[This message is unfiltered. It's that adorable, smug, irritating face that pretty much everybody in Asgard wants to punch. He hasn't been on the network in a while, but he's also been overworked helping to keep things nice and stable and the magic going properly, and some of his antics have been a little draining.

But he's back, from outer space... or whatever. Aren't you all lucky?

Behind him is a spear of jagged, ugly, blackish ice that people in the north of town have likely seen several times before. The remnants of Thiazi's backlash some time ago remain, despite efforts and study. Finally, folding his arms, he turned towards the feed and spoke. For once? He didn't sound too arrogant.]

Alright, so I know a few of you've been talking about ideas on how to clean the porch up. I think we've done enough window dressing for my tastes. It's high time we dealt with this thing. I'm all for your brilliant ideas. This is exactly what the engineers are supposed to do anyway.

And don't be shy. Just because you're not in my glorious band of misfit idiots doesn't mean you can't help. It's not like anybody wants this health hazard to stick around. So pipe up. I know some of you have been coming up with ideas, but it's time to actually get started, wouldn't you say?

(OOC: Threadjacking is invited in this thread. This is a chance for Engineers to plot/plan and non-engineers to add their own muscle. Several players have voiced interest in bringing down this ice flow and rebuilding the wall/Gate of Fire. I know at least 2-3 who've made attempts. You're all invited. Baldr's just being his usual dick self and kicking things in gear. Ultimately, it's player plots that will bring it down. I'll check with the mods on the 'how')

Shrapnel's likely, too, depending on what people try. [Yeah, Roland's expecting one or two explosions.] Once we know better what's going to be used on it it'll be easier to take a few precautions.

You're right to be careful of sabotage, too. This'd be a very good opportunity.

The idea of using shadows or plants to build shields has been brought up. Cutting down on shrapnel's a good call, with what this causes. Hopefully we won't have to worry about the rest.

I'll hope the same, but I'd prepare while I'm hoping. Unfortunately, I think all that can be done is tell people to watch their equipment - and each other - carefully. Shields of ice have been suggested, too, and it seems like those would work the best. So long as we test how effective the shields'll be before we use them that shouldn't be too difficult to set up.

Don't know how effective you'll be at testing them for giant exploding ice messes, but worth it to be prepared. Any old shield that blocks things should do the trick. You just want to keep it from actually getting on you.

I know it causes frostbite, but how strong is it? As solid as normal ice, or moreso?

Stronger than normal ice, but not like stone or steel. People don't chip at it for long because of the frostbite that lingers.

Thankee-sai Baldr, that's useful to know. Once we all decide on a time I'll be there.

My guess is that we're talking in a bout a week to two weeks... so that you guys can test on your own time leading up.

(OOC: Currently talking with the mods. Expectations are that this will either straddle the start of the Salt Side event just before and after so that eveyrone has a chance to participate that wants to, or at the very end of this month/start of next.)

I can set up protective barriers people can slip behind with the right tools and a bit of ice magic. It's not as good as metal but close enough.

Better than metal, maybe - this way no one will have to choose between seeing what's happening and being safe. [Because of course there are people who would do the former no matter how dangerous it got.] I'm sure the engineers'll have whatever tools you need, but how many people know how to do it? If you could teach one other the process might go more quickly.

Being one of those engineers I can pass on my skills to the others, if they don't already have their own versions. Anyone else who wants to learn can get schooled in crafting too.

I have tools but, like I said. Some I don't have. Some I want but this realm doesn't allow them. You know how it is.

I might be calling on your energy lending. There's a lot of this stuff to deal with and th safety crew will probably only have so much juice before we need a recharge. I know a life drawer, he's my brother.

Roland. Well-met, Dirk. On my own I don't know how much I can give - maybe only a little to everyone, depending on how many show up - but I'll help where I can. I should probably bring a couple potions from my shop, too. We'll see what's needed when the day comes. Anyone decided when that's going to be yet?

Nice to meet you, Roland, circumstances aside. I could give you a bit of a guess how much you can give if I knew your level of ability.

So far as I know there's no way to tell that without using it, and there hasn't been much need to even in all my time here. The only way to really know may be simply to go and do it. Even if that isn't much, I'm sure there'll be something else there that needs to be done.

We could always test it beforehand. Better to know what one can do rather than need more than you guessed you did. Of course, it's up to you what you want to do.

I can tell well enough what I'm giving as I do it. I won't give so much I can't walk away afterward. But if you do get your brother to draw whatever tools you need and he needs some help, call on me.

I have some experience with such people. [Mostly experience in trying to ignore them. Annoying as Roland finds that sort of thing, though, he says it fondly.] And if my help brings us all - even if a very little - closer to our goal, I'll be glad to give it.
