[Samantha opted, when setting up the feed, to go with voice only. She still looked like hell, and she didn't need anyone seeing or asking stupid questions. It wasn't their business. But, after speaking to Conan, she'd resolved that it was time to stop trying to hide from this place any further. When she spoke, her voice had a tired quality to it, but was still strong.]

So, Asgard.

I wanted to discuss something with those of you who will still speak with me right now. These powers that we have. Most of the people I see seem to think of them as a good thing, a blessing of sorts, or at least they partially make up for the tricks you had in your homeworlds. Right.

Here's the thing I wanted to talk about. Most I've spoken to seem to think of these powers as something that's being used to help other people around here, or to protect people that can't protect themselves. How do you people handle the fact that any of them can be abused, misused or mishandled? What do people around here do to prepare themselves to be protected if those powers get used for the wrong reasons? I've been thinking a lot lately about how people could protect themselves from some of these powers, and it worries me.

Not all of us are nice people, you know.

... that's a little kind of you, Painwheel, honestly. But, how about we do ourselves a favor and just not talk about pain again. I... don't think I want to hear your stories, honestly, and you don't want to hear mine either. I'm sorry for bringing it up.

[She sighed and curled up some. She had seen the girl. It had been a stupid thing to say. There were really good odds that Painwheel had dealt with agony for years. However acute and horrific her own experiences, there was no use in comparing them.]

That's fair, I can agree to that.

[ The last thing Painwheel wanted was a misery context, anyway. She knew she wasn't the only person that has ever been abused and she really wasn't interested in sharing horror stores. If she was, she'd go to therapy for that. ]

[Therapy, god, now there was a waste of time and money, especially when you thought you could diagnose your own problems, and it was that you weren't human. She sighed.]

I don't think you're wrong. I feel the same way, but I think I'd rather figure something out if I can to help someone before it comes to that, if that makes sense.

I could help, I guess. I'm not really good at ideas though, I'm just good at making things happen.

[ She's still bitter, because no one helped her when she really needed it, but at the end of the day she didn't want someone else to suffer the way she did. ]

The idea I'm thinking about involves using the power we got. Some of the folks around here seemed to think the only real defense was a strong will, and that's the sort of thing, especially like this, that needs training. I'm thinking of offering to help people, as long as there's someone to knock me out if things get dicey.

Yeah, I could manage to knock you out if you got out of control. [ Painwheel happens to be good at violence. ] Consider me on board.

[She considered this for a minute. Did she trust Painwheel even half enough for this? At the same time, almost anyone here was probably not someone she actually trusted that much. There was maybe a handful she'd begun to trust.]

I'm looking into finding a Freya to drain me, but... I'd be willing to work with you on this. I don't think you'd hold back on me, and I don't think I could control you right now... so... yeah. I might start offering this in a day or two, for anyone who wants to come to me. I'll call you if I need backup.

Alright. I guess I'm on standby.

[ Painwheel kind of sounds like she's trying too hard to sound cool, like a teenaged girl that's watched too many spy flicks. ]

Mostly to find a date. I've got two likely candidates who want to try and test, see if this works, so it's just a matter of schedules. I'll get in touch soon enough.
