The goal is fear. A message to us to keep us from thinking we are safe, from becoming complacent. I imagine, despite these words, that what occurred recently will be followed by a pause in which it might seem as though, indeed, it is over. Thus the message, in order to keep our anxiousness and unease alive throughout this semblance of peace.

This was what I meant when I spoke of the danger of believing in luck, Maglor. How do you know it is you? No one else has 'gifts' from home. Pleasant or unpleasant. I don't have any reason to believe you're the exception and neither do you.

We did suffer an attack of Fire and Frost Giants before you even arrived and given why we're here, it's hardly surprising we have portents of doom and such like. All part of the package, I assure you.

I imagine there's some kind of vestigial remnant. Given that we have memories and intelligence beyond that of a human, whatever this is somehow overrode the block. Perhaps that is why we're getting this 'telepathic feedback loop' as you put it.
