[She had nightmares again. Screaming, bloody things that leave her tearing at her mind, crying out and pleading with whatever god will listen to make them stop, make it all top.

But when she opens her eyes, she finds herself calmer, grateful even to be where she is, despite not having her crew, her family, with her. At least not most of it.

So she's awake and perched on her window, watching the sun. She smiles a little bore turning on her bracelet and staring into the recording device]

This place is strange. It gives us the people we love, then takes them away again. It gives us great gifts but at the price of some of the gifts we had...

But I think about where I could be. All the places I could be, one of them being dead, and I'm grateful that I'm here. Not every day, not most days, but right now I'm just grateful I can see the sun.

{She smiles a little sadly.] I like the quiet, even if I don't have all the people that matter

It's probably better that they're not.

I'd rather be selfish. Have them here, have the ship and the crew and that's it.

[advocacy]

I don't think most of the people I know would handle a place like this very well.

They'd probably be a bigger danger to themselves than help.

[littlesoul]

People adapt. They learn how to survive. Either that or they die.

[advocacy]

I'd rather they not die, I guess.

[littlesoul]

Dying is a natural part of life. They're going to die eventually.

People are resilient though It's more likely that they'll change, rather than die.

[advocacy]

I know they will, but I'd like for them to not speed up the process if I can help it.

[Some of them do a good enough job all by themselves on that front.]

[She nods.] I still want them here, they may die but Id rather them be dead than distant. Distant means they could be in trouble and you can't help them.

Dead is dead. Nothing can touch you once you're dead.

That's one [very morbid] way to look at it.

[littlesoul]

[She shrugs. It's the way that came naturally to her, she doens't see anything morbid about it.]

Do you really think yours would die faster here?

[advocacy]

[Daneca hesitates.]

I don't know what they'd do. [A little softer:] But I wouldn't be surprised.

[littlesoul]

Some people need so much looking after but it's worth it if they're the people that matter.

[advocacy]

If they'll let you.

[littlesoul]

Can't make them?

[advocacy]

Not really. Not every time.

[littlesoul]

[She nods.] Do it when you can. Hope that they're good enough to survive when you can't. Best we can do.

I think it's easier to say that than to remember it.

[littlesoul]

Sometimes we don't have a choice but remember.

[advocacy]

What do you mean?

[littlesoul]

Sometimes you can't do anything, sometimes you're stuck. Sometimes you...You have to hope they're good enough and you can't do anything to make a difference.
