( joan takes a moment before recording. she has just recently woken up and, despite the dreamlike elements to it, she knows that it was real, that she had in fact gone home, if only temporarily. )

Hi, I'm Joan. I've met a few of you when I arrived a while ago.

( she pauses, proceeding carefully. ) When I recently woke up, I remembered things that haven't happened yet...at least, things that couldn't have happened if I'm still here in Asgard. But I know they were real. I'm not sure I understand it completely though. ( there is a question in her voice, but she doesn't vocalize it anymore than that. )

I guess what I want to know is whether or not it's safe for that to happen? ( this became a concern for her after realizing how much time had passed.

she asks less for herself and more for sherlock. it appears as though sherlock is also going through a similar process, though he hasn't woken up yet. although none of this necessarily surprises her as much as it would have prior to her arrival in asgard, it does concern her. joan is careful not to mention sherlock in this though, especially when there's multiple moriarty's running around. )

I've down my research, of course. I have not experienced it personally but the flow of time and change has always been different for me than it is for you and Sherlock, it would explain the memories I have which you do not.

Mm. I heard about that - that you're from a point in time after you're released from prison. Convenient, isn't it?

You are sadly incorrect. I know you think little of me, Joan, but the extent of my memories has not served me well. How can it when the odds of me convincing you they are truth are so slim?

[ softly; she knows how to play this, Jamie does. She can play Sherlock better, naturally. Joan - she has to be more careful with Joan, as to not make the same mistake twice. ]

( moriarty may have convinced sherlock, but joan finds it much more difficult to accept her words as the truth. )

Why does it matter what I think? Truth or not, we're still stuck in Asgard.

[ clever, clever Joan. And how could Moriarty have made the error of not seeing her as she is. it makes her smile and the smile is probably out of place given the topic of the discussion but there's little to do about it. asgard is a puzzle and a good one, she would admit that but jamie is not the kind to appreciate being locked in a room with her puzzles. there is hell to pay for all of this.

what does it matter what joan watson thinks? jamie was able to accept the conclusion that she holds sherlock's opinion in a high regard, that his thoughts of her actions matter at some level but joan, why joan? she has determined nothing of the sort about her and for a moment, the tilt of her head turns confused, as if she is considering the question and comes up with nothing.

why, truly? ]

until we solve it, it would seem.

( trying to understand moriarty's fascination with her wasn't becoming clear. sure, she had figured out a way to trap her for her crimes, but was it really different than circumstances surrounding other criminals? maybe, because of sherlock's connection to her, but joan didn't have that relation to her. though, in all honesty, neither did sherlock - there was no irene adler. just moriarty. maybe there was an elaborate plot behind all this, maybe not, but if it took one step toward her or sherlock, they would need to take action.

[ but joan, that does sound ever so much like a challenge mixed with an invitation and her lips curve into a smile that is brilliant and genuine because thisthisthis, she has been waiting for this. she would not disappoint. the closer she becomes, the more she'll understand. she wants to know joan watson from the inside out, wants to trace the lines of her mind as one does a frame of a painting and drink in her thoughts until she knows her. ]

You do not know how keen I am on doing that, joan. tell me.

That isn't something I can answer. It's something you need to figure out.

( there might be a moment in the future that presents itself, that offers moriarty that moment to prove herself trustworthy. joan will be watching when that happens. )

[ it is a chance. a chance of something and jamie moriarty would spend hours, days, weeks on the question of what makes her want to play this game with joan watson and come out with nothing but she complies. ]

this is more than an intellectual challenge for me, rest assured.
