I am Daenerys Stormborn, of House Targaryen. I traveled with many of you to the front at Alfheim, though this world remembers my face from a time now lost to me. If we once had dealings in the past I would speak with you of them.

[ Better than bumping into each and every person one at a time, as she's been doing for over a week now. A beat, and she continues. ]

Among you are men and women that claim the Seven Kingdoms their home, to whom my family name and titles are more familiar. Whether you hail from Westeros or the Free Cities and beyond - I make only two simple requests. [ Many of them have already come forward, but there is at least one false name that doesn't match up and one Kingslayer that hasn't shown his face. ] To friends, I ask that you tell me of your time in Asgard. [ Her back and shoulders remain straight, her gaze hardening just a fraction. ] To all others, [ oathbreakers and pretenders alike ] convince me that our cause in this world is truly a common one.

[ And that no blood needs to be spilled on these foreign streets. Their feuds can resume back home where they can be settled and not forgotten.

[He'd make a very bad enemy. Really easily caught and killed, and he wouldn't even fight back. At least, not very successfully.]

It's been kinda quiet lately so yeah, I've been the King of Rest and Relaxation. How about you?

[exiling]

Equally so, your grace. [ Ha ha. Someone may as well take the title. ] I only hope that this quiet lasts a bit longer.

[ And just because she said that the roof should fall down any moment. ]

[He laughs at her joke and nods.]

A break would be nice, but you know how war is. Or...maybe you don't?

[She seems awfully young to know.]

[ She doesn't feel too young these days. ] I have seen enough of it, and will see more when I am returned home.

[stilledsurgeon]

You? What in the heck is a kid like yourself fighting a war for?

[exiling]

I wage war but I am no warrior, Hawkeye. I command armies, so it is those soldiers that give blood for me and my cause. Their lives are my concern.

[stilledsurgeon]

So...you're more of a general, then?

Well, good to know you care about the lives of the people fighting for you. Most generals don't.

[exiling]

Generals look to me. [ Spoken softer than she would like. ] Do kings and queens hold power in your realm?

[stilledsurgeon]

Oooh, a queen! Sorry, I didn't know. You didn't tell me to bow and scrape.

[He's teasing, really.]

Well...yeah, in some countries. Then some countries have dictators, which I suppose have the same sort of power as kings and queens. Most places nowadays are run by elected officials. Not that it does much good when we elect them and they ignore us the rest of the time.

Well, now when we meet next I will expect it. [ Widens her eyes, back to playful in an instant. ]

You don't sound fond of your leaders. Was your vote for them?

[stilledsurgeon]

I'll remember to stock up on kneepads.

That's the funny thing about elected leaders. You like them until they get into office, then you don't like them so much when they send you off to war for no good reason.

[exiling]

So in this a man may present himself however he wishes, only then change his mind once the power is his - beholden to no one once all is said and done.

For what reason, if not a good one, do these leaders send you to battle?

[stilledsurgeon]

Well, I suppose it beats a man getting power by killing more people than the other guy, or just being born. Still, leave it to the human race to be able to screw up even the noblest ideals.

I wouldn't say he's beholden to no one. If he screws up too badly, he might get impeached, or just lose the vote to someone else the next election.

[He shrugs and tries to look nonchalant about it all.]

Because the guys on the other side have a different style of politics than we do, and our leaders want to keep them from spreading. The "Red Menace", it's called in the propaganda. Frankly, I don't think it's something worth killing people for.

[exiling]

[ Frowns at the first part. ] Lives were lost in the conquest that won those ancestors our throne, that much is true, but my family ruled justly for nearly three hundred years.

[ She speaks with certainty. A family name means a lot, as does the stability that hers brought to Westeros.

Right? ]

They see a threat, you don't. When will you begin to seek votes for a seat? [ Wry smile. ]

Good! That's kind of the exception to the rule, though, isn't it?

[He laughs and shakes his head.]

Oh, no, I'm far too lazy to run for office. Nothing would ever get done.
