[Nepeta stands behind a brightly decorated stall in one of the main areas of Freyr, looking bright and chipper and even more excited than usual.

"Black and Blue" is the name announced across the front of the stall, with lots of not-completely-professionally drawn pictures of the services offered at Equius’ and her shop.

She has a smile on her face as she cheerfully accosts passers-by, offering them a tray of cupcakes, and she seems to have enlisted Aurthour to do the same, while Pounce carries an open bag of sweets in her mouth to draw people in.

Nepeta and Pounce both have a cute black and blue ribbon tied above one ear, and Aurthour seems to have acquired the same as a bowtie. Oh! And it looks like a certain glowering moirail of Nepeta’s has been talked into wearing the same as he presides behind the stall.]

Why am I not surprised? We're all being forced to be human.

Or at least a semblance of their limitations. I still retain cosmetic variations certainly, though some of the nature of my species is lacking in this place.

The lack of the recuperocoon requirement is a mostly welcome, if odd change, however.

Lack of what?

It is our species equivalent of a bed, one specifically designed to address the violent and bloody dreams our species is prone to, which lead to greater violence than is normal.

Where do I get one of those?

It isn't strictly necessary, and would probably be quite disgusting to sleep in the sopor slime if you attempted it. It doesn't help or harm us here, to be quite honest, but there's only one in the city. I've actually grown accustomed to sleeping without.

Why are you smiling?

It sounds like something I'd love to try, without the slime.

What exactly? A recupercocoon? It would do very little good, I'm afraid, and I am told that Sopor is even more toxic for other races than us.

Why in any world would you start sleeping with toxic slime in the first place?

So that the bloody nightmares of death and destruction don't drive us to extended madness and we kill each other off in carnage and glory? It would be an impressive display, mind you, but woefully impractical.

[He's remarkably calm about the whole idea.]

You are exceptionally strange. Why would you wish to dream of such things?

What can I say, I'm not one to make excuses for myself.

Well good. One shouldn't excuse one's behavior, but rather own it and accept it in oneself, or change it if one needs to. Excusing is cheap.

...but what are you dreaming of, exactly?

Panic and mayhem in the streets, wherever I go.

Oh, ah... in other words, you would prefer to be able to incite this fear or hatred? Eh, you really don't have to try much with my species. The nightmares simply exacerbate an already existing condition.

You're my kind of people, that's for sure.

It would not be the first time such an implication has been made. I cannot say for certain, though if you have a predilection towards extremes of violence, you would appreciate our society.

Where do you little guys live?

Around and about. Nepeta and I live together in our home withour lusi. One of the paid locations. Occasionally, others of our breed visit, but they're usually more solitary creatures.

I mean before being dragged off into this mess. What's it like?

Alternia? A world of violence, rage and conquest. Only the strong and most virile survive. It's furious solar ball bakes and destroys all but the jade blooded that dare stand under its rays, blinding all others with the sear of its light. We are a nocturnal species, generally. Living here is strange, as most are active in the daytime. There are beasts and monsters aplenty to slay and life is full of war and violence from its earliest inceptions. Alternia is a harsh teacher.

I'm with you on disliking the daytime. It's never been my taste.

Maybe I should move.

A choice I am in no position to make. Alternia has, after all, been utterly destroyed.
