Seven ★ Video

[It's assumed that Draco is around somewhere despite not being on camera immediately, judging by the fact that when the feed starts travelers are greeted with a nice view of a bedroom wall absolutely covered in diagrams, charts, graphs, drawings and notes. Literally every square inch of the wall above the bed is covered in paper marked with random colored pens. It's assumed the rest of the room is set the same way. In the background, anyone listening can hear a coffee maker brewing a new pot.

War's never been one of Draco's favorite things, but the battles in Asgard have made him think of his home world and the situation he's in. He hates thinking about it, but he's started dissecting everything he knows…hence some of the charts that are overlaying some older charts. When Draco begins to speak, he's still out of the line of vision, if only because he can't exactly face the city just yet.]

…I know this man at home who's trying to, more or less, recreate the entire world. A perfect world where everyone's exactly the same and everyone who's considered less than worthy is punished severely if they're not outright killed immediately. [This is bad. This is a bad idea to be bringing this up, but Draco's full of bad ideas and bad decisions lately.] Actually, his favorite method is to torture them severely before sparing them and then murdering them with a flick of the wrist.

But the thing is, despite the fact he's more or less a slit-nosed homicidal freak, he has a large following. Many follow him out of fear, but there are just as many who follow out of loyalty. There are many people who actually, genuinely believe our world will be better if we follow his plan for destruction and reconstruction. It's messy and violent, and yet they go along with it anyway. Funny how that works, isn't it? One has to wonder why. [It's probably for the best that Voldemort's not around to hear that one of his servants is basically disregarding everything he's been taught. But after his last conversation with Jade? Maybe he really doesn't have to be constantly fearing for his life...maybe just every other day.

Let's get to the point, shall we? His hand appears in the frame of video and he's pinning a fresh piece of paper to the wall above the bed. He soon takes out a pen and in a neat, elegant scrawl writes something on the top of the page.

The art of persuasion and manipulation

His hand hovers in midair for a moment before he withdraws it.]

What is the fine line between persuading people and manipulating them? And, as a bonus question, what is the fine line between safety and fear? Sometimes I have to wonder if the rulers of this world aren't any different, what with having to do their bidding without even asking us. And yet we do it anyway because we're told it's better this way. [He knows it's a stretch, but it's still a valid point in his opinion.] As you can see, I've plenty of room on the paper so give me something worth writing.

[Goddamnit why ham? He grudgingly eats half of everything all while playing with his food, but he's consistently working and tending to messages on the bracelet feed as he does so. That paper on the wall's getting pretty filled up.]

...the worlds are so completely messed up. That's the conclusion I've come to.

[ Jade will end up crosslegged on his bed, still slowly munching on her browning slices of apple. She's only half paying attention to him, expression distant, focusing on a tiny seed in her hand. She's coaxing it to grow slowly, stretch out, and has just really got it wrapped around her hand and blooming when Draco addresses her. ]

"The worlds are fucked, news at eleven." Are you really just now figuring that out?

[ It's said with a wry smile, at least. ]

[An eyeroll.] I meant more in the sense that a good handful of the worlds out there have their own Vol--Dark Lord type. People willing to destroy to recreate, etcetera, etcetera.

We had Jack. He just wanted to destroy.. I'm not sure how interested he was in recreating. He killed John's dad and Dave's bro and Rose's mom.. it really sucked.

[ She cuts her eyes up to him. ]

Are you still hungry? I'm still hungry.

I'm not, but if you're hungry grab something else. I think there's a bag of crisps around here somewhere.

...Jack? Who's Jack, exactly?

Do you know where?

[ She's on her feet, then, poking around his room- try to be as not-nosy as possible as she searches for the chips. ]

- and, ummm, he was a bad guy, and it's a long story, and it was an accident, but my lack of foresight was one of the reasons he got as strong as he did. It's my fault! I doomed our game sessions. What flavor are the chips?

Check next to the coffee maker? Possibly under that table. [He's actually kind of expecting her to be nosy because she's Jade. Not that there's much she hasn't seen before save for a few new drawings and charts. And a pair of green wool socks stuffed under another table. And a notebook on another table which may be the only thing not surrounded by clutter. He gets that she doesn't want to talk about it, but he is discreetly jotting that info down on his paper of notes on the wall.] Salt and Vinegar. If you don't want them just set them on the table and I might eat them when I feel like it. And, worse case scenario, I might be willing to grace you with my presence and we can leave to get something else.

