How many of you knew of an "Asgard" before arriving here? Be it a place, a land, a person, a book, an animal race or something else. Fictional or real both apply.

To rephrase: Did the word "Asgard" exist and mean anything in your world, and if yes, what? Or did you encounter it first after being drafted to this place?

You are correct about that. Mutant was a term created to describe an 'other', and was in no way meant to be friendly. Mankind has always feared what it doesn't understand, and fear always, eventually, turns into hatred.

And hatred makes the minds of human fragile and will be used.

This place seems to be surprisingly free of it so far. [Not perfectly free, but freer than a lot of other places. He wonders if that has to do with no real groups having formed yet - the God houses imply groups, but none of the travellers seem to really stick with those enforced labelings.]

Never underestimate the power of fear. It may not seem obvious now, but that says nothing about its presence.

[Maybe they just need the right push.]

It is a rather unusual group of people. [Few ...normal persons, so to speak. At least most of those that Bran has talked to so far seemed to be some kind of special, different from what a "normal human" would be considered. That does not mean that they cannot know fear and hatred, but it might lead to unusual results.]

And a lot of those that are not above a human mind wield powers now that surpass that.

[That is very true. Erik has not had the chance to really get to know the extent by which the selection of travelers here are special. He's spoken to only a select few. So unusual is a very accurate term.]

Fear is not restricted to a certain kind of person. But the real question resides in how will a once normal person react to powers that are anything but?

Certainly not exactly the same as the next person. [One person might use it, one might not; one might create good, one bad things; one might learn to handle it, one might not; and so on, and everything in between.]

We will just have to wait and see.

[Because even if there is no 'normal' or 'average' quite yet, there will still be those who see themselves above the rest.]

Out of curiosity, what is your assigned House?

[You can't see him frown, or how unhappy he is overall, since this is a text. But just...know.]

Loki. Why?

I was talking with someone about how the Houses were assigned recently.

[He pulls the other conversation up and copies the text in question.] "I've only noticed that most people in Sigyn are gentle, most in Heimdall are really helpful, and Thor people tend to be fighters." There is the assumption that we are assigned based on personality. [He just lets it sit there and waits for a reaction. He has his own thoughts, but he would be interested in this other person's without that filter.]

That would make the most sense - unless the Gods just randomly assigned the housing. Which would seem inefficient, and not probable if the observations you've made are true.

[The only issue with that would be that he does not believe himself to be in the right house. He's no trickster.]

If it is, I wonder what Loki's criteria are. And how strongly they are based on his own personality. [Implying that the possibility of the traits not completely matching with the god is something that he considers absolutely possible.

Since he does not consider himself a trickster, either, and that seems to be one of the few things that all traditional and less traditional versions of him seem to agree on.]

That is an interesting question, especially since it seems the criteria are not as static as you might originally assume. Though I guess it may also depend on who this particular Loki seems to be. Many different stories depict him in many different ways, so it is completely possible that this Loki, as well as any of the other Gods, is not the same as we know from ancient lore.

What makes it especially interesting is that those criteria seem to be more important to the "gods" than fairness in numbers. [Considering how some houses seem like bee hives and some have barely enough people to fill two stories.]

You know, that is one observation I had not yet made. But it does leave room for questions - if the gods wanted us to be divided, why keep uneven numbers? It seems counter productive.

Our own house seems to have only half the numbers of Heimdall, though those two seem to be at the very ends of the spectrum. Freya seems to be large as well. ...I would say that Sigyn falls in there too, which, considering that Freya as a goddess probably has a female image which probably puts it on the friendly, life bringing side, means that all the large houses have a strongly positive image.

And the smaller houses carry the more negative image. Now that sounds like they're setting the smaller houses up for failure, does it not?

Assuming that strenght lies in numbers.

[Which is likely, but not necessary. After all some abilities seem to be a lot more useful in battle than others, so who knows what any reasons for anything are?]

That tends to be the case in most situations. At least to certain extents and depending entirely on how large the numbers are.

I wonder why the "gods" with the smaller houses let that happen, considering that they seem to have rather competitive moments.

Makes you wonder if the "gods" have complete control over who goes into what house.

...Or if all of them do, or only a fraction.

All are possible, but no less concerning.
