[This message is unfiltered. It's that adorable, smug, irritating face that pretty much everybody in Asgard wants to punch. He hasn't been on the network in a while, but he's also been overworked helping to keep things nice and stable and the magic going properly, and some of his antics have been a little draining.

But he's back, from outer space... or whatever. Aren't you all lucky?

Behind him is a spear of jagged, ugly, blackish ice that people in the north of town have likely seen several times before. The remnants of Thiazi's backlash some time ago remain, despite efforts and study. Finally, folding his arms, he turned towards the feed and spoke. For once? He didn't sound too arrogant.]

Alright, so I know a few of you've been talking about ideas on how to clean the porch up. I think we've done enough window dressing for my tastes. It's high time we dealt with this thing. I'm all for your brilliant ideas. This is exactly what the engineers are supposed to do anyway.

And don't be shy. Just because you're not in my glorious band of misfit idiots doesn't mean you can't help. It's not like anybody wants this health hazard to stick around. So pipe up. I know some of you have been coming up with ideas, but it's time to actually get started, wouldn't you say?

(OOC: Threadjacking is invited in this thread. This is a chance for Engineers to plot/plan and non-engineers to add their own muscle. Several players have voiced interest in bringing down this ice flow and rebuilding the wall/Gate of Fire. I know at least 2-3 who've made attempts. You're all invited. Baldr's just being his usual dick self and kicking things in gear. Ultimately, it's player plots that will bring it down. I'll check with the mods on the 'how')

Far as I can tell, a few Odins have been throwing fires at it. Folks have tried homemade fire-starters. Traditional methods. That's about the size of it so far, but there's been talk about trying to organize.

Just seems we always lose the backers in the process.

Going to need more than just fire. Lots of fire without burning the city down's something, but it's magic ice.

Ice usually melts after a day or two after all. It's been summer here after all. But you're thinking. I like that.

... I dunno if anybody's tried it, but would growing something through it weaken it, maybe? Probably wouldn't work all alone, but it could be worth a shot.

Actually, I was intending on forming a group to investigate and more importantly, remove the black ice. There are others who are willing to help me do it too. And now apparently... more.

Protection's my racket. Shielding, defense, purification. There's something wrong with this ice. I don't know any other way to put it. I'm not going to get too far into details, because it's all guesswork, but I've never seen something like this.

That should tell you something there.

Nobody's tested it recently, but it's stronger than natural ice and it doesn't melt naturally. Even if it's weakened, don't touch it unless you can't help it. The frostbite needs magic to cure and sets in immediately.

I think my shadow control might be able to help more than my healing with this at least. I'm just not sure how. I mean, trying to create a shadow inside of it to push out and break it probably wouldn't quite work.....? Maybe a combination of the powers working together at it though. Or at the very least I could help with basic first aid if anyone gets hurt trying anything.

That's a lot like what one of the others is saying with the plants. Your shadows are also less likely to freeze inside there, so there's that too. You might also be able to help hit this fuse a couple are talking about if they try to blow it sky-high.

[And it kinda took dying to remove that taint.]

I'm not certain what could remove that, aside from fire--mayhaps those from Odin could test their abilities against it. [A breath, then, somewhat wryly:] Then again, it is summer, and it hasn't melted yet.

Good, at least a few of you remember that. The thing is that that's not her normal magic. It's corrupted somehow, I think. I honestly haven't watched her that much [He's just a kid at a thousand years. Cut him some slack.]. So it's hers, but it's not.

Keeping control over it, though, isn't likely. It may have weakened so that combining your powers and using those fleshy things on top of your shoulders should make some headway.

Whatever we try, there should be healers near. And a few who can see thoughts as well, since from what I've heard, that ice has been connected with Thiazi's mind control in the past.

Sounds like a good idea. Especially since we're not sure how secure our operations are and what possible leaks exist.

Far as I've noticed just touching this stuff damages you. gloves and protective wear would also help.

Let's think in an entirely different direction. What was the exact process used to clean those souls corrupted by the power that is Thiazi's and not? Could something similar be applied to this corrupted magic?

Right now ice doesn't do shit to it. Chipping at it doesn't work. It seems like physical actions aren't going to be the way the day is won unless we can possibly change its properties somehow.

I can't answer any of those questions, but I agree. While I can understand the appeal, I'd personally be more comfortable if blowing this thing to hell were left as a last resort.

It's stronger than normal ice, but not as strong as true steel. However, it creates frostbite at a touch that doesn't heal normally, so people need to be careful.

A little bit of careful re-testing might be a good idea. One of you lot reminded me that the magic might have worn down, however strong it is. But normally? no, it wouldn't melt just with a torch. If that was the case, it'd be gone long ago.

I've heard touching the ice directly is harmful, and I'm also guessing that many have tried to melt it already. Has anyone suggested fighting the ice with ice itself?

It's been suggested, and I'm not opposed to the idea, just to see if it gets anywhere, but don't use much. No point adding to the mess if it fails, right?
