video ][ day 309
[ ahahaha okay, so, Lily's a Muggleborn, right. which means she should probably be alright at handling Muggle technology? only she's from the 70s, and they sure as hell didn't have holographic video screens popping up out of bracelets back then, so even after she watches Loki's ..special guide, she's still left looking a little bewildered. still, she figured out how to play the videos on the main screen, and how to post her own, only she has.. no clue where to go from there. so. ]
Hullo!
[ she sounds cheerful, confused, and damn proud of herself for figuring out how to get this to broadcast. WELL DONE, ME. now, time to kick up some of that bravery in the face of the unknown and get on with it. ]
My name is Lily, and I suppose that, in light of why we've all been brought here, I just wanted to introduce myself straight off. [ yeah she has no idea some people have already been here for a while, oops ] Er, only, just curious - is there some sort of telephone directory I could take a look at? It's entirely possible I've arrived here on my own, but I was- [ apparating ] -going somewhere with someone, before I got here, so I was rather hoping he found his way here too. If so, I'd like to get in touch with him, or with anyone I might already know, and this seems to be the easiest way, only I don't.. completely know how to use this bracelet properly yet. So. Right. I'm sure you see my predicament. [ she's really really really hoping that her husband is here too :c and she's a little nervous he might not be, that nobody she knows from home is and she's been taken here without being able to say goodbye first, hence the rambling ] Either way, I'm still getting settled in, so to speak, but I'll do my best to help out, where I can. [ EVEN WITHOUT HER MAGIC, SOB. ] Luckily- [ Lily stop this really is as corny as you think it will sound ] - I'm all about breaking the ice with new mates, so I'm sure that won't be too difficult.
[ get it, cause Loki's guide said that talking to people and making friends makes your God-given abilities stro-- okay nevermind there's no saving that cornball moment at all ]
Right! Ta, then. And thank you for any help with the technology in advance.

video;
So sorry, I'm just- I'm staring, I know it, but. [ wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow ] Yes, yes you really ought to meet me. Come 'round Freya house? I'd offer to meet you somewhere but even with this map I'm still a little behind on things.
video to action.
So—I'll see you soon.
[Harry flashes her a brief smile before the transmission ends and he heads out.
This is different from the last time he saw his parents. He's less shellshocked about it, anyway, and he knows to be careful. Having most of his only experience speaking to his parents being when he can be less careful made it difficult, but he's had a couple weeks to regroup and imagine how to do it better. He wants them to be happy, and the last thing he wants is for either of them to fight another war in another land.
Yet at the same time, Harry is selfish. He knows it's wrong, but he really does like having the opportunity to know them. And he really does want to impress them.
It's for that reason that he makes some level of effort this time to make his hair not look as bad as it could—Asgard, being devoid of whatever magic he had, didn't fix his hair completely, but it also wasn't as resistant when he tried these things (he had only once before, out of curiosity)—and changed his clothes to something tidier. He has a feeling his mother will notice that he bothered to do that, but this is less random and all, so he can't help himself.
The sprucing up doesn't take long, though, seeing as he's not much good at it, and he sets out soon enough for Freya. When he ends up there, he lingers around outside looking for his mum, assuming he'll spot her soon enough.]

so when she spots him headed towards the building from her view at the window, she sort of bounces on the balls of her feet, a rush of energy hitting her all at once, and she quickly shoves it all down away, neat and carefully in check now thank you, before stepping outside and giving him a wave. a decidedly excited wave, one that calms down once she realizes how mad she must look.
Godric, Potter. calm down. calm down right now. this first impression means everything, doesn't it? although, as far as she knows, it's not exactly the first time he's meeting her. so. well! whatever. she still wants to seem cool, even as her excitement bounces around her in belly. ]
'Lo, Harry.
[ she knows he's heading towards her already, but that doesn't stop her from meeting him halfway, and she absolutely moves to hug him pretty much almost immediately, but- wait. okay, wait. a tiny moment of hesitation because maybe he doesn't want a hug. maybe she should ask first.
nope, just going to pull him in for a hug. because she's sure if there's one way to tell if something is real, if this whole situation is really real, hugs will prove it so. ]

It's not that he has never known a mother's hug and comfort. Being close with Ron, his mother was always keen to throw comfort and respect in Harry's direction because of the unfortunate upbringing he had with the Dursleys. As such, it wasn't unfamiliar, and while he loved Molly Weasley quite a bit, it was never the same. Harry wasn't selfish enough to think that, of course, but the thought did spring to mind when his own mother's arms were around him. It wasn't even ungrateful, so much as ... surreal that he now had a point of comparison.
Harry knows it isn't wise, but he throws his arms around her and clings for a moment. This is the mother whose love protected him for so long that Voldemort had to build a spell to try and decimate some of its strength. And even then, he hadn't been completely successful. There were flaws in the plan. The fact that she is so eager to hug him without any hesitation tells him that all his thoughts about her were—are—true.
He isn't even thinking enough to try and formulate some kind of excuse. This is his mum. His mum. In the flesh. Not dead, or a voice from beyond, or anything like that. She's real.]

