( the video begins with doctor mccoy, sitting at a desk in his room in sigyn. he looks particularly business-like, hair combed and expression serious, hands folded in front of him. before he speaks, he clears his throat—it’s almost as if he’s still a little uncomfortable to be addressing so many people at once, but that’s the only sign of it. )

Figure it’s best to get this out of the way while we’ve got the time. ( before another disaster or attack happens, he means. ) I like having a frame of reference—makes it easier to deal with people, and treat ‘em too, when you have to. I know we’re all working off the same magical system, here, but it’s better to account for specifics all the same.

That being said, here’s a list. Fill it out if you want, don’t bother telling me why not if you don’t want to. You can be as specific, or as vague, as you want, or leave out questions entirely if they bother you. Well obviously I'm planning on killing everyone, but I wanna make sure I can go in age order. ( the eye roll that follows is dramatic. )

I'm a scientist. I work on data-- even if this place doesn't. If there's a pattern here, or a way to help someone who gets injured in the future and might not be a species the healers are familiar with, information like this can help.

The former. Adults're more annoying, as a rule. ( but are you serious because if so this conversation is really too morbid for him. )

It's good that we have men of your skills here. The god-granted healing powers are useful, but they have their limits.

It's six of one, half a dozen of the other. I don't rely on magic, but I'm away from resources and tools that make up a good part of my expertise. But I figure, between everyone here, we'll be able to make do.

Medicines based on chemistry, rather than herbalism. Regenerators for broken bones and wounds. Things like that.

How quickly did these regenerators works?

Depends on the injury. Your average fracture needs about twenty minutes, tops.

Healing does the same thing, in the end. But it's not as trustworthy.

Nor fast enough for those who find themselves severely limited by their injury. Such a device would be extremely useful in my homeland.

Maybe not. Seems a bit unfair, to me. People should never die of things that there's even the smallest chance of curing.

Many things in life are unfair. That's why it's so important to educate the people and expand our knowledge.

A lot can happen in two hundred years. ( that's how far ahead he's been of most people, so he figures the same applies. )

A lot of stupid shit can happen, too, but focusing on the progress is always nicer.

I believe men capable of more than even they may believe. Progress will only be limited if they fail to see that.

I think we mostly avoid that, eventually.
