So, they say that you can judge people by what they like, right? I mean, if you like reading big long tedious books in your spare time, people will tend to think that you're big long and tedious when it comes to conversations. Or, if you like action movies and things with large explosions in them, people might think you're an adrenaline junkie and more likely to jump into a reckless situation. Or if you like really trashy romance novels, you don't actually have a life and stay at home all day because nobody will ever go out with you. Stuff like that, you get the idea.

So, I thought, why not ask people what they think about a certain thing I actually know a little bit about?

Insects.

[Yes, he's being serious. Nick gives the camera a level look.]

Tell me what insects you like, and I'll then judge what kind of person you are based on that. Yes, I'll count spiders in with that one. And if you don't like bugs all that much, you can just tell me which ones you don't like, and I'll judge that too. Think of this as a survey, of sorts.

If you have no idea what insects are, then I wonder what in the name of Sam Hill is going on with your world, because it must be the apocalypse over there or everything is messed up, that's all I can say.

Cricket song is pretty and serene - One of the few natural sounds I grew up hearing. But the bugs themselves are actually kind of cute, with the way they jump and those long antennae. Sort of like little rabbits. I'd see a lot of Moths in the city, flying around the bright signs or outside lights after dark. Their presence always added something to evening walks around the city. As for bees, I think their social structure is so interesting - the way they set themselves up with a hierarchy that works together in such perfect synch is pretty amazing to me. Besides, even if they sting, that's only in self defense - if you're kind to them, they have no reason to harm you. And it's better not to make them sting you anyway, being they die afterward.

I didn't say mosquitoes because I rarely had to deal with them, but I'd heard a lot about ticks and lice so they were formost in my mind. As for hornets, I've been stung by them before and really didn't enjoy the experience, though, at least I know I'm not allergic.

[He pretends to look bored while listening, but honestly? He likes talks about bugs, though he would even be more piqued with the mention of butterflies.]

...huh.

Once bitten, or well, stung, twice shy? And so you actually look past the appearance to look at what the insects actually do.

...Eh, not bad, I must say. Usually people just jump up on chairs and scream when they see talks about stuff like this.

I don't see much point in that - it's very irrational to act that way. Though, I could understand it more if it was an actual phobia or something that bought up terrible memories or something like that.

Yeah, well, it seems like the majority of people have a phobia towards anything that has more legs than they do. It's honestly really silly.

I have noticed a lot of people have a pretty strong feeling in that vein, yes. I think there are more people scared of Spiders than anything else. I can understand in the case of poisonous ones - that's a little more common sense - but to see people squish harmless house spiders is always disheartening.

Ugh, I mean, I don't like spiders myself, but at least I can agree that they serve a purpose in this world other than, I don't know, looking creepy.

It's even stranger when you consider most people don't care much for insects in the house. I think more Humans, in general, appreciate insects outside than they do when they come in. Spiders do help control indoor insect populations, so really, you would almost think Humans should be happy to have the little guys in and around the home.

Eh, remember, this is humans we're talking about. They're amazingly hypocritical. They love to invade other people's territories and pretty much make their home there, but any time something does the same to them, they can't stand it.
