Question.
Say a Traveller really wants to be doing something useful but he or she is coming up short on the ideas front. I'm not talking filling time here, I'm talking taking care of business, touring the facility, picking up slack.
For the sake of this question, let's assume that they're already training with their magical ability (not exactly combat orientated) and learning some fighting skills. But they're kind of new to this whole general public experience and feel like they should be doing more. Let's also assume kind of average in the skills department. I mean, there's stuff they're good at -- really, really good at lbh -- but none of that applies here in no-power central.
Advice?
((ooc: replies may be slow -- have a busyish day but wanted to get this up without further delay!))

I guess one of the best ways you can help aside from getting ready for the next battle is to spend time with the natives. Talk to them, work with them, whatever you want to do. That's how they get their colour back, and the health of the city is important to the war too.
I know it doesn't sound like a lot, but it is a big help.

Spending time? That actually sounds like something I am qualified to do. Maybe even over qualified.

It sounds like you're doing lots already. Some people won't get involved at all.

Or maybe volunteer for charity?

Woowoo!
Every city needs blood banks, right?
Or if you could cook, you could volunteer to cook for the people who fight!
Or maybe help people who can't cook!

There are parts of the city where foreigners obviously don't go as often. Out of the way neighborhoods. I'd seek them out and interact within them. If you know how to deal with battle, teaching the locals might help.
