[Samantha opted, when setting up the feed, to go with voice only. She still looked like hell, and she didn't need anyone seeing or asking stupid questions. It wasn't their business. But, after speaking to Conan, she'd resolved that it was time to stop trying to hide from this place any further. When she spoke, her voice had a tired quality to it, but was still strong.]

So, Asgard.

I wanted to discuss something with those of you who will still speak with me right now. These powers that we have. Most of the people I see seem to think of them as a good thing, a blessing of sorts, or at least they partially make up for the tricks you had in your homeworlds. Right.

Here's the thing I wanted to talk about. Most I've spoken to seem to think of these powers as something that's being used to help other people around here, or to protect people that can't protect themselves. How do you people handle the fact that any of them can be abused, misused or mishandled? What do people around here do to prepare themselves to be protected if those powers get used for the wrong reasons? I've been thinking a lot lately about how people could protect themselves from some of these powers, and it worries me.

Not all of us are nice people, you know.

Well, my own power is pretty hard to abuse, I think. I don't see how healing someone or yourself could be misused. As for protecting myself from the powers of other people, I have no clue. I used to get into a few fights when I was younger but I can't really do so anymore so, I really have no means of self protection.

[Wow. Way to sound kind of pathetic, Hisao. He clears his throat.]

Still, I think most people are essentially good. I haven't come across anyone here who I think would want to hurt anyone, so, that's something.

[With an obvious exception but that wasn't an all-day-every-day thing so he wouldn't count it.]

That's a risk anywhere you go, powers or none.

I'm sure you out of all of us should know that answer. [ You take them out. ]

But I guess you can take some precautions, y'know? There's not really many ways to prevent it compared to the amount there is to clean up the messes after.

[Diva is pleased to see her new friend pop up on the network again, but giving the post itself a listen, her happy smile fades to a displeased frown. What a disappointment.]

Oh, my, don't tell me this is a change of heart.

One of the best ways to avoid the misuse of power by a few is the vigilance of others.

Simple numbers makes this less of an issue than it would normally be. Those who would use their powers maliciously are in the minority, and the consequences would be great.

[Most of the reason Castiel isn't too concerned about this issue. He knows there are people here who are dangerous, and people who have harmed others, but they seem to keep it small-scale.]

Many of the powers are not of particular danger, such as mine, but though others might be difficult to counteract. However, the powers are no more or less difficult to protect oneself from than any other weapon.

[In other words, there's no reason to worry specifically because they're supernatural powers. Yes, it's smart to learn to protect themselves, but the powers are no more a threat than many other things.]

Well, pretty much anything can be misused, right? Most of them aren't things that would be any different than if you had a gun.

I don't know about misusing them but I don't want them.

I'm pretty sure everyone here is just expected to fend for themselves. Though, if I see it happen myself, I won't ignore it.

[ Actually, she's likely to kill the perpetrator, but Painwheel's smart enough to not broadcast her vigilante streak all over the network. ]

It...worries you that people may start protecting themselves or that some people can't? I think for the most part the war got enough people's attention that they've started training and - you know, learning how to fight and defend themselves. Things like that. Most people just - use their powers as they need to from what I've seen. It's not really much different from having a special skill. People are going to do whatever they want whether it's magical or not.

If powers are abused, it is the person's responsiblity to make sure they have control over it in the first place.
