19. Nonus decimus | Video

[ it has been a while since Kaworu showed his face and made a post, hasn't it? This time around he is at the park. His really pale skin is red from the sun - probably burnt, too, because Kaworu is like an albino - and it's obvious he is feeling the heat, but he is sitting under a tree in the shade ]

Hello. [ have a gentle smile, everyone! ] I hope everyone is alright, even though recent events show us it is getting more dangerous. Even so, there is still much to see and learn in this world. Only recently I've found there are small fans to place inside houses to refresh the place. [ yeah he didn't know about that sort of fans )8 ] Even after so long here, there is much for me to learn.

I suppose it makes me curious: what is the most fascinating thing you have seen in this world?

I do have another question. [ but of course. And it'll be a bit more personal ] After the war has ended and if the Gods and the travelers win, would you wish to stay in this world, or would you rather return? And why?

[ An amused huff ]

Perhaps~ But I have known far stranger than you I think istyar. And there is nothing to say that weird is wrong, no?

True enough [ he chuckles softly ] - but then, everyone is a little weird to someone at some point in their life I think.
bythewaves: (golden voice)

Even so - you are no 'weirder' istyar, than many a mortal man, or indeed - than any I have known, be their Eldar or Hobbit or Dwarf or Ent or even Maia. [ wryly ] Actually I would say you are a good deal less weird than many of the Maia.

How are they not like might be the better question! [ Maglor laughs fondly ] They are, in personality - very like people eh? But... [ he chews thoughtfully on his lower lip ] In some ways they are ancient and wise and timeless, with knowledge far beyond our ken, and in other ways they are as playful as children, and as innocent too, especially in ways of the flesh. They... mm, unlike the Valar, who often walk amongst us clad, very few of the Maia ever take physical form, and many do not take forms very human-like. Lord Osse, for example, has a tendency to look like...well he knows that he's supposed to have arms and legs and hair, but they all tend to look like seaweed and water. About the oceans he knew much, and storms more... but ask him how a body worked, and he was as curious as a new born babe.
bythewaves: (shall I play something)

Mm that is true enough - and explains much, truly. But the maia are as diverse as any people - and difficult to truly explain. They usually swore themselves to the service of one of the Valar, usually one with interests that aligned with them. So Lord Osse who loves best the crash of the waves and the roar of the storms is pledged to Lord Ulmo, whose dominion is all the waters of the world. Lord Eonwe, who loves the great eagles and is great in might is the herald for Lord Manwe, whose dominion is the Airs and the birds who dwell therein. There are far too many of them to list, with personalities and interests to match. But they are all the servants of the Valar - by choice mind.

[ Maglor smiles back wryly ] As you say, they are happy. And to be fair twas us who term them that. I suspect that the relationship is more complicated than that.
bythewaves: (makalaure)

[personal profile] bythewaves 2014-08-25 01:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Mm, well the Valar and the Maia are themselves... very different to us. [ Maglor shrugs a little ] They are... were... our friends, our counselors, our teachers and our guardians, but it never changed the fact that they were spirit, not flesh, and very very different to us. That they loved us I never doubted - but understood us? I begin to think they understood us as little as we did them.
bythewaves: (even this rejects me)

[personal profile] bythewaves 2014-08-27 10:26 am (UTC)(link)
By doing what we did, we broke the Peace of the Valar. To a land that had never known hate we brought the kinstrife. In a land where death had never been known we killed our kin and worse, made them into kinslayers as well. [ he says softly, eyes distant in memory ] For what we have done all ears are closed to us, all roads are shut.

[ Coming back he smiles weakly at Kaworu ]

I do not think any of them remain who would call me friend any longer, Kaworu.

[ There is a long, long pause, and when Maglor answers his voice is the barest murmur ]

I do not know.
bythewaves: (look up)

[ A quiet gentle smile ]

Thank you, great heart.

It is more than you know, istyar.
