[Something happened in that moment. Aradia's comments and how everyone had been dancing around the subject so very carefully all clicked. Now, Equius was a brilliant troll in his own way, but had the social comprehension of a rock. However, even he could eventually notice something right there in front of his face.

And just like that, he snapped a little, his teeth bared.]

[She looks down, a horrible confused mess of angry and downright miserable. She hadn't meant to tell him, not like this, not after how it had hurt her to know he was dead. But she couldn't not confront him on what he'd allowed to happen to himself.]

I kept thinking you'd do something, I tried to do as you asked me and stayed hidden and waited for you to confront him! But I waited too long and then you were dead and I couldn't think. I was so unhappy, so angry!

[He paused and his fingers clenched and finally, he closed his eyes and breathed in and out once. He needed a minute. No, he needed days. No, he needed months to process this. He wasn't designed to handle this. It was the Highblood's privilege, but she was his moirail.

She sinks down onto the ground, sitting there in a small, miserable ball. She doesn't want to be frivolous. She doesn't want to pretend things are okay and everything is normal. It's not.]

[He was having almost a painful time saying what he was about to say, so it would take him a minute. Finally, he got it out, but it wasn't easy.]

[That gets her to finally look up at him, her face tear-stained but...hopeful, somehow. She knows how much it must have cost him to say that, and she knows it shows the depth of how he feels about her for him to be admitting it at all now.

She stretches out to wrap her arms around his neck, barnacling herself to him.]

[He reached over and tried to pat her on the head again. It was an awkward, unfamiliar gesture.]

[She makes a soft, tiny noise that could almost be a purr when he pats her head, nuzzling into his hand.]

[Nepeta manages to hold back a snort at that - she knows what Equius considers to be art! - but the last thing she wants to do just now is hurt her moirail's feelings.]

[He shrugged and tapped one of the walls before catching onto her intent and sighing, shaking his head and allowing her to ride. After all, she had just had a hard time of it. He could dote, right?]

These gods are territorial. They do not like us in other houses, and you will feel it when you visit. A few hours are fine though.

I believe there is paid housing if we find work. We could establish a commune for some of our fellows, at least the ones who are not severely derelict in some fashion such as the sea dweller.

I could work! It would be fun if a bunch of us could all live together! ...the ones who are less likely to fight, though. There was enough of that back home.

It would be preferable not to have those who would enter some sort of strife in the same house. we can handle such conflict in other places after all. It is our nature to wage war, but perhaps not at our homes.

I have also considered opening up shop or getting employment as a mechanic. This city is so deplorably poor in technology though.

[She opens the door and bounces in, much cheered up from before. Her bed has already been unmade, the mattress on the floor and the blankets and pillows piled onto it in a sort of pillow pile fortress.]

That's an even better reason to open a shop like that! You could make lots of impurrovements for them!
