[ sup Asgard, here's an oracle looking particularly pleased, and it's because she's ..particularly pleased with herself. or maybe just in general. it's hard to tell. but she's sitting on the floor of a bedroom ( hers? probably. but who knows. ), her bracelet being held up for a moment when the feed first clicks on before it's put on the floor in front of her. then she's kind of stretching but kind of not, leaning forward a little, pretty much just to avoid the most unflattering camera angle in the world. but she's too jittery to actually hold the camera up, so- right. anyway. ]

So I've been thinking. [ there's a pause, like she's imagining someone going 'uh oh' ] And I think what this city really, really needs is an art club. Or an art- something. Club sounds too much like high school. And that's not what I'm thinking of. Not really a class, but just a time and place where people can get together and make- stuff. Make art. There's a really great space in the Freyr district that's open to the public to use, and I've been going there just to draw and paint on my own, but I just keep thinking that it might be really cool if there was a whole group of us. And I already know there's a few people here who like art as much as I do, so I figured I'd bring it up. Because why not.

We don't even have to work on any projects together, specifically, but sometimes it's kind of nice surrounding yourself with people just creating things, right?

[ there's a pause, and she sighs a little sigh ] I know that there are a lot of really scary things going on, and I've found myself more caught up in them than I ever thought I would be. But our purpose here isn't just about fighting and sweating and bleeding to try and save the worlds, right? It's about bringing the color back.

And... Isn't that what art is for?

[ oo, so insightful, she might have practiced that one. then she's grinning again, a little mischievous ]

So... Let me know if you want in, okay? Oh, and if anybody wants a live model to paint, I've got just the man for the job. [ she's looking up past the camera now, reaching to shut it off as she does. ] Hey, Stiles-!

[ she makes a little hnn of protest, but that's kind of nice. patterns are nice. the threat of tickles isn't, but she won't focus on that. ]

I hope people are into this art club idea. [ ..apparently she's focusing on that now. her hand moves to rest flat on his chest, so she can rest her chin there ] Do you think people will go?

[teenyoda]

Why not? Distractions are good around here. It's nice to have something that's not all death and god bullshit related to focus on. Art might be nice. I can't draw to save my life, but I'll bet there's loads of people here who wouldn't mind it.

[He lifts up and presses a kiss to the curls on top of her head.]

It's a good idea, Rach. And a nice one.

Hey, Mr. Defeatist. Everybody can draw. Just like how everybody can dance, and everybody can ..do math. It's just a matter of how well. And if you're willing to practice. [ well way to go now she has ideas ] I'm going to teach you how to draw something really cool. And you're going to be so good at it, that when you bring it home, your dad will want to hang it up on the fridge. Which is, honestly, the true artistic test. How good it looks on your fridge.

[teenyoda]

[He snorted a laugh, rolling his eyes where she couldn't see it.]

Sorry, Red, but I just can't do more than doodle. It's just the way it is. What winds up on my fridge are decent grades. That's what's on the Stilinski fridge. That and grocery lists.

Aw, really? He hangs your report cards?

[ she was kind of maybe joking, and definitely thought people only did that in movies ;; cute. parents are cute. ]

Used to. Then I started getting, ah, additional notes on them.

[Not like the Stilinski household had much in the way of guests. Scott had pretty much been the only person to come over, other than the occasional deputy to pick something up. It was usually just the two of them most of the time. Usually just one.]

Did your teachers like to remind you of how you have 'so much potential' too? Maybe how you only need to 'apply yourself' and you'll get more out of every boring class you have to take? I got a lot of that. Apparently I'm a very obvious daydreamer. [ and she sounds very amused by the fact ]

[teenyoda]

I get distracted easily. It's not so bad when I have my meds, but without them, I shouldn't be doing anything like driving.

[truesight]

Are you sure you're not secretly a demigod? You've got all the classic symptoms. Well, minus the dyslexia. You're pretty fine at text messaging.

[ she's mostly just being silly, but hey, maybe it's wishful thinking. Stiles being a demigod could mean that maybe they're from the same world, just. you know, different sides of the country. that's not as far away as two completely separate universes. so she's just going to slide off of him to lay more on his side than, uh, on him, though her chin just moves from his chest to his shoulder ]

Your dad doesn't remind me of any god in particular, but. Maybe your mom could be your godly parent. She wouldn't happen to be the kind of mom that only visits on special occasions, would she? Says she's "busy with work" but she's actually secretly hanging out on Mount Olympus. It's possible, I'm just saying.

[teenyoda]

[He shifted with her so his arm could tuck under her, keeping her close as she just sort of sprawled beside them. There was that big bed up there and she seemed to want to lay on the floor. Weirdo.

But at the mention of his mom, he felt that lump in his throat, that bit that made it hard to swallow as he blinked up at the ceiling.]

No, my mom's not a goddess. Pretty sure Greek goddesses don't die.

[He doubted a god of any sort would die from a slow and debilitating disease. It would be a nice thought, though. That his mom was still alive somewhere... waiting for him.

He subtly lifted a hand to sort of... swipe at the tears that were filling his eyes.]

