video; npc post - thor
[ He's settled quite comfortably in the corner of one of the city's cozy taverns, broadcasting a little smugly. Melting snow is still crusted on his hat and collar, but his clear glass tankard is already half empty. ]
I've heard more whining about the lights than anything else. 'The travelers will like them,' I heard. 'They're festive,' they said. Tchh. You'd think that most of you were blood sworn against having a little fun downtime between battles in a war.
[ And Thor signs off with a salute of his mug. ]

[ Drawling. ]
[ Blank. So blank. ]
I see it's smoothed your troubles enough you felt the need to share them then.
With a rejoinder right on his tongue, too, but --
His expression slips. ] ...
You're very human. All of you. [ It's quiet. Suddenly gently sober. ]
You've spoken to me for less than five minutes. Don't pretend to have made any deep or wise observations.
[ What is that? Oh. He's offended. ]
No, I haven't. But I remember you from the battle as well. [ The announcement, the boasting, the trolling of his friends (or not!friends) subsequently. Allen just -- well... he does try to hold his tongue. Keep his head down and focus on what he can actually do to help. ] Freyr and Freya, too. How badly she was grieving.
Maybe you're more powerful than us but you're very human, too.
Watch your tongue when speaking to a god, boy.
Being more powerful than everyone else doesn't make anyone a god. [ Unlike before, it's quiet. Stern, but almost --
... pitying. ]
No. But being a god of the realm does, actually, make you a god. It's sort of a thing, you know. We're deities. They worship us. Have you seen the little shrines?
Anything else?
So his expression curtains in a little annoyance, before it clears again. ]
She shouldn't bring him back. [ He recognizes that's bringing up something he shouldn't probably, but he doesn't care. When he'd gotten back from Utgard, that message from Freya had...
... it was distressing. ] I don't know how much any of you all talk amongst yourselves or maybe half of what's actually going on here. [ Curt yet gentle both. ] Or where we factor in exactly or how much maybe we're all in over our heads. [ He means them too, the "gods". Seeing Freya's pain and humanity would hammer that in more than anything. ] But...
...nothing good can come from that sort of thing.
[ Soft, heavy. ] But even so...
Despite that, how much we might sometimes hate that, it's nice having a little reminder of things. Even if it's just for a while.
So thank you for the lights.
His death does more damage to this land than you could imagine. We don't just live here, we are-
[ The tankard in his hand shatters. He growls again, before simply slapping the bracelet against the table to end the feed. ]
So over-dramatic.
[ FROWNING. ]
[God. The one time she actually might be on your side, and you have to go and frown and pout like a baby.
You're worse than Tyki.]
But it's nice to see you aren't always a big lumbering oaf.
[You know, getting so defensive about Freyr.]
