[She paused on the video before speaking, looking uncommonly serious for someone usually so full of laughter, drawing a slow breath in. Trying to find words that were... discreet, not completely applicable to her. She was, at times, capable of such things.
There has been just the one thing on her mind, for all she was trying to remake her friendship with Bess. A quiet niggling, but it was more then that, it was a deep seated anxiety, and for once, it showed. Before it had been a case of out of sight, out of mind. But now? Now it was different.]
Tell me... has anyone every had someone appear that they... they came from the same place, so to speak? And... if they were bound in some way...
[she chewed on her lip for a second.]
... would you still be expected to honour that bond? Even in your heart you did not want to, and you were loathe to be in that persons presence even a little?
[she didn't hate her husband, necessarily, but she knew, it was a mistake for her to ever be around him. Nor could she forgive him, and she was just starting to enjoy herself here.]

Try me. I've been in the ton for a long time, sir or madam. Subsequently, I know a great many males of the peerage, born to the highest of houses, but sadly, not very many true gentlemen.
private anon text;
If a true gentleman exists, chances are he's a dull blighter with no personality.
[He sends that, and then a few moments later, he sends the following:]
You've probably gathered by now that I am not a true gentleman. Can't tolerate the man? Why honour anything?
video; private
Very true. Perhaps that is why I do not know very many, I like to be entertained. Still, I've seen bad men do good things, and scheming men throw it all away for simple joys. [a shrug, and she tries not to think too much about Grey.]
No, but that doesn't bother me, as you may have also worked out. [Another pause in her reply, and her voice is quiet.] I'm a woman, he will just take my children away from me and I will never see them again if I left him.
private anon text;
Oh well.]
No chance he's grown tired of raising 'em, eh?
video ; private
But at his words, she snorts, amused in the wrong way clearly.] How often do you suppose a Duke gives up raising his heir and other children?
private anon text;
Oh, perhaps one out of every fifty. Perhaps your Duke is that black sheep. I wouldn't place bets on it, but they're not bad odds, depending on how you look at it.
video ; private
Oh, I think not. Doesn't a good gambler look at previous history as well as the current odds? Suffice to say my Duke of a husband hasn't given me any hope to that end.
private anon text;
Any of those more likely?

... But right now, she starts laughing instead, louder then she meant to.]
Oh that's awful, my mysterious sir, that's truly awful. [she pressed her hand over her mouth, trying to stop the escaping giggles.] No, my husband is much too stubborn for that. Even if it was tried, he'd probably live just to spite me.
private anon text;
Never you worry, Little Friend of the World. No man is too stubborn to die if you know how to go about doing it.
Perhaps, if you prefer something less messy, we'll just remain hopeful that he chokes on his supper. Simple enough, eh? Though, has this Duke actually arrived, or are you being pessimistic?
video ; private
Oh dear and now they seem to have terrible nicknames for each other.]
I'll take your word for it. Can't say I've ever been in the business. But choking on his supper sound suitable.
Merely pessimistic, much to my happiness. A friend of mine recently appeared in this place, and it got me to thinking.
private anon text;
But I suppose that without him here, all we can do is go the route of hoping he chokes on his supper.
video ; private
Shall you hope with me then, sir? [she gives him a rather timid smile for her.]
private anon text;
I will, however, hope with you. Your Duke sounds like a right tosser.

[she snorts.] He does have his good points, but they are sadly lost on me by this point. He at least I know, will look after our children.

She reappears after a minute, hand over the mouth, still giggling.]
Oh, dear, yes that... that would be a shock.
