[thoughts]

[ River can be seen wandering around the common area of Odin's Welcome Hall almost as though in a trancelike state. Her steps are light and even, ball to toe on bare feet, and her fingers trail over every object she passes even though her eyes are wandering curiously around the ceiling and the walls and the rest of the room - never to what she's touching. It might seem like she's looking for something, or even listening for something, but she doesn't seem to find it, and never once ceases her calculated footsteps. Eventually the video times out. ]

[ Some time later, the video clicks back on and River's face fills the entire feed, far too close as she tries to peer into the little jewel of her bracelet. She eventually gives up and pulls back to show brown eyes wide and curious, dark hair framing pallid skin that's ... almost gold in the scant lighting.

She's sitting in the middle of the slide, feet tucked underneath her to stop her from going down any further. Her eyes skitter around the confined space before settling back on the bracelet. She says only two words as a whisper, like if she says it any louder, it might break the spell. ]

It's quiet.

[ Simon starts when he hears that voice coming from his bracelet. He knows that voice. ]

[Inara blinks, staring - hardly believing she's seeing the willowy River on the screen. Oh no. She's really the last person who needed to be showing up.]

Mèimei - are you all right?

[ River startles a little at the appearance of the video, and tilts her head curiously before responding maybe a few seconds into awkwardland. ]

All right, but not ... right.

[ She listens for another second, to the sound of nothing, then smiles just a little. ]

[There is something about her overall manner that catches the Doctor's attention first off, but the next that does it is... Well.

That looks very much like a slide.

And she's sitting in it.

And that is very endearing.]

You found the slide. Doesn't look like mine, though. Another house, probably?

Should you really be sitting in it? Someone might want to ride it and bump into you. Or maybe that's what you'd do for fun.

Do you usually sit in slides? [It's probably a stupid question, but Alexis was curious about this girl, and it was the first thing she thought of.]

[This girl is... weird. If Dean didn't know better, he'd almost think she could be a ghost or some sort of supernatural creature. But she's got a bracelet, and she looks very much real even through the feed. Just a loon, then.]

[Spencer should have known better than to walk around the common area with an open book in his hands. Really, someone with his level of intelligence could have easily deduced what would happen.

At first it was only a table he bumped into as his fingers scanned the page. He paused to stead a lamp from falling off, then continued his meandering. Something about walking while reading was soothing to him, but it prevented him from being aware of his surroundings, particularly the tiny girl he ran right into.

Fortunately she didn't fall down. Spencer's eyes widened in embarrassment.]

O-Oh, I'm sorry!

[ It's entirely understandable - 'them intellectual sorts,' always shoving their noses into one thing or another. River's too busy observing her surroundings that, though she notices Spencer's (less than dignified) path, she only regards him as another curious thing in the room until the moment he runs right into her.

Now, it's the apology that throws her. Manners aren't typical out in the Black, and usually she's just in the way. She blinks and looks at the book in his hands and the way his fingers curl around it, but not his face. ]

You were in a story. But then you came back.

[ She'll look up at him then, like this is the perfect justification and she understands completely. You can't get mad at a story; it's already written. ]

Welcome back.

[It will never stop being entertaining to him that the house that brags about it's brains would have a slide. It's simultaneously the most juvenile and awesome thing he could think of. He's 16, he's allowed.

So when he decides to take the slide for the first time, his buzz is considerbly ruined when he sees the road block of doom. That being a small girl. He tries to put the breaks on but only ends up practically throwing himself off the slide. Hi River's back, how are you this fine day.]

Oh god I think I broke my face. Ahh. [Slowly gathering enough dignity to ask the roadblock if it's okay.]

[ The logical course of action would be to move her feet and let them both go free, but. Well, River's not all that logical.

Instead, she just turns to face him with a Look. ]

Human bones can withstand one-hundred and sixty million pascals before breaking. Not broken.

[ River just ... looks at her, for a second, before looking away. They don't understand, but ... maybe that's okay. Maybe that's a good thing.

She rests her head on her knees. ]

[ Raven sat and watched this girl on the feed, was actually going to say something the first time she saw her image come up but then it timed out.

So here she is, watching the girl again. She's... interesting? Actually weird. Weird is probably a better word ]

[ River's distracted, so many interesting feeds and features on the bracely, that she doesn't immediately look to Raven's video when she hears the question. ]

[ She stops her wandering, but her eyes linger around the ceiling a moment longer before finally traveling down to Itsuki. ]
