[He had been quiet for a while busy with work and the guild. However that nightmare put everything he was progressing on, slow to a standstill. It was something he hadn't dealt on in awhile. It wasn't the sort of thing he could put behind himself at the moment though.]

...What would you do, if you were forced to start over from to a certain point in your life? [He questioned softly,his voice oddly devoid of emotion.]

What if you had to watch everything you've done and all those you've met fade away like smoke? Would you able to live knowing that everything you have ever known is gone and it may never come back?

[He stops after that last question, turning towards his window and gazing up at the sky. ]

I think I would be upset, at first. But then I would assume that everything happens for a reason, so I should start over and trust that something else will be coming along soon that would make trying again worth it.

That sounds sort of like destiny and a way of adapting to it.

I cannot say I would react well to losing all I have ever known in that short time, especially those I met under less than fortunate circumstances. However, I would at least try fix things for the better, even if it would ultimately be futile due to the rules of the universe.

The reasons that made it worthwhile in the first place haven't changed, have they?

There is only a tiny chance of that happening at best. A much bigger chance that those reasons will be gone as well.

Yes, those memories wouldn't fade away. [It would be a blessing and if that happened.]

[It's a question that Dirk needs time to consider. It takes him a bit to mull it over but the answer is clear to him.] Yes. If I couldn't prevent the situation I'd continue on. There is always a chance to get back what was taken and if not, I'd deal with it if it came to that.

There's not going to be any easy answers to this question.

I should have realized that before but I already asked. At least I am getting answers even if they aren't the easiest things to do. [He gets a little huff.]

My mind would have kept dwelling on it otherwise.

But... I think I kind of know how it must feel. To lose everything you've ever known and start all over.

You were through something like that? Um h- how hard was it to move on, a lot of people have said I should just move forward but I know it's much more than that.

Doesn't that often happen through life? The time that has gone by will not be returning, after all, and people will always be gone in a way or another.

But though some leave and are gone, new ones shall come. By moving on, making new bounds and fading the sadness for what you have lost.

And that's how you live.

Actually, it is something I've done many times before. I have relived moments of my past before. I have went through many loops of time in which I had to redo certain things. If happens when you have to make sure your timeline stays together.

One must live a thousand deaths to preserve certain things!

Does the death of my friends really count as fading away though? And I've had my entire planet destroyed, so I don't really think that will ever come back to me.

But I don't think that's bad!

...This wouldn't be time travel exactly, it's hard to explain but yes the death of your friends would count in a way.
