[Alice looks at the screen and then claps her hand in joy.]

Oh I've done it! Oh how wonderfully splendid! [Alice examines the screen very closely.] Curiouser and curiouser! [She mumbled to herself.] I've not ever seen anything like it before! And to think, all I did was press the jewel! I've never known any sort of bracelet to do such a thing before. Or... well anything like this before. It's like a mirror! Oh but! The most curious mirror I've ever seen. Perhaps mirror is not correct... Now if it isn't a mirror, what would I call it. A window doesn't seem right though I can touch it like one. [She hmmed softly before pulling back.]

Now let's see! [She touches the screen and watches as it follows her around.] So many little squares and sorts! Whatever do they do? [Alice was unaware she had started recording her actions, instead trying to understand the bracelet. Lessons by gray people were all well and good when little girls actually listened to them. She pressed another button on the screen.] Look at all the names! [She whispers as she just reads everything. She moves to try and look under the touchscreen but said screen just follows her movement.] And there were all those people on it before... how do I get back to the little people in the boxes?

How peculiar! I do so wonder what this all does. [She tilts her head.] Now, if I were to press this-

[She cuts her feed.]

[She looks at him for a moment and then smiles.]

You say such lovely things, Doctor. [She could listen to him talk all day.]

[ Oh, stop it, you. ]

I'm only saying what's true, so, technically, you're what's lovely about it.

Me? Don't be silly Doctor. There isn't really much that's lovely about me. I've a very long way to go.

General you, all of you. Which means you too. I see plenty of lovely in here.

[ He reaches out to poke her nose. ]

[She blushed and then smiles.] Well, I think you're lovely too, sir. And I've only just met you.

Oh, yes! That I did! Come along, then.

[ He steps a bit further into the Welcome Hall as he activates his bracelet. ]

[She followed dutifully.] It's not going to take too terribly long, is it?

Oh, no, it shouldn't! I don't think so. I learned it quicker than most would, I suppose, so I don't really know.

You are not a normal person, sir, I'm not surprised you learned it faster.

[ He finds a couch and sits down on it. ]

Turn yours on and you can repeat everything I do.

Oh! Ah, yes sir! [She turned on the bracelet and gazed at what... was a mess of technology.] What... am I looking at, exactically?

[ And he leans over to point at her screen as he explains.

Once he's made sure that she understands where everything is, he starts explaining the functions - video, voice and text, private calls and filtered posts, the contact list etc etc., both the basics and the more advanced. Then, he leans back and turns his own bracelet off. ]

[It was an awful lot to take in, and while Alice understood a good deal of it, some of it went well over her head. She promptly sat down to rest a hand to her temple.]

Oh dear... and this is... it's expected we understand all of it?

Well, no, not really. Just the basics of it. That's what you'll need. The rest comes in time; you humans are good at it. Picking things up. Especially at your age.

Right the... basics... Audio, the strange... video and ah, text. Those are the very basics.

Yes, those, and the contact list, and filtering. The rest can wait a little, I suppose.

Ohhh, but those are the best things! The brown blocks and the brown thing in a jar, I mean. You should give that a go. Let's do that right now, actually.

[ He's hopping up, and offers his hand to her. ]

[She takes his hand and smiles. What a wonderfully sweet man! She hops up with the same enthusiasm.]

You promise it's edible? I've been having jam and toast since I've arrived!
