Citizens of Asgard. I come bearing only grave news this day. What I believe to be a spy, lurking in our very midst.

[ The camera pans over to a bound and gagged individual that some may in fact recognize from the tail end of the Utgard excursion. ]

He has aroused the suspicions of many with his peculiar behavior. The natives themselves have been able to confirm he is not one of them, as he has tried claiming.

Presently, he can be found in the custody of myself and Sir Gwaine. I wish to seek the council of everyone before we reach the city proper as it is a matter which undeniably concerns the safety of us all.

But as for myself, I would vote for execution to follow his questioning. I have seen firsthand what may happen with prisoners during war. They conspire to escape and wreak further havoc, squandering mercy and endangering good men.

I know. The Doctor is blinded by guilt and righteousness, most of the others are simply squeamish. Or they don't really understand the stakes.

[she shudders at the word wiping, enough that she almost misses his. but not quite, and she squeezes his hand hard]

There are reasons. This isn't one. Even the gods are against it.

Thiazi will kill him if we don't. Minions are expendable and she'll be angry.

No one here understands war. We need fucking guidance.

[Connor almost never swears past shit, and his arm tenses again. The gods threw them in blind; soldiers can't fight with blindfolds on.]

[she doesn't actually jump, but he can probably feel something in her snap to attention. connor swears about as much as she does, which is to say barely at all]

We do. But I've no idea how to go about getting it. Odin is not exactly...forthcoming. I know Hel will come if you leave her offerings and call, but she is not particularly sympathetic.

I think we've got leaders here, it's not impossible... they need a direction. They need to know more.

When we get back, make me something to take to Hel?

We do. Arthur is actually very good at what he does, when he can do it.

Arthur would be my choice. I think most people's.

[connor nods, eyes glinting in the dim light] She doesn't scare me.

He did well by us the last time. As well as could be done, anyway.

I thought she might not. Compared to some things, she's not that frightening. Still, from what I saw of her the once, she's less than patient.

[he wasn't really around for that, but he believes it. the problem is working with what you have and what you know. and arthur would have a whole bunch of clueless, untrained, sentimental travelers and no real knowledge of the enemy.

can't expect much from that.

connor scrubs his face and leans back with a sigh.]

[that was a great deal of the problem last time and it will be again, as far as she's concerned. they'll lose for their naiveté as much as for their lack of experience. but it's hard to convince anyone of anything here.

she pushes her hair back and leans, her mouth pressed to his shoulder so that the tip of her nose rests against the curve of it. there aren't any easy answers.]
