Video - Because You Love His Smiling Face (Threadjacking welcome)

[This message is unfiltered. It's that adorable, smug, irritating face that pretty much everybody in Asgard wants to punch. He hasn't been on the network in a while, but he's also been overworked helping to keep things nice and stable and the magic going properly, and some of his antics have been a little draining.

But he's back, from outer space... or whatever. Aren't you all lucky?

Behind him is a spear of jagged, ugly, blackish ice that people in the north of town have likely seen several times before. The remnants of Thiazi's backlash some time ago remain, despite efforts and study. Finally, folding his arms, he turned towards the feed and spoke. For once? He didn't sound too arrogant.]

Alright, so I know a few of you've been talking about ideas on how to clean the porch up. I think we've done enough window dressing for my tastes. It's high time we dealt with this thing. I'm all for your brilliant ideas. This is exactly what the engineers are supposed to do anyway.

And don't be shy. Just because you're not in my glorious band of misfit idiots doesn't mean you can't help. It's not like anybody wants this health hazard to stick around. So pipe up. I know some of you have been coming up with ideas, but it's time to actually get started, wouldn't you say?

(OOC: Threadjacking is invited in this thread. This is a chance for Engineers to plot/plan and non-engineers to add their own muscle. Several players have voiced interest in bringing down this ice flow and rebuilding the wall/Gate of Fire. I know at least 2-3 who've made attempts. You're all invited. Baldr's just being his usual dick self and kicking things in gear. Ultimately, it's player plots that will bring it down. I'll check with the mods on the 'how')

... woah. You're right.

I bet I could use roots to push other stuff up through there, so long as it's small. Salt, or-

Gunpowder?
bonnypiperlad: (aye)

[personal profile] bonnypiperlad 2014-09-02 05:13 am (UTC)(link)
Gunpowder? Aye, if there's enough of it around that we could come up with some, that just might work.

[Assuming they could get it hot enough quickly enough, that is.]

It'll not help with that shrapnel problem ye mentioned but if there'll be precautions anyway it'd be worth a try. We've just got to make sure we've got some way of getting rid of it before it starts putting itself back together again.

Worth a shot.

... wait, shit, you're telling me the ice regrows?
bonnypiperlad: (solemn)

[personal profile] bonnypiperlad 2014-09-02 05:35 am (UTC)(link)
People've tried to break through it before and it's not done any good. Even if ye manage to get a piece broken off, it doesn't make it any smaller, and if ye look at it later on it's like the piece wasn't even gone in the first place.

So I'd say it's quite possible it could.

I haven't been messing around with it until now. Y'know, weird magical ice in the middle of summer, doesn't sound like a good idea no matter how you look at it.

That's gonna take a lot more power than I thought. If it regenerates... that's a big deal. I don't know if we have enough power to keep doing the same thing over and over. Not with how big this thing is.

We're going to need a hell of a reaction, all at once.
bonnypiperlad: (hmm)

[personal profile] bonnypiperlad 2014-09-02 05:51 am (UTC)(link)
Well...I don't know if anyone's tried recently. Maybe something's changed. If it's still the same, though, I think you're right.

Could always test it first, I suppose, and see if it's still reacting the same way. Wish I'd gotten the other power from my house. I'd have a go at it for ye first so we'd know for sure if that was the case, but I don't think running at it's going to do any good.
tonsofpun: (Welllp)

[personal profile] tonsofpun 2014-09-02 05:54 am (UTC)(link)
-so you've got speed? That could be seriously useful, actually... I mean, if you can carry someone, say we get a fire user in there to light it all up, and you're there to get them the hell out before it blows?
madcuriosity: (How peculiar!)

[personal profile] madcuriosity 2014-09-02 06:02 am (UTC)(link)
What if the ah... reaction was the same concoctions used for fireworks? Aren't those incredibly powerful?
tonsofpun: (Found a stabby thing)

[personal profile] tonsofpun 2014-09-02 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not exactly an expert in that area. What's that mean?
madcuriosity: (Oh what is this?)

[personal profile] madcuriosity 2014-09-02 06:15 am (UTC)(link)
You said it would have to be very powerful for it to go away. Well, think of fireworks in the sky and just how big and loud those are. If we put one inside the black ice, and let it go off, wouldn't that be incredibly powerful?
tonsofpun: (↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A Start)

[personal profile] tonsofpun 2014-09-02 06:19 am (UTC)(link)
... y'know, maybe if we set off a whole lot of them-

Yeah, it might!
madcuriosity: (Oh how curious!)

[personal profile] madcuriosity 2014-09-02 06:41 am (UTC)(link)
And if we put them on the surface too, as well as inside, then it's far less likely to have the ability to regenerate before being destroyed.
tonsofpun: (I've never been outside)

[personal profile] tonsofpun 2014-09-02 07:06 am (UTC)(link)
Is there any way to set them off from a distance?
madcuriosity: (How peculiar!)

[personal profile] madcuriosity 2014-09-02 07:26 am (UTC)(link)
Very long fuses?
tonsofpun: (Mistrust)

[personal profile] tonsofpun 2014-09-03 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
Anybody here know how to rig up something like that?
tonsofpun: (Could be okay)

[personal profile] tonsofpun 2014-09-04 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
Eleven? Or a different one?

Think I might be one of the only ones left that does.

[Not counting any of the gods, that is. But she's brought up an interesting point, one that has him furrowing his brows as he considers it.]

If someone's small enough and light enough, I might be able to. I have done that a time or two. But I've never tried carrying someone and going as fast as I can go before. I'm not so sure what'll happen if I do, and if it's big enough of an explosion, I might have to to have any chance of getting out of there at all.
tonsofpun: (Welllp)

[personal profile] tonsofpun 2014-09-02 06:20 am (UTC)(link)
Good point.

I mean, that thing is ugly, but it's not worth getting killed over, exactly.

Man, this is harder than I thought. Any ideas?
bonnypiperlad: (considering)

[personal profile] bonnypiperlad 2014-09-02 06:37 am (UTC)(link)
Does it have to be something that's done close up? If we can come up with the explosives, can't we come up with some sort of thing you'd use to set off dynamite?

Although that'd still not solve the problem of getting a fire user close enough. Hm. Maybe if they had some sort of protective shielding or something, but it'd need to be a powerful shield, I'd say.
tonsofpun: (Put down the idiot ball for one second)

[personal profile] tonsofpun 2014-09-03 05:25 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, a fuse-

Y'know, if we could get a clear enough shot and enough archers that'd be a hell of an idea. Fire arrows.
bonnypiperlad: (considering2)

[personal profile] bonnypiperlad 2014-09-03 07:33 am (UTC)(link)
Could even do both, I'd reckon. A long enough fuse to set off things inside, and then fire arrows on the outside to add a little extra insurance.
tonsofpun: (Babygirl)

[personal profile] tonsofpun 2014-09-04 05:19 am (UTC)(link)
So we grow, then dig, add fireworks and a long fuse, then grow things all through it while coating it with ice powers-

Then we blow the hell out of the fireworks underneath and shoot flaming arrows at it.

This might actually work.
bonnypiperlad: (So...)

[personal profile] bonnypiperlad 2014-09-05 06:38 am (UTC)(link)
Worth trying, anyway.

Plus anything else we can think of between now and whenever it is we're set to do this. I'm thinking anything we can throw at it might not be a bad idea with this stuff.
