001; audio; day 65
[The transmission is preceded by a brief sigh, a sound halfway between begrudging and resigned. Not the best noise to make while forming a first impression, but he's past caring at the moment.]
Hello. My name is Lelouch vi Britannia, and evidently, I am among Asgard's newest residents. [A brief pause.] If at all possible, an introduction to the city beyond the incredibly spartan letter and explanation offered by the house staff would be appreciated. I've taken the liberty of browsing some of the messages already posted, of course, but that hardly beats the convenience of having it all rephrased yet again for me, doesn't it?
[He may sound faintly self-mocking. Just faintly, though, and it fades in an instant.]
Besides, it seems like I'm going to be staying here for a while.
[Sudden opening of the city gates or not. And... well, it can't hurt to ask, so after a pause, he does.]
The term "Ragnarok" has come to mean a number of things over the centuries. A selfish man thought it would be the dawn of a new era of peace at the expense of personal freedom and expression. Of course, he wasn't looking at it in those terms, but that's what the result would have been.
Tell me, are our actions here meant to preserve this world from a literal twilight of the gods, a figurative one, or something else?

[He's greeted with a kind smile, first and foremost, a genuine welcome. And even though she's just arrived herself, the way she carries herself makes it seem like she's been here much longer.]
I would be happy to offer you an introduction, though I will apologize in advance, for it will be somewhat lengthy. But this is preferable to the brief letter, I am sure.
And to your last question, the Ragnarok that we face here is a literal one, according to the gods themselves. Whether you believe them or not is a matter of your own decision, but personally, I am taking it seriously.
audio;
[More or less, at any rate, but he's smiling warmly back. It isn't visible because he's still distrustful enough to venture only as far as audio, but that doesn't mean she can't hear it in how he speaks.]
A literal one? But of course. Do you know how closely it resembles the myth? I don't recall ever reading about a city like this one, so I find myself doubting that it's identical, but these things can always be reinterpreted.
sorry for the delay! ;;
[a beat, then she adds,]
I am a new arrival myself, but other residents have compiled information about this world, and I have done some reconnaissance on my own as well.
[And she will summarize most things here, mostly centered around things she learned directly from the gods' posts.]
If you would like clarification on anything, I may be able to provide. I cannot promise it, since I've only just arrived. It is certainly quite a bit to take in.
sorry here, too D| what is tagging
[In other words, yes, he's a strong believer in Murphy's law, and besides, it's better to assume the worst, isn't it?]
Thank you for the information, at any rate. You've gathered an impressive amount for such a short stay. [And he means it, for once. Unfortunately--] It is a rather lot to absorb. I'll have to get back to you on questions, if that's all right. I'm still acclimating.

Midgardian tales tend to be quite dramatic, do they not? A great deal of fire and death and destruction is usually involved.

If the gods here are any indication of what we're supposed to preserve, I'm not very galvanized.

Even if they hail from a slightly more contemporary era, the mythology suggests a kinda brutality you wouldn't want from deities. So, again, fuck their preservation. This shit belongs in history books.

Moving on, you might want an introduction from some of the seniors instead. They'll probably flock over to your voice eventually, so no worries.
Did you get a map?
( voice )
It's nice to meet you, and yes, I received a map. Why?
( voice )
There's also getting a job tidbit... If you're planning on getting more luxurious items.

[Freyr pauses for a long time, he looks incredibly sad, though it's rather obvious he isn't talking about this place.]
Why did you change Odin?
From what Freyr has seen of this place this is hardly Ragnarok. Freyr would rather lose all the color in the world than face the potential consequences of a Ragnarok truly realized.

Other than that... if you have any other questions that haven't been answered yet, I can try to help. I'm Hope, by the way.
audio
Hello, Hope. You can tell me exactly what we're supposed to do to "bring life to the world." I haven't yet heard an explanation.
audio
And that's probably because we don't really have a straightforward answer. The most I've heard is... forming connections with other people, or something like that.