I can't quite get over your face, darling, I'm sorry- I promise I'll stop this in a few minutes, just a little while. Though I must admit, I'm a little jealous you look more like James than me, even though our eyes really do match, wow. He's going to lose his mind when he sees you. In a good way, I promise. [ despite the apology, she doesn't sound sorry, she sounds... completely smitten, in a way. the surrealness of the situation hasn't worn off yet. ] It must be so odd seeing me like this. This young, I mean, same as you. About the same, at least? I'm eighteen years old. Please tell me you're not older. [ there's another laugh, and then she's shaking her head ] It's not even important, it's not. As long as it's not too wonky for you.
[ deep breaths, Lily. rambling his face off isn't the best way to go about this. so she takes a second to sober herself, looking him over again, though she can't help the way she reaches up towards his hair, a quick bubble of a laugh forming because- ] I am so sorry you ended up with your father's mop. You wear it well, of course, but it's as if it's got a mind of its own sometimes, right?
[ and that's when she notices it, vaguely, at least. his scar. her eyes make that tell-tale dip from his hair to his forehead, and even though she catches herself quickly, there was still a pause, curious. it's not a birthmark, it's too distinct- but. hm. no, she will not be asking her son if he managed to get into a flying accident or something, you don't ask hey, where'd you get that scar? the first time you meet someone, but now she's curious. a little bit. she's feeling protective already! oh boy. ]

Just the same, he avoids the typical action he takes whenever someone looks at his scar and leaves it. He doesn't raise his hand to self-consciously move his hair, because he fears that will give something away. But his hands do nervously play with the bottom of his shirt just briefly, just to do something while he keeps himself from acting.
He blinks after a moment and shrugs somewhat awkwardly.]
I'm used to it. It's better here, somehow. Growing up, every time I got a haircut, it grew right back.
[Come to think of it, he's not certain if it would be the same if he hadn't grown up with the Dursleys. Harry hadn't ever given his hair much thought beyond "I look like my father." Well, truthfully, he had. When he was younger and knew that he stood out as "strange," it was almost unavoidable to think about. But everything seemed to fall into place with Hagrid's arrival, and some things he never looked back on properly.]
It drove you mad. Still does, I think. But yeah, you're older than me still, just by a little bit. I was just a month off from my birthday. Oh, that's July thirty first, but we can't really tell when that is here.
no subject
There's no date here? I suppose that makes sense. [ grin! ] We'll just have to celebrate your birthday.. whenever it's been about a month since you arrived here. --We haven't missed it, have we?
no subject
There is a date, but nothing like what we're familiar with. And you haven't, not yet. It might need to be closer to two months. Maybe somewhere around a month and a half. Er, not that you have to.
[But Harry has always liked having good things happen for his birthday. He won't deny it.]

[ a beat, then her cheeks kind of turn pink and she gets a sort of oh uh um expression on her face ]
I'm being too forward, aren't I? Clingy? I'm usually much more graceful at handling surprises. Especially welcome ones! You're a completely welcome surprise, mind. Just- [ breathes ] -family means everything to me. Which I'm sure you know all too well by now, but.. Right now, in my life, where I am, I don't really let myself think about how badly I'd like to start a family. I haven't because I know how much James wants to, and there's some part of me that would give anything to just be able to ignore the world and do it, but there's so much going on that it wouldn't be right to, not right away at least. But here you are! You're proof that things will be okay, that we'll have that, all of us. [ aaaanother pause, for a breath ] That's a lot to process, actually.
no subject
He clenches his jaw as he tries to keep himself together, just finally managing a head-down nod.]
Yes ...
[The word comes out soft.]
Sorry that it's a lot. ... Maybe I should have waited.
no subject
Nothing to be sorry for, Harry. I'm glad you told me right away. Honestly. I think I'd be rather cross if I found out sometime later on that you were here this whole time and I wasn't getting to spend time with you.
[ hm! ]
The real question is - what shall we do now?
[ like there's some fun to be had here, she's just waiting to hear about it ]
no subject
[He doesn't know how good of an idea it is to bring him to Jade's restaurant, so it's likely he'll hit the sandwich shop Hermione took them to on that first day.]
And you can tell me what your life is like right now. Mum—you—I never heard much about it.
[For obvious reasons, but he doesn't add that. It's technically not a lie.]
