[She paused on the video before speaking, looking uncommonly serious for someone usually so full of laughter, drawing a slow breath in. Trying to find words that were... discreet, not completely applicable to her. She was, at times, capable of such things.

There has been just the one thing on her mind, for all she was trying to remake her friendship with Bess. A quiet niggling, but it was more then that, it was a deep seated anxiety, and for once, it showed. Before it had been a case of out of sight, out of mind. But now? Now it was different.]

Tell me... has anyone every had someone appear that they... they came from the same place, so to speak? And... if they were bound in some way...

[she chewed on her lip for a second.]

... would you still be expected to honour that bond? Even in your heart you did not want to, and you were loathe to be in that persons presence even a little? 

[she didn't hate her husband, necessarily, but she knew, it was a mistake for her to ever be around him. Nor could she forgive him, and she was just starting to enjoy herself here.]

[The person responding was not necessarily the best person to listen to advice from, if the good Miss Cavendish wished to be political about this. Samantha's attitudes on social interactions could be draconic at times, especially if she really really didn't like someone.]

If you don't like them, why stay around them? They try to force the issue, claw their flipping face off. There's no reason you, or anyone for that matter, needs to feel 'bound' to be with anyone. That sort of archaic bullshit should have ended centuries ago.

And if you're from centuries ago, consider this my suggestion to put the past behind you and try something else. Like clawing their face off if they bother you too much. It's very therapeutic.

[She doesn't... really know how to respond to that. Just... frowned taken back. Her husband after all, was physically stronger then she ever would be, that had been proven very succinctly -- if she had had the option to claw his face off when he forced himself on her, she would of.

So the advice is just a little bitter to hear.]

No it's quite alright to ramble, I do it myself upon occasion.

I too have had someone arrive, but she's pleasant and familiar company. [and that was all she really could say for the moment.]

I don't think you're a coward at all, and it does depend on circumstances. I had not thought maybe I was supposed to be strong to them, and take back what's mine... [It's almost out of habit that she's coaxing him, like she did with her children. But then that was what she did.] ... I rather like that notion.

[Well that was a very direct question, she almost does her usual habit of giving a vague not answer to it, but then she did ask for advice. She only had to say as much as she was comfortable with, in the end.]

That would depend on the circumstances of the bond. Some would argue that there is no need to fulfill or uphold prior relationships upon the arrival into this land.

To even ask makes it seem as though the decision to submit to the prior bond has already been made.

I would be. If someone from back home showed up—but... I think it's kinda a different bond than most people have.