[ She's seen most everything in his room, but she's been careful, almost on eggshells since his sort-of breakdown. Jade has done her best to be gentle, respectful. ]

Can we have pizza?

[ She digs the bag of chips out, though, opening it up and-- smelling them, of all things. Whoah. Salt and vinegar chips. These were pungent as hell. ]

I really want pizza.

[Considering the fact he's still currently a bit unhinged, that's probably wise. Still, he's doing better about keeping himself in check today, though he can't help but snort at the suggestion.] Why pizza? Does Asgard even have a good pizza place here?

[Typical dog, sticking her nose in where it probably shouldn't be. They're good chips if you only want a handful, which is about all he ever has at any given time.] And get your face out of there.

Get my face out of where?

[ She looks up at him, ears perked- it doesn't even occur to her that he's talking about smelling the bag. Of course she's going to smell the bag; did you expect her to just shove chips of an unfamiliar flavor into her mouth, Draco? Jeeeez. ]

And, um, yes! There's a good pizza place. [ - what is that? Is she biting back a little smile there? ] Riku and I are gonna go when we get time.

[A small, wry grin.] The bag, Jade. You look ridiculous.

...Riku? [He knows Riku, vaguely. They've spoken a few times before and Draco's found him to be a bit of a mystery, but he wasn't aware that Jade knew him. Then again, at this point who doesn't Jade know? He doesn't say anything else yet though, but he's definitely giving her a Look. Go on, Harley. Keep explaining.]

I wish you'd told me to not stick my face in there in the first place- the smell nearly knocked me off my feet. Salt and vinegar. Who thought that would be a good flavor? It sounds like ingredients to a cleaning mixture.

[ But she pops one into her mouth anyway, chewing carefully. The half-cringe masks her frown at Draco. ]

And yes, Riku, a friend of mine. Don't get any ideas.

I use them to kill strangers with my breath. I didn't realize you were actually prone to sniffing everything. [No seriously, you're over-exaggerating. He finally actually stops working to give her his attention, trying not to laugh at her expression upon eating one.]

Who said anything about ideas?

I was smelling food. If I can't smell food, what can I smell?

[ She's just being petulant, though, and very slowly, nose crinkled, she eats another chip. She can't seem to decide if she likes them or not. ]

And you! You looked at me. I know what that look means.

Something that smells better than food, I don't know. [He leans forward, resting his elbows on his knees and giving her another look, this time of faux-innocence.]

What look?

[ Jade just rolls her eyes at him, padding over to where he's sitting. ]

Open up.

[ She's holding a chip. ]

[...really? Really?

...fine. Opening his mouth and taking that chip.]

Satisfied?

[ Jade just stares at him, wide-eyed for a moment.. before she bursts into laughter. ]

Oh my god, you just let me feed you.

[Shrug. Munching.] I'm used to being spoiled, remember?

If you were being fed salt and vinegar anything, I think it's more likely you were tortured, not spoiled.

[ She pulls a face, but she's eating another. ]

Not quite. Pans used to feed me but it wasn't salt and vinegar anything. [He's watching though.] Does that make you a masochist then?

I hang out with you, don't I?

[ She sticks her tongue out at him, before chewing another chip. ]

For reasons I'll never figure out. [He's unfolding his limbs suddenly from his sitting position, standing up and stretching. There are even audible popping and cracking noises the further he bends.] Anyway, do you want pizza or are you happy eating my grotesque-smelling snacks?

[ She winces at he stands and stretches, on her feet after him in a moment. Almost as an afterthought, she untangles the little vine from her hand, moving to place it on his desk. Right there in the center. ]

Pizza, pizza, pizza.

[ In a mock chant. ]

[And he's watching it, staring at the little plant and already deciding to take care of it later.] All right, all right. If we're going though I'm kicking you out so I can change. I'm not going out like this. ['Like this' being in a pair of loose pants and an oversized hoodie. Again, the classic "Malfoy rolled out of bed and started working" look.] Fair?
