortunately, you're about to.

For Lilly, forgetting Asgard memories had been disquieting-- it felt funny, and it was always confusing when they suddenly came rocketing back to her. But now she's periodically forgetting Mama and her sister, and that? Is just not acceptable.]

Mama! No! Victoria! Mama, Mama, Mama, Victoria, Mama!

MAMA!

[There's the sound of small palms slapping the ground in frustration.]

Stop now! Help! Come-- come back!

[She smacks at her bracelet display, and the feed ends there.]

[The feed's silent for a bit of time as Draco thinks things over. He appears to be in his apothecary, staring at something off-screen. A frown appears on his face before he shakes his head.]

I'm not entirely certain what's happening with everyone lately, and if that isn't disturbing enough on its own…but I do have a question someone might be able to answer since the former seems to be as vague as everything else in this city.

[With that, he holds out his left arm, bearing the Dark Mark for everybody to look at.]

What the hell is this, and whose bright idea was it to let me go through with it?

[Then, few hours later, the video continues but this time he's at home and having a staring contest with a German Shepard and a large white dog.]

Also? If anyone is looking to adopt a dog there are two in my apartment that don't belong here. Serious inquiries only.

POLL.

Of those of us freshly kidnapped, how many showed up feeling like crap? And I don't mean like emotionally-compromised crap, but like full-on sick and almost puking and shaky and pale, like the flu sick. Maybe also remembering things that didn't- might not have happened.
