We've seen one, at least. Whether or not there are more is something we'll have to discover for ourselves... Hopefully not in the hard way.

I hope not either, in the storybooks I read as a little girl, dragons were usually depicted as fearsome beasts that could breathe fire.

However, I've heard that in the East they are seen as deities and some use their powers to help the humans.

[histories]

Ah, indeed so. In this case, the dragon we had faced more than two months ago certain fits that description. Perhaps it might be different to some extent, however, seeing as this dragon had spoken when it was here.

And you are indeed correct on that account as well, but you must understand that us Easterners have this belief that there are gods in many things, especially in that which we did not understand. As technology and understanding of the world around us advanced, we also came to understand that there was nothing 'godly' about these things whatsoever.

[pastahair]

Really? I've never heard of dragons that possessed human speech before.

I do understand, it was the same in Europe as the Dark Ages began to end. Before, most people would use God to explain what they could not understand.

[histories]

Yes, that's right. Still, there were those that were in human form, back home, so perhaps I had expected something like that to be possible... [probably.]

Precisely. It gives people a sense of security, that way.

[pastahair]

Dragons taking on the shape of humans? You definitely don't see that with the dragons in Western stories.

[histories]

Ah, yes. Perhaps that's just the difference between each of our cultures.

[pastahair]

That's right. One of my best friends is Japanese, so he told me a few things about the culture. To my surprise, he's also read many Western books, so he has a rather extensive knowledge on that culture as well.

[histories]

It's fascinating, isn't it? To learn of these differences?

[pastahair]

Very. I just wish I was able to see more of Japan before coming here.
