But anyone in the area may notice the trail of blonde hair leading from somewhere in the middle of the park up into one of the tallest trees where Rapunzel is sitting, relishing her surroundings and hiding at once. ]

[ And then the brilliant speech segues into a faint half-smile, a smile that eventually freezes as something occurs to her and, feigning bravery, she narrows her eyes, scowling to say loftily: ] But if anyone finds him and doesn't give him back? Or - Or they try and hurt him? I. Will hurt you. Because uh - I have a frying pan? And I am so not afraid to use it.

Who? [ It's only the distraction of her thoughts that keeps her from wincing at her tone - foreign in the raw, almost harsh desperation of it. She doesn't want to know, and she hopes Euri in the end won't tell her. But although she's just met this girl she knows this is a hope that will not be fulfilled. Not with what she's just been told. ]

I'll — I can handle Diva. No matter what she's done I - ... I will not hide from her. And I won't hate her. Even if she's a thug? She is still a person. No matter what she does or is, she still has feelings and dreams and denying that is just an excuse so you'll feel better hurting her.

I know she won't hurt me. [ Explaining why, however, is something she's promised not to do, so she just nods, feeling her strength returning. ] And I won't hurt her. I - I have a right to choose how to feel and what to do about it right? I'll handle her in...my own way.

I don't know their identity, actually. [She's not going to leave that statement hanging, fortunately.] Someone I know was ambushed recently, and he didn't get a look at who did it. The person left a text message on the bracelets, too, talking about how "anomalies should be erased." I don't know what that means but it can't be good.

[That's rather compassionate. Though in Euri's mind it sounds more ignorant to her.... Johan seemed pretty indifferent to being warned, too. And even Kaz wasn't really listening to her until recently.

... For a split second she's wondering why she's even bothering trying to help.]

[Her tone is growing somber.]

I'm not denying anything. I just don't care. How could I feel anything aside from hate towards a monster who's hurt someone important to me?

Anyway, it sounds to me like you're just trying to justify something. If you want to go ahead and befriend a sadistic murderer, then go ahead. It'll just hit even harder when she hurts you or your friends - and trust me, she will. [She did so with Kaz, after all.]

[ She doesn't know what "sadistic" means and almost asks because it seems like a great avenue for discourse on something better than this, better than this conversation that's tying her stomach in knots and making her ill. There's still the lingering surprise at her responses: she hadn't realized how much she'd meant the words until they were out of her mouth and now there's little for it, because taking them back wouldn't change things. Even if part of her wants to.

But mostly she just wants to go home.

Compromising, Rapunzel nods and pulls her legs a little closer to her chest. ] I understand. [ And then, for no other reason than that she is who she is despite how she feels - a smile. ] Thank you, Euri. For everything.

[That's not the kind of reaction Euri was expecting. Being thanked isn't something she's particularly used to, and especially not when it didn't even sound as if the other person was going to take her seriously.

She's quiet for a few moments, annoyed and frustrated and a little hopeful.]
