[ ooc; this post can also be used for finding river in person as she's posting flyers of this exact same post around the city! ]

I'm clever, but not that clever. The first documented was either 1881 or 1862, depending on whether or not you think Abraham Lincoln was the sort for winking. There are a lot of them now.
[ she taps her bracelet to activate a text box and types out a particularly fun one to show him: (=´∀`)人(´∀`=) ]

Are you telling me that the president of the United States wrote like this?
[He gestures to the one she's showing him]
And what're those?

These are the heads.
[ she gestures to hers and his, tracing the same circular shape around their cheeks, then points back to the emote. ] The eyes, and the mouth. [ a big ol' cheesy grin to imitate the excitement, and then she looks back at the emote and scrunches her nose. ]
And this one is, um. It's - go like this?
[ she holds up her empty hand and blinks up at him, expecting him to copy the position. she'd've positioned him herself if one hand wasn't full of Very Important flyers, so he can count himself lucky on that one. ]

When she's looking at him expectantly it takes a moment for him to figure out what she's waiting for. His lips press together, turning thin a moment before he raises his hand in a rigid motion.]
Like this?

Perfect.
[ and high fives him without warning, gentle but enthusiastic nonetheless. that's it, that's the emote. ]
President Lincoln allegedly cued applause and laughter in his speech with a winky face. It's still a scholarly debate even seven hundred years later, but I like to think he had a sense of humor. Have you seen his hat?
[ master of segues and firm logic. it's lovely to meet you, new friend! ]

Nothing wrong with a good 'at.
[Thomas tilts his head and reaches up to adjust his flatcap with an air of teasing.]
Don't scholars have anything better to do with their time?
no subject
Some. Others could do with more debating inanity. People are always going to cause a fuss.

You want 'elp with those? Looks like a lot.

I printed as many as the store would let me. My suitemate is probably distressed; the bathroom is a little weird right now.

Where d'you live?
[He feathers the papers a bit to give them a quick once over.]
Which 'ouse?
no subject
The Allfather's. It's gold.

We're in the same one then.

[ she marvels at him yet again. there aren't many of them around and she doesn't spend that much time at the welcome hall, so it's a rare and exciting thing to meet another of odin's lot! ]

[He hangs a flyer on a wall nearby]
Which room is yours?

[ said absently as she tries to mimic his placement of the flyer with her own. ]

The one near 107?
