Oh I've done it! Oh how wonderfully splendid! [Alice examines the screen very closely.] Curiouser and curiouser! [She mumbled to herself.] I've not ever seen anything like it before! And to think, all I did was press the jewel! I've never known any sort of bracelet to do such a thing before. Or... well anything like this before. It's like a mirror! Oh but! The most curious mirror I've ever seen. Perhaps mirror is not correct... Now if it isn't a mirror, what would I call it. A window doesn't seem right though I can touch it like one. [She hmmed softly before pulling back.]

Now let's see! [She touches the screen and watches as it follows her around.] So many little squares and sorts! Whatever do they do? [Alice was unaware she had started recording her actions, instead trying to understand the bracelet. Lessons by gray people were all well and good when little girls actually listened to them. She pressed another button on the screen.] Look at all the names! [She whispers as she just reads everything. She moves to try and look under the touchscreen but said screen just follows her movement.] And there were all those people on it before... how do I get back to the little people in the boxes?

How peculiar! I do so wonder what this all does. [She tilts her head.] Now, if I were to press this-

...A mirror?

[Oh! Alice nearly jumped when the screen talked to her.]

Oh ah... hello? [She came up as close as she could to the screen.]

Oh! It's a boy! [How fascinating! Was he stuck on the other side? Alice went around the screen just to be sure. She waved a hand in front of it.] Where... where are you?

[Yes it's a boy- Hugo frowns a bit that that had to be pointed out]

[Give her a moment, Hugo. She blinks. Had she said something wrong? Well, Alice didn't wish to be rude. Perhaps she could make amends by introducing herself.]

Oh ah, is that so? [Why he was upset, she wasn't sure.] Well, how do you do, sir? [Hopefully he would stop frowning.] Is... your room in this.... box? [She asked as she pressed the screen idly.]

[Another person! However did they fit into such a small space?]

Oh yes, miss! I've not ever seen anything like it before!

[Hugo's a general frowner, Alice, try not to take it too personally.]

No... my room is in one of the god houses. [His look shifts a bit to confusion when she calls him 'sir'.]

Did you just arrive here?

Hmm? Ah! Yes. Only a few days ago or so! [Oh right, the other gods someone mentioned.] If you aren't here and you aren't... in this window of sorts, how is it I can see you? [Magic?]

[Tilting his head he tries to think of a way to explain it]

The bracelet-

[Pause as he picks his words]

[Sorry, Hugo, 1865, there were no telephones in Alice's time.] A telephone? [Whatever was a telephone? She couldn't even think of a word that rhymed with it without making utter nonsense. Telephone... celephone, helephone... OH! Maybe it was like a metronome! It kept a rhythm?]

It certainly is an interesting way to communicate with others who are stuck here. Images are not the only thing it can do.

The bracelet is like that.

It can send words or just voices. You can send messages to a single person or the entire city. Also, it's best to have it on when you aren't in your assigned house otherwise you'll end up like those gray people wandering about.

[Alice knows what a train is, has ridden on one in fact, something she's very proud of since many of the other children in her class cannot really say the same. At the mention of a crystal ball she frowned a little herself. So it was magic then? What horribly strange magic! And it wasn't a ball at all in this case.]

And... everyone... people who have... color, they all have this... crystal ball like device? Curious indeed! And people aren't trapped inside of it? Well, all the better news then. I'm really very glad to know you aren't stuck inside.

It can write letters to people? Can it do it in my handwriting? I've very pretty cursive, you know. My teacher said so! I've much nicer handwriting than Agnes. She's all sorts of upset that she can't quite get her "z's" to stop looking like a silly "g!" Oh, but I shouldn't be too mean about it all. She gets upset when it's mentioned.
