...How do you memorialize a god?  I realize that there are many of us here who still don't agree with the gods, their war, or the way they've chosen to go about fighting it, but I think we should all recognize the sacrifice that Freyr made.  Regardless of whether or not he was only trying to protect the other gods, it's a fact that his actions saved us all when everything looked hopeless, and he should be honored for that.  A funeral doesn't seem quite appropriate, but I'm not sure what else would be.

Yes, he was the patron god of artistic expression.

Yep. Old rule of thumb with the dead. Do something to tell the living you noticed the things that were important. It's what I did with a friend of mine.

His powers are Drawing Life and Bardic Influence, right? There are people who love music and art just as much as the people in Freyr's house do.

If we all worked together, I bet we could really make something great to honor him with.

We could...have some sort of public memorial. A place where people could come honor him whenever they wanted.

Sort of, yeah. Or something like an altar. Either way, it could be someplace...where people could come remember what he did.

The way to remember and memorialize a god... I don't know about any other worlds, but in mine, we remember our gods through prayer and books. Perhaps a large prayer would help?

Mm... I like that. It'd be nice to have something for people to say a few words, I think. Those of us who want to. It doesn't have to be much.

But anyone's soul deserves to be laid to rest peacefully after that.

I agree. I had already thought Freyr to be the god most concerned with us travelers, but this....

[He had saved all their lives, and given them a second chance. It was not something he had expected.]

He should be honored and remembered.

[ Putting the finger on the sore spot, huh, Lyon. Asahi still doesn't know for sure how to deal with all this, she's never liked the gods yet that sacrifice.. it's still difficult to think about, which is why it takes her a moment or two to even think of what to say. ]

So would a sacrifice for selfish reasons still be something good?

It saved a lot of peoples' lives. I think that's always a good thing, regardless of what his reasons for doing it were. And we'll probably never really know what he was thinking, so I thought this would at least be a way to say thank you.

I don't think you're wrong. It's just that it feels.. weird, not even knowing his true intentions in the end.

I know not of worship to any god, but - for a fallen soldier and a noble sacrifice, I think perhaps a vigil would be in accordance.

Something like asking everyone to light a candle in Frey's memory and put it in their window on the same night, maybe?
