[Where else was Samantha ever present in these things than when she was in her lab? It would have been a rare sight to see her anywhere else on the network. Something was bubbling in the background and an old, weathered stone statue stood in the corner looking stolid.
She grunted and looked down at some notes before glancing at the feed.]
It's been a few weeks. There's going to be a reprisal. Either from what's left of her forces if they can muster it, or Surt's going to come after us. His lot's been itching for a fight.
So, I guess the cat's a little 'out of the bag' now about some of the things I've been up to. Good. [She coughed once.] If anyone needs me for that sort of thing, give me a call, but in the meantime, I'm just going to be an eternal kill joy and get right back to work.
Poultices still need to be made. We've got supplies ready, but just in case he comes to Asgard itself, I want a plan of action. If the fight's here, we don't need to split our healer teams up like we did last month. I'm open to working with anyone who feels up to defending folks that isn't in the military in helping make sure the medics stay safe during a fight. If they go down, we could end up sunk.
So, right then. Give me a call if you want in on the fun. [Yeah, someone thought of potions as fun. She really needed to get out more.]

[Click. And sure enough, he does indeed show up not much later.]
How's it goin'?

[She's at the front of the shop, expecting him when he comes in, the smells of sulfur and garlic mixing with sage. Making a motion over to the counter, there's a stool on one end and some supplies. The scent of tea brewing can be caught, just barely, under all the ambient smells.]
Figured I'd set up out here for a change. Folks might be showing up after all.
no subject
That'd be fun! Anyone else respond so far?

[She shrugged and motioned to the batch of brilliant orange and red flower blooms, along with the mortar and pestle.]
This one's simple. Grind and mix in the liquid, smear a little on the bandage on one side, and it will finish soaking in on its own. We can talk plenty while we work.

[A salute, and he's gone. For a few minutes, anyway.
Once he's back, he immediately goes to work.]
So, had any excitin' adventures lately?

[She snickered at him and took her own quantity, grinding up the petals and bud into the pestle.]

[It was certainly an experience, actually being able to die.]
What was it like when it all went down?
no subject
[ahem]
Fast paced and lots of little things went wrong right up to the end, but the pieces all fell into place. She didn't die well. I don't think she ever realized that it could happen in the first place.
no subject
That's usually how the proud fall, isn't it? Not expectin' it at all.
[He's heard a similar story before...]

From her point of view, she was an absolute. Fate said all these things would happen, and seein' as it'd gone that way up until now, she believed it.
There wasn't any way she could've seen it comin'.
no subject
Doesn't mean you can't die, though. Nothing's truly immortal.
no subject
You've got all these powerful ancient people goin' around forgettin' they can die, even though that's sorta the point of it all. [She was trying to bring about the end to all things, after all. Although really...
It may be his own bias, knowing how the original Devil met his end.]
no subject
No, you're right. If she hadn't hurt people I like, it would be damned close to hilarious. Gods... they're the worst about forgetting that they can die. Even if they have themselves wrapped up around fate, they pretend that nothing can truly harm them.
There's an irony in being a god. Personally, screw that. I'd never want to deal with the bs. Better to be a mortal, forgotten.
no subject
I gotta agree, though. Bein' a god doesn't sound worth it in the long run to me.
[Devil he may be, but judging by the convoluted plan a certain other God had put into place just to ensure his own death, it's a shared sentiment between the two. Being at the very top isn't all it's cracked up to be.]
Hey, does this look ground up right to you?
