It has come to my attention that in light of recent events, we have had little enough time to ourselves. Naturally, this is only to be expected in a time of war. However, we must not lose sight of ourselves in the midst of all this havoc, and I therefore have a proposal for the women of Asgard.

Would anyone, perhaps, be interested in joining me for an evening of light entertainment? We have precious little time before everything comes crashing down around our ears, and I wish to attempt to use some of that time to get to know my fellow ladies-in-arms a bit more.

Indeed. I thought that ought to cover the range of activities one might do.

Wait, so- what exactly are we talking? Video games, cards?

[Stolen liquor? Maybe people don't hang out the way she and Riley used to.]

... What are video games? Are they something from your world?

Yeah, it's like a game you play on a TV or an arcade. Mostly arcades. I didn't have any working ones back in Boston, but here they're all over.

That does sound rather interesting. What precisely does it do?

Uh, they're all different stuff, but I like the fighting ones best. You have this character on the screen, and you push buttons in different ways to make them unleash devastating combo attacks-

[And then she's gone, describing Heavenly Lifts and finishing moves that end up with the opponent's spine severed, head kicked across the room-]

My, how violent.

[But interesting. Very, very interesting...]

Would you, perhaps, be willing to show me?

You wanna? We can meet up before the other stuff if you want, play a few rounds.

[A chuckle.]

I would simply love to, Ellie.

... really?

I mean, sure, let's do it! I've- got the money, I guess, I'll meet up with you over in Baldr?

[Insert some directions here. She seems happy, but as if she didn't expect this.]

Well, naturally. I must admit, I have found myself to be quite curious regarding other worlds.

Very well, Ellie. What time?

Whenever. I'm heading over there for a while anyway. Head on over when you're ready to get your butt handed to you.

I do believe my hips are firmly attached to the rest of me, darling.

I shall be there shortly.

Darling?

[It's hard to hear, but that's all there is before she hangs up.

A little later, Ellie can be found in the back of the arcade, trying to put exactly the perfect spin on the ski-ball to get it into the center hole. She's got it centered, but the right amount of strength seemed to elude her.]

[Maribelle comes into the arcade, looking about herself in fascination at the unfamiliar means of amusement. It takes her a little to find Ellie, due to Maribelle getting side-tracked by watching some other people play the games.]

Goodness, what's this?

[Grinning, Ellie turns around, the smooth wooden ball in her hand. In person she seems... smaller, somehow. Her personality is so much bigger than her actual body. She could probably pass for twelve, in the right clothes, and she's wearing the right clothes.

Jeans, a long-sleeved t-shirt, flat sensible boots. A lump shows in the small of her back, another in her pocket. Weapons, if Mari cares to look.

She holds out the ball. It's much heavier than it looks, solid.]

Ski-ball. Try to roll it, get it in the baskets. Go on, give it a shot.

[Ellie's stature does not go unnoticed by Maribelle, naturally - although the older girl does refrain from saying anything about it. Instead, she delicately removes her gloves and takes the ball in her hands.]

Very well.

[So she tries... and fails. Miserably.]

Drat!

Drat?

[Ellie starts laughing, but gets behind her, picking up another ball.]

Here, try to let it roll off your fingers. You have to give it a little heft, so it pops up at the end of the lane.

[She shows Mari the arm motion, then hands her the ball again.]

Here, try again.

Yes. Drat.

[But she laughs, too, and watches Ellie's movements before trying again. This one is... a little better, at least.]

My, but this is harder than it looks.

[Grinning now, Ellie takes the next ball and makes a good throw. It ticks the center basket, but falls into the one right above it, for less points. Ellie does not say 'drat.' She says something else. Predictably, loudly.]

You're telling me. I'm a good shot with a brick, but this is hard.

[Yep. She was kind of expecting that.]

Quite. I wonder if there's some sort of trick to it.

[She tries again, this time doing only marginally better than before.]

Probably.

-hey that was better. It took me a while to get the hang of even that much.

[Maribelle laughs, beginning to enjoy herself.]

it's still quite difficult, I assure you.

[Still grinning, Ellie hands her the last ball.]

Go on, make it count.
