( joan takes a moment before recording. she has just recently woken up and, despite the dreamlike elements to it, she knows that it was real, that she had in fact gone home, if only temporarily. )

Hi, I'm Joan. I've met a few of you when I arrived a while ago.

( she pauses, proceeding carefully. ) When I recently woke up, I remembered things that haven't happened yet...at least, things that couldn't have happened if I'm still here in Asgard. But I know they were real. I'm not sure I understand it completely though. ( there is a question in her voice, but she doesn't vocalize it anymore than that. )

I guess what I want to know is whether or not it's safe for that to happen? ( this became a concern for her after realizing how much time had passed.

she asks less for herself and more for sherlock. it appears as though sherlock is also going through a similar process, though he hasn't woken up yet. although none of this necessarily surprises her as much as it would have prior to her arrival in asgard, it does concern her. joan is careful not to mention sherlock in this though, especially when there's multiple moriarty's running around. )

It was something more than just a dream...I know I experienced it. ( it's difficult to explain but she tries anyways. ) It's like my mind experienced my normal life back home, but when I woke up, I was still here in Asgard.

That's good to know, at least. I wonder though what would happen if someone is physically hurt in these...dreams. That is, would they be hurt here as well?

You mean you woke up remembering experiences from home while your body's been here the whole time? Yeah, the same thing happened to me. I don't know how it's possible... which isn't a helpful answer, sorry.

Yes, that's exactly it. I guess the 'how' is probably beyond what most people are accustomed to, but I'm more concerned with whether or not it's safe.

In any of these...dreams, were you ever hurt? And if you were, did they carry over here in Asgard? ( the cases that she and sherlock took up often put them in danger so it's useful to know. )

It's happened to plenty of people. Doesn't seem to have any lasting damage. It's ... pretty absurd, but so is everything in this place.

Apparently not. The gods would most likely explain that away with magic.

Is magic ever not the explanation? ( maybe a little bitter because really, it was getting old a bit too fast. )

[ in all truths, moriarty does have some knowledge of what happened. mainly out of the many hours she spent stalking the network and listening to people's conversations in the city. it's not that she's worried for Joan, per se, because Moriarty isn't one for worry. She simply feels a spike of anger towards the Gods. Some would say it's the same anger a child would feel when another would try and tinker with their toy; others would say it's an anger when feels when they are almost protective, when they almost care.

( and she does care, in her own way. ]

Happened before, to many. I imagine it must be because of the force that drives this place. Magic, I suppose they call it. There is a connection between this world and our own, the Gods use the metaphor of a tree. At times, I imagine the borders become vague and in those times, one can see things that hadn't happened but in some ways did happen or will happen. I don't imagine you want to discuss the psychology of time and space? If you do, Joan, you know I always do love our tea times.

I've down my research, of course. I have not experienced it personally but the flow of time and change has always been different for me than it is for you and Sherlock, it would explain the memories I have which you do not.

Mm. I heard about that - that you're from a point in time after you're released from prison. Convenient, isn't it?

Though I suppose if you die that isn't as safe--but that is just your life.

I assure you, I'd rather never have it happen again, but we have little choice.

It seems to me as though little in this realm is sensical, my lady.

[ Though the notion of such dreams makes him highly uncomfortable. So much about Asgard should be impossible, and yet... there it is, in plain sight. ]

I guess it's probably silly to even ask about things like this after what people have been through here. I'm mostly just concerned for a friend.

I don't necessarily think it's unsafe. Or, if it is, it's in some really weird, prolonged evidence kind of way because I went through the same thing somewhat recently and haven't had any issues so far. [ Other than memories of unpleasant, terrible, horrible, no good things happening back home. ] But I could be wrong.

It seems pretty consistent that there's no immediate threat to us with the dreams, at least from everyone I've spoken to. It's probably the best we can hope for, given the circumstances.

[ She nods slightly. ] And, unfortunately, I have a feeling that hoping's the best we're going to get. I don't know if the gods would even care enough to answer any questions we have in regard to it. Or if they'd give us straight answers.
