Twelfth Catch -Video-

[The video comes on, and Finnick is reclining back on the couch, feet on the coffee table with a large bowl filled with sugar cubes in his lap. His finger fiddle with one of the cubes, rolling it back and forth between his thumb and pointer finger. A small grin spreads on his lips.]

I'm not that easy to get rid of. Did you think I was gone forever?

[He gives a cheeky little smile as he winks at the camera, popping a sugar cube into his mouth with a small crunch.]

So I guess there are lots of new people since I've been away, maybe someone would like to teach me how to cook? Can't let the girls do it all the time after all.

[He holds up a sugar cube, and closes one eye as if appraising the sugar cube before he tosses it in his mouth.]

So who is still here, and who went home? Anything interesting? Let me know. I'm always up for making new friends and trading information.

I have been grey for a bit, but that's not really important. But, it's been a while besides that since I've talked to you Morgana. How are you?

[ The mother of all questions. How is she, truly? Torn, uncertain, darker, older, more ruthless, more lonely. ]

[ a lie but an easy one. ]

How are you feeling, Finnick?

[His voice is amused.]

I'm okay. We are about to have someone move into our home with us.

[A pause and a beat.]

Hey do you know anything about cooking?

Myself? No. When I lived with the others in Thor, Mary would cook for us all. But she has gone home now, I fear.

[A teasing tone enters his voice.]

Don't tell me you haven't tried to cook for yourself Morgana. You seem like the type of woman to take the reigns.

I have little time for such. I eat but I do not cook for myself. Perhaps you should ask Merlin or Sir Lancelot, they seem to be more knowledgeable about these sort of things.

No, that won't do. I'm talking to you, aren't I? Besides I don't really know Lancelot, and I've never talked to Merlin before.

[He chuckles.]

What I mean is that you should learn to cook. With us I mean. Rue and I are looking for someone to teach us, and maybe that would be something you could do with us.

After all, it's good to pick up hobbies.

[ for a moment, she almost sounds startled. ]

No, I'm fine. I'm certain one of the others would care more for it. Princess Mithian tried to learn before she despaired of the devices.

[He is still teasing her obviously.]

I think it would be fun. Besides Rue could do with some more female friends. Annie would probably appreciate it too.

I'm afraid I would not be much of a company. You should my kindness and I will show you some in return by offer either Mithian or Gwen for such a task.

[Okay so now he knows something is up. He didn't know her well, but she didn't seem the type to turn down hanging with bitties.]

I don't trust just anyone with getting close to Rue you know. Neither would Annie or Katniss.

If you're busy, maybe you can make some time to hang out with us. Last time we had an outing we ended up painting buildings with pictures. It was very important you know.

And if the others of my realm know you were speaking to me of this, they would tell you not to trust me either.

[ her voice hardens, as if it would make him understand. ]

I left the house; there is no longer union in Camelot nor here. I live in Hel now, the others are still in Thor.

In Camelot, we will see each other dead, Finnick. Much has changed since you were missing.

[He listens. He should be worried he thinks, he should probably check on Arthur, but obviously he's talking with Morgana right now. He takes in a breath.]

Do you mind if I make my own mind up about you? Camelot is Camelot, and here is here. Otherwise I wouldn't be speaking to a beautiful woman right now, would I?

[He stays upbeat as he talks to her.]

Any man of Camelot would have called you a fool for trusting me.

[ and she really doesn't want him to turn from her too after he is warned and so she warns him in advance. ]

Yes, yes, I am a fool but not in the way they think. Honestly, unless you are planning to hurt Rue, which I doubt is possible with how utterly cute she is, then I think you're no harm to me or the others.

[He doesn't sound impressed.]

Besides, if you haven't been with your group for a while, why not come around mine? It's not like Katniss is going to bite. Well...She's stubborn but definitely won't bite.

[ can you hear the frown, Finnick? ]

How old is she, Rue?

[ knowing you, you either mean 'cute' as in a child or 'cute' as in a pretty girl. ]

I'm not sure, I never really asked her. After all, none of us really know much more than we need to about each other.

I want to say she is eight though? You've never talked to her on the network?

No, never.

[ but never mind that, she as an idea. ]

I will consider on one condition.

Okay, I am a married man Morgana and I don't think Annie will share me.

[He's obviously teasing her.]

I am flattered but my affections are alas, elsewhere. Annie can rest assured.

[ maybe she's amused. ]

There is another child in this city, Mordred. I wish to bring him with me. He needs to spend time with other children.

Oh! That would be really fun for Rue I think. In our world kids don't really get to play around much. They work just as hard as the adults, and in Rue's case, this is probably the only place she'll get to have that sort of fun.

Also, it's something that Katniss, Annie and I can't give her. Who am I to turn away another child? Especially if he needs to spend time having fun.

He is the same. I doubt he had time to enjoy the company of other children. Camelot makes children grow up far too fast.

[ an edge of bitterness but she offers, more quietly: ]

Sounds like Panem. You learn to keep your head down, not to attract attention and to work hard or you don't get to eat. I doubt any of us had a real childhood.

Well, it was easier in district 4 since we were closer to the capitol, but only because we had to know how to swim, catch fish and other sea creatures.

You never told me of Panem. District 4, is that where you lived?

[He sits back, sounds like it's going to be a long conversation.]

Yeah, Annie and I are from District 4, Katniss and Gale are from District 12, and Rue is from District 11.
