Urm. I can't say I really have experience with dying myself. Just a lot of deaths experienced vicariously, but

I dunno, I'm more familiar with the whole death and what happens after than a lot of people are where I'm from so the idea of people just being able to come back because the gods say so is really weird. Cheapening, I guess? And people don't usually ever come back entirely when they do, because dying takes away a little bit of you always, but maybe that doesn't apply here too

I guess I'm trying to say that even if people can come back, they shouldn't have let people die like that because it's not as if it's going to take away the feeling of dying to begin with.

It simply allows for death to be used as another punishment without permanent consequences. It's no less serious an event for the individual who suffers it, but it can be done to them again and again.

Death isn't fun. I've never done it, but by all accounts it's messy, painful and it's pretty traumatizing. Plus when you're gone, so's everything you know - here, that'd be everything we learned about the enemies, the lay of the land, how to control these powers they gave us.

So they make it so they don't go losing troops whenever someone's outclassed in a fight, and they make their failures into a learning experiences. Nothing teaches you not to get shot like getting shot, after all.
