♛ 7th Curious Thought [Video]

[Alice is beaming proudly as she looks at the bracelet. The more observant will notice a slight scratch on her cheek and nose. Nonetheless, she looks very pleased with herself.]

It took me all day but I did it! I did it I did it! [She's bouncing.]

I made myself a pet! Oh but not any sort of pet! No no, I made Marigold!

Would you all like to meet him? I thought it would be a much nicer topic than the gloomy sorts people have been commenting on. [Because dead people? No, thank you. She has had enough of all of that.]

[A gryphon. Of course, he might have known.]

Really? Not a mock turtle?

[Maybe this is a bit dangerous, or at the very least silly, but he's curious to see what she'll say.]

[Ooops what has he done. Not that he's terribly sorry about it.]

When you do, please tell me. I should like to meet a mock turtle.

[This is just getting more and more interesting. Is she the Alice from the story, then? Or did she just read about it?]

Mmm, yes... [He remembers.] I shall take great care when speaking to him, I can assure you.

I'm afraid I've never had the chance to try mock turtle soup; perhaps it's for the best. I do dislike the notion of eating sentient beings.

It means being a higher form of life, mostly. Being able to carry on intelligent conversation--well. That might be pushing it a bit with some forms of sentient life.

A chicken, for example, would not be a form of sentient life. You and I, however, are.

[...that wasn't what he meant at all.]

The word to describe what you are is 'vegetarian', my dear, meaning that you prefer not to eat meat. That's quite a different thing, though I suppose the principle is more or less the same.

[Though not wanting to eat thinking beings was a bit different in his book, he knew plenty of people who thought it wasn't different at all.]

Ah... oh yes, that's right. Mmm. I see.

[That certainly makes sense. About the rabbit at least.]

Yes, well, birds can be a bit... silly like that, particularly pigeons. They tend to be rather feather-brained, you see.

[He's probably talking nonsense.]

Now, I never said that; there are actually quite a few bird races out there that are quite clever.

Pigeons, however, are decidedly not among them.

[And the race he's thinking of was rather foolish in their own way, despite how clever they were in many respects.]