[ wait, what did that

mean.

oh.

well, that's. a huge punch in the gut. or no, it's more like, up by her chest.

she always just assumed, maybe it was because he had such a good relationship with his dad. she sort of automatically assumed his mother was there too, happy family? it fit. it made sense. but she was wrong and she feels like she made a huge, huge mistake because she was making a stupid joke and so she sits up, bracing her weight on one hand while the other settles on his chest. for like, a second, and then she's pulling back. oh gods, oh gods. ]

I'm so, so sorry, I didn't- know. Stiles?

[teenyoda]

[He wiped again, making sure they were as dry as they were going to get, then gave her a tight smile.]

Hey, don't apologize. It's not like you knew. I don't exactly run around talking about how my mom's dead.

[He shrugged, or tried to while lying on his back.]

It's okay, Rach.

[truesight]

No, I am though, that was so not cool of me at all, I didn't even- [ she stops to take a breath, mouth twisting up a bit. it's probably a little ridiculous, how hard it is to think right now because she's given Stiles a reason to be upset, but she feels scrambled, like that feeling you get when you almost drop something on the floor that you would have been really sad if something happened to it and- ] Can you maybe sit up so I can give you a hug, please?

[teenyoda]

Rach, really. It's not your fault.

[But he does move to push himself up, giving her a sort of sad look when he does. Not because of his mom, though there's that, but because he can see that she's upset by it and that's sort of the reason he doesn't talk about it. It's a depressing subject and it just makes him feel... lost.]

Could you maybe not blame yourself for it?

[truesight]

'Kay.

[ she can try, at least. she nods, scoots forward so she can slip her arms around his middle and rest her chin on his shoulder, turning to press a kiss just under his ear. oh, mhm, yep. she's just going to hold onto him for a second, just until she can get her emotions to exit panic mode and stop freaking out. she'd be lying if she said she didn't have any questions about it, but there's obviously a reason why Stiles nor his dad ever talked about it, like maybe it happened recently or maybe it had something to do with werewolves or-

nope, no, not thinking about it. she's just going to rub his back a little bit as they hug though, not because she's blaming herself for not knowing better, no, but because she gave him a reason for his expression to drop like that at all. right. ]

[teenyoda]

[It's easy for him to wrap his arms around her, to tuck his chin over her shoulder and just breathe her in. She looked like she'd kicked a puppy and hadn't noticed it until it yipped, that crestfallen look on her face sort of stabbing him right in the gut.]

Hey, you been doodling anything I should look at?

[Because Rachel was always doodling and she liked to talk about her art. Great topic change. He was the best.]

[ hey, way to talk without thinking first. she's not desperate to move right along, but Stiles asked her something and of course the honest truth is going to blurt out when she's holding onto him like this and trying to make sure he's okay. but then she's humming, which isn't quite a guilty umm, but it's close ]

That you should look at? Let me think. [ paper thin cover. paper. thin. her fingers lightly drum on his back as she continues ] I drew some strangers while I was people watching the other day. But there aren't too many because it's been too cold to sit outside for long, so those're boring. I dunno. What sort of doodling do you want to see?

[teenyoda]

[He half caught that, but he was sort of distracted himself, so if he didn't chase after it, he couldn't be blamed. He sat back, tugging on one of her curls and looking over at her bag she'd tossed near a chair, the one she usually brought with her sketch book.]

I don't know. Maybe I just want to see what's been running through that head of yours lately. Or maybe convince you to doodle up something for a snack.

[truesight]

[ his face is turned so she takes the opportunity to give him a big kiss on the cheek before moving onto her knees to stand up, Hale quick to follow because daddy said snack and he absolutely knows what that means. ] Bacon for Mssr Hale this time perhaps, hm? [ silly voices are always necessary. but she grabs her bag and then she's plunking it over onto the bed before crawling up after it ] Stiles, honestly, why are you on the floor when we've got such a great bed over here? Weirdo.

[teenyoda]

[He just gives her a look at that, waggling a finger before he pushes up and gets to his feet, only to crawl onto the bed, then over Rachel, then he just sort of... flomps on top of her.]

Oh yeah, totally see what you mean. Man, this is so much better than the floor.

[truesight]

[ aaaand flattened. which makes her laugh even as she wriggles to try and squirm out from underneath him, but that's a quickly abandoned task considering it's not really that bad. she manages to get close enough to her bag to reach forward and pull her notebook out from it, just so she can slide it closer to them. she flips through pages that mostly have things like this and this and nothing like this at all and this except pretend they're all in the same style right, ARRRTTT ]

My head has been full of charcoal lately. I'll color it eventually.

[teenyoda]

[He looked at the pages as she flipped through them, reaching out to stop something that looked vaguely familiar.]

Whoa, whoa, wait. Is that me?

[That looked like him. It looked a lot like him. Did she doodle him for real? He tried to grab the book and pull it closer to get a better look.]

[truesight]

What? Stiles, that's a centaur, wow.

[ nnnh, he reaches for the book and she tries to slide it further than he can reach, but considering he's on top of her that's probably not going to last for long ]

I get a hold of a red pen and things happen, okay, I really like your hoodie-

But it's not a- it's just a sketch-

[Hah! He won. Pulling the book away from her, he took a better look at the picture.]

You know, this isn't that bad. I mean, everything you do is good, duh, but this is... pretty much me. Dad might like to see this.

[truesight]

Oh, I mean. Thanks, but I don't know. I'm not, like, shy about my art but it's kind of different with you and your dad and- let me find a better one maybe?
