Why would someone choose to go grey?

Life can be plenty difficult here, too. It's a pretty complicated feeling.

But, you don't remember being grey. When you come back it's all still waiting for you.

Sometimes people get so sad that they don't want to stop being grey.

[It's said gently.]

But you're right -- it's a silly thing to do, isn't it? That's why you shouldn't make those kinds of choices when you're upset.

They never come back? I was told people always eventually come back.

Is it like saying means to someone when you're angry? You don't... really mean it?

Sometimes people here go home, when they turn grey. Other times, they come back. There's no real guarantee on what will happen, so you shouldn't risk taking off your bracelet unless you're inside your house.

[She frowns to herself in thought, though.]

It means you should always wait a couple of days to think about the consequences of your actions. Do you know what a consequence is?

But then if you shouldn't do it, why is it done?

I know what a consequence is.

It's sort of like what you said before, when you yell at someone when you're angry.

If you do something rashly without thinking about it, you don't get a chance to prepare for the consequences.

But being grey, you can choose to come back, if you took off the bracelet, you can just as easily put it back on.

You forget your sense of self when you turn grey.

It's not so easy.

Isn't that dangerous then? To forget yourself so completely you wouldn't think to come back?

That's why you shouldn't do something so foolish as to take off your bracelet without understanding the consequences.

I do understand the consequences, and I don't ever wish to take the bracelet off.

Then you have nothing to worry about, right?

I do suppose that is true. But there's no telling what may happen here.

That's extraordinarily true, but we can always be careful and keep our friends close to make sure we can minimize the risk.

That is a tad harder to do, miss, when we don't all live in the same place.

You don't have friends in your welcome house?

Oh! No, I do! Miss Rapunzel and Miss Luna are very nice to me! But I have other friends in other houses.

Then I suppose you'll need to trust their friends in their houses to keep an eye on them when you can't.

And if they don't live in the god houses?

Then surely they live with people who care for them, right?

My husband looks after me.

Oh! Is your husband here? I suppose I should call you Misses and not Miss! I apologize.

[She has to laugh a little bit, at her sudden panic.]

It's fine -- I don't mind.

You can call me Daphne, you don't have to call me miss or misses.
