[The Travelers get a good view of Merlin's room when the video starts and--hang on, what's...that? No, your eyes do not deceive you. Where there was only one grumpy owl before, there are now about ten of varying sizes, perched all around the room. A few ruffle their feathers, as if in greeting. Despite the feathery chaos behind him, Merlin seems to be perfectly fine, and isn't paying them any attention at all.]

I think, between the dragon, the ice faeries, and the stabbings, the city's gotten pretty dangerous recently. I don't know how getting hurt by a good friend or family member fits into all this, but the ice faeries weren't that much of a surprise, if you think about what Odin told us. [Here, he picks up a sheet of paper and glances at it before continuing.] There's Muspellheim with the fire king Surt--he's the one who sent the dragon--and there's Thrymheim with the frost queen Thiazi. We didn't get a declaration of war from the queen like with the dragon, but the ice faeries are probably close enough.

Between all that's happened, it looks like everyone's going to be affected. I mean, they weren't exactly choosy about the people they were targeting. You think it'd be a good idea if we built some sort of fort for the people who don't want to fight? People usually go to the hospital for shelter, but we've gotten overwhelmed there nearly every single time something happens. There's just too many of us here now.

[Merlin frowns down at the paper again.] Oh yeah, there's a few of us who would teach newcomers how to use their abilities, in case any of you need it. More people willing to help us with that would be great--just the god's abilities, though. If you want lessons for weapon-use, you'll be wanting to see Arthur Pendragon for that. Or Albion--er...England, I mean. I think they're looking for some help with The Citadel, too.


Private to Sam Winchester:
Hey, Odin mentioned another city--Utgard. It looks like the natives are allowed to go there, but none of us are. Know anything about it?

When did you want to meet again?

[Leon watches Merlin's newest video and takes some time pondering it before he comes to find him in his room. He looks around with a look of consternation before he speaks. That really is a frightening number of owls, Merlin.]

A place of safety for those unable to fight would be useful, I think. Has there been any clue as to when the enemy may attack next?

[Merlin sets the bracelet down with a sigh, and a smile for Leon.]

Not really. Odin--that's the leader of the gods--said that we'd be going to war with the two cities, but we didn't get any warning when the ice faeries attacked.

...they're not really helpful.

[Lucifer is totally absorbing all of the information from that main post, Merlin, you have no idea. Some of it he's heard from others, but what's most useful about that is how Merlin himself is interpreting and handling the world. From that, Lucifer can extrapolate how other people are reacting and interacting as well as identify the formation of groups and relationships.]

[But, onto the actual message directed at him. Lucifer tilts his head slightly, looking friendly.]

What do you mean? [Read: How is this relevant to anything I just said, sire??] I haven't done anything!

What're your ears for if you ain't gonna use 'em? 'Cause I'm damn well sure Cas covered the stabbings.

[He knows you talked to Cas right after the angel made an announcement about the current happenings, but he'll repeat anyway.]

The gods are givin' us a clear message about what happens if we listen to 'em or not. Falls right in line with our "purpose" here, don't it?

'Course everyone's gonna be affected. They ain't gonna waste their efforts draggin' us here.

Oy! [Merlin's hands fly to his ears for a beat, then drop as he scowls.]

I remember that. It just...doesn't make sense.

[He's not disregarding Cas' theory, but there's too much left unexplained.]

A lot of the Travelers nearly died from the stab wounds. Why go through all the trouble of bringing us here and then killing us before we help their city? Then, if Odin was really trying to make us fight by telling us our worlds are in danger, he's not doing a very good job by making loved ones from home attack us.

It would be better if we can just fortify the whole city in the first place. While the gates seem sturdy enough, it is quite telling just how vulnerable the structure is by how easily they can even be invaded by foreign parties.

It'll at least accomplish the goal of protecting those who don't wish to fight either, a~n.

Maybe. [He'd thought about the gates, too, but making changes there isn't as easy as one would hope.]

I don't think the natives like us going near the wall, though. They turn people away if you try to leave through the open gate.

Is there any way to find out what your power is if you...sort of missed the chance to find out with the maid?

I dunno if we can find out right away, but we can narrow it down, at least.

Yeah? [Hey, it's a familiar face he's seen around Sigyn.] I'm a healer, too, but it'd be great to have someone else around. I'm working at the hospital and helping Arthur with The Citadel, so I'm not always around, you know?

Yeah, that's what I'm afraid of. The real fighting hasn't even started yet.

If you listened really closely to the frost faeries there was a kind of -- a murmuring sound wherever they went. It was hard to make out individual words but the hostility and intent was clear -- definitely a declaration of war.

Um -- I'm supposed to be in hospital a few more days yet, but after that I'm up for teaching body control!

Really? I didn't notice any sounds when Arthur and the others were fending them off.

[And then he's smiling.] That's great, Conan. Just don't push yourself too hard, all right?

Well...we're all sort of fending for ourselves, aren't we? It isn't as if the gods are teaching us how to use the powers they've given us.

[He pauses, tapping a finger against the desk.] Everyone's got their own way of doing things, so I thought maybe...if we could guide people through it...

The giants? I remember Odin saying something about the queen and the king from the other two cities being frost and fire giants, but what does that mean?

[Her attention was caught by the army of owls in Merlin's room. She couldn't help notice they weren't in cages.

A curious tilt of her head as she began to think to herself, I wonder. How did he...? Her gaze returns to the other shortly, curiousity easily seen through her eyes. Well, there's no use in keeping it to myself, so...]

You have a lot of owls with you. Did you catch them all? Or were they a gift from the gods? You don't seem hurt unlike the others. I've noticed those who weren't targetted received a gift instead, so...

[Can you tell she is acting rather shy around him? Well, she is trying to seem more friendly because he seems to keep catching her whenever she is in the worst mood.]

Er...no. The item I got from home was something else.

[He smiles crookedly.] There was an owl I'd sort of picked up before all this happened--one of the grey ones around the park. I think he made a few friends and brought them home.

Sounds like a good idea. Glad to see some organizing getting done.

I know a few things about fighting, so I'd be willing to help with either teaching, or defending those who can't fight.

I'd been wondering about those who can't defend themselves.

If there's any way I can help, I do have some experience with weapons as well.

Makes you wonder why the gods gave everyone different abilities like this. Healing makes sense, but some others are difficult to use in battle.

An alternative to the hospital would be a good idea. The staff there are just too overwhelmed to handle the new population numbers.

I've got a bit of experience with my ability here, and it seems to be stronger than some people I know. I... could advise people on it, I guess.
