[Someone made a post about Christmas just as she was waking up, and it inspired her. So her face appears, flushed and sweaty but smiling gently, and behind her is Heimdall's kitchen table absolutely loaded with food. It looks like it should be groaning under the weight.]

Hi, everyone, it's Nakama again. Somebody mentioned that it's the holidays, and I wanted to make sure everyone got a gift, so I thought I'd make breakfast. Since there are a lot of people who don't know how to cook or use the appliances, this is a chance to have a nice meal... at least, I hope it's nice... anyway, it doesn't matter what house you're in, you can feel free to come to Heimdall House and have some. I'll be making more to replace what's gone, so please eat your fill.

((ooc: this is a post for everyone who doesn't have much going over the holidays, but has had some tag slowdown because of all the hiatuses, but anyone can tag in at any time of course. I hope so. [Perking up a little.] I met someone who could draw things and have them appear in real life, so that's how she made clothes without a sewing machine. I dunno if I'm good enough at drawing for that, but it'd sure be nice.

[Ah, that's better. It's easier for Naminé to smile after that, but she's quickly distracted by the mention of making drawings real.] Really? Did one of the gods give her that power? [It reminds her a bit of something she used to be able to do, and it's truly strange to think of other people being able to do what she could - and a little unsettling, given the implications.]

Yeah, I guess that's the power she got. It's a weird one, huh? [So totally unaware of her concern.] Do you know what yours is yet?

Mm. [Her train of thought threatens to take her far away from the conversation, but the question draws her back.] --Huh? Oh! Yes. It's... healing.

Oh wow. [She leans in a bit, really interested.] Like, proper healing. I've heard about that one... some of the people in Heimdall can take injuries away from others, but they take them on themselves. Absorb them, sort of.

I can just make other peoples' powers stronger, that's all.

[Naminé straightens, surprised by the interest.] I've heard of that one...! It sounds kind of... scary. [To be that person, anyway, and willingly take on injury like that. It's definitely not something for the faint of heart.] I'm glad that I got healing, instead.

That's a good power. You can help everyone else with it, and it would probably be easier to practice than the ones that-- need someone to be hurt. [Like hers, and the other Heimdall power. It still doesn't sit well with her that in order for her to practice, someone would have to be injured.]

I can see why you would do it... I would do it for some people. But it is better if you can just heal them.

[She ponders her power for a moment - she's still not really sure about it.] Yeah, it's good to be able to power other people up, but... I can't really help people... specifically? I don't know.

Mm. My thoughts exactly. I guess... maybe someone could use it so that the other person doesn't have to suffer. If they were to just heal them, the person would still have to be in pain while they were healed.

You can help people help themselves, or each other. [And that's nothing to be ashamed of.] Like... if I were trying to heal someone, you could help me do that. [She smiles a wry little smile.] I'd probably need all the help I could get. I haven't done much healing yet.

That's good, though, because it means not many people have been hurt. So many people come in yelling and threatening, I keep waiting for something terrible to happen. But it's been mostly calm so far.

You're right. I'm relieved that it's been like this. I just... wonder what would happen if someone did get hurt. I wouldn't know what to do.

If it's like mine, you just concentrate really hard. I didn't even mean to do it - it just happened.

Really? That sounds easier than I thought. [She's been wishing she'd paid more attention to those memories of Cure spells; it's not the same thing, but it probably would have helped.]

You can ask people in your house, too. It seems like a nice house, so people probably wouldn't mind.

I could...! You're right, everyone's seemed nice so far. I wonder if all of the houses are like that. [...Well, no, she takes that back.] ...Nevermind. I know they're not. [Considering she knows there's at least one not-so-pleasant person in the city.]

[Nakama's expression darkens.] There are some terrible people here. But they're not the majority.

No, they're not. [That comment, though, makes her eye Nakama carefully.] ...Have you met any of those terrible people?

There was this... this person. [It was over text, so she didn't know much about them.] They were asking about death, and treating it like it was all some sort of joke. So I told them that all of my friends were going to die, and... they just laughed, and made fun of me for being upset. They said it was weakness, and that being cruel to people made them stronger.

[Angry now.] It was just another bully. I'm used to bullies. But saying things like that about people dying... that's disgusting.

--.... [She remembers that post on the network. She didn't answer it, and now she's glad she didn't.] That's horrible! How could they--...? [Ah, but that's something she already knows the answer to, too, and it shows in her frown.]

[She nods, recognising that look.] I think everyone's known someone like that. Someone who doesn't value or respect life the way they should. There was one at home, too. I just - after meeting so many kind people, it was a shock here.

I'm sure it was. I've gotten used to it, too. [The frown doesn't go away.] But before I came here, I met a lot of people who... didn't care about other people's lives. I just-- it's hard to imagine being like that.

[That's the first thing Namine has told her about home, and it doesn't bode well for the rest of the story. She unconsciously slides forward on her chair a little, inching a bit closer.]

It's hard to be around, too, isn't it?

...Mm. [Her eyes drift downward, her mouth tightening a little. It's hard to be around, and hard to watch, and she thinks of how easily Vexen had cast his project, the replica that had in a sense been his child, to the wolves, how unhesitating an assassin Axel had been for all his claims that he hadn't wanted to do it, how many people the Organization had set the Heartless upon in the name of reclaiming their own hearts.] It is.

[Nakama has her own memories: Kodama, first cooking a crab inside its own shell with a firecracker for fun, then trampling civilians with Zearth and claiming that it was fine because he was saving the world; a bit of collateral damage meant nothing. Enjoying it all the while, thriving on the power. She's lost inside them for a moment, trapped in the horror.]

[It seems they both are, but Naminé realizes after a while that it's been quiet too long and shakes her head to clear it, then looks up.] ...Nakama?

[She jumps and shakes her own head, for the same reason - that idea that you can shake a thought loose crosses many boundaries. Then she sighs.]

I wish I could change everyone's mind, but... that might be too much, even for me. Maybe you really do just have to learn to live with bad people.
