What? Oh, no. You haven't been rude, Alice. You've been very helpful, honest. I don't really want to make a big thing of this, okay? Not everyone needs to know and fuss about it or anything. I only recently figured out myself back home, so it's been a lot to take in.
Not really a secret necessarily. I just, I'm not sure it matters here anyway. This isn't Corona, so...I'm no different than anyone else brought here, really. You know what I mean?
Well, yes, but you know what I mean. I wouldn't want people treating me any differently. It just...doesn't seem like that big a deal here. I'm not the princess of Asgard or anything.
Ah, just Rapunzel is fine, Alice. It's not like I was raised a princess, or really know a lot about being one, so I don't really...feel like one yet, I guess?
Of course I would. I mean--I'm still kind of nervous, since there is so much I don't know....But if I get back to Corona, I'll do what I can. So...princesses have to wear shoes?
I don't suppose they'd let me just....go barefoot? I mean, I know most of the people I saw in Corona had shoes or boots, and here too. I've just...never needed to wear them before. They aren't really comfortable.
I really couldn't tell you, Miss Rapunzel. I don't know your kingdom. I do know that shoes are to protect your feet from sharp things and really hot pavement.
Oh, well, I didn't really have any problems when I was there before with anything sharp or hot ground. I guess we'll see when the time comes though, what my parents think.
Perhaps you have very calloused feet, Miss Rapunzel. [While Alice means it as an observation and possible explanation to why it never bothered Rapunzel, she did not realize it could be rude until...]
Oh! That is... I don't mean to say you have rough feet, Miss Rapunzel!
Calloused? I don't know if my feet are rough. I'm not sure if they are or not, but I have spent most of my time inside before I met Eugene.
[But Rapunzel does not seem particularly phased at Alice's supposed rudeness, ignorant or just not caring about the state of her feet as long as they didn't hurt or were uncomfortable in shoes.]
Well, if you spent all your time inside, then you've not experienced all the sorts of weather there is. You may not know what your feet can handle yet.
My ankles? What's so wrong about that? [Running around barefeet, and with her skirt a little shorter, of course her ankles have been showing. Rapunzel just had no idea this was apparently a bad thing.]
