Um, hi everyone...

[This is far from the strident, angry voice that spoke last time she was on the network. Nakama sounds nervous, almost fearful, and there are bright spots of red on each cheek as she speaks.]

So, um, some of my friends know that I wanted to get into designing more seriously, and I've been working on some sketches, but I finally found one that looked okay and decided to give it a try.

[She sets the bracelet down on her desk and backs up, revealing a dark pink dress which she's paired with a single string of pearls for the sake of display.]

What do you think? Does it look alright? Rarity, Kanaya, I'd especially like to hear from you, but anyone else who can suggest any improvements or anything is more than welcome. I need constructive criticism to get better, right?

Thanks. [A bashful smile.] It's so great having my own sewing machine again.

Already getting used to using it?

Yeah... it's a way older model than the one I had at home, but a sewing machine's a sewing machine. I don't have too much trouble with it.

I wouldn't know anything about sewing machines being sewing machines or not, but it sounds good for you.

I got it just in time, too, because we're short a few machines at the tailor shop. Some of them were ruined by the flood, and we couldn't afford to replace them all. So I bring work home sometimes, just to keep us caught up.

You're not working too hard, are you?

I'm not pulling all-nighters anymore, if that's what you mean. I've learned how to pace myself a little better.

[A little.]

You better be pacing yourself!

[ Or else. ]

Trust me, there are other people who'd have my head if they saw me with bags under my eyes, too. [A little laugh.]

How intense of them.

[ He's glad to hear it, though. ]

People are protective of me. I don't know why... I can mostly take care of myself, especially now that I've got so much self-defense training. But people want to take care of me. [A little blush. It's nice, but it can get stifling.]

That's how people are, when they care about someone.

[ Or how they should be. ]

I guess I'm just not used to it yet. Even my mom was pretty laid-back about what I did, as long as it wasn't dangerous. And she knew I wouldn't do anything dangerous anyway.

Mm...but you'd be too nice to tell people to leave you alone, too.

Oh, I don't know. [A wry smile.] I've fought back when I felt like what I had to do was important. Like during some of the attacks... people told me to stay inside, but I had to get to the healers and help out, so I wouldn't let them chase me off.

So until they worry as hard as you work, that's fine?

[ Lightly teasing. ]

I don't mean to worry anyone. [She catches the teasing, but this is said in deadly earnest.] There are just some things I have to do. For my own self-respect, you know?

That's mature of you.

Well, thank you. It's just how I am. I've learned to let people help sometimes, but I won't stop. Whatever the endgame is here, I'll be a part of it.

[ He...doesn't even know if he'd be. ]
